Chapter 1216: Chapter 1215: The Fifth Person
"Not familiar, but he should be the fifth person in the tunnel," Jiang Cheng said. "What? It’s him? Who is he then?
Hard to say, but be careful when you see him in the future." Jiang Cheng thought that this Zhang Tian should have some kind of Soul Capturing technique. Having such a person around is indeed dangerous; he needed to find a way to figure out his identity.
Jiang Cheng searched his memory; in that secret room, Jiang Cheng had already memorized everything on the walls, and among them, there were mentions of using Gold Stone to cultivate the Soul Capturing technique. This suggested that Zhang Tian might be a person from Li Country, and he deliberately lured himself in. Was he trying to harm him?
Jiang Cheng felt it necessary to deal with this Zhang Tian. Having such a person around was like having a ticking time bomb, capable of harming others at any moment.
"So, we’ll head back to the Qi Family later. Zhang Tian just said he was going there; I’m worried there’ll be trouble." Jiang Cheng said to Zhao Shuai.
"Okay," Zhao Shuai agreed, and he and Jiang Cheng headed to the Qi Family together.
On the other side, Qi Rongfeng and Cloud were on their way back to the Ji Family. Cloud checked her phone and realized it had been in the secret room with a dead battery. Despite her reluctance, she spoke up, "Um, Qi Rongfeng, can I use your phone to call my dad?" Startled, Qi Rongfeng quickly handed Cloud his phone, appearing a bit frightened by her sudden speaking after a long silence.
After dialing, Cloud said, "Dad," and whatever was said from the other side made her eyes instantly well up. Qi Rongfeng immediately handed her a tissue, which she took without a word of thanks. "Yes, Dad, I’ll be there soon; let’s talk in person." Then she hung up.
Shortly after, they arrived at the Ji Family. Qi Rongfeng saw that, while it wasn’t as grand as the Qi Family, the Ji Family’s residence was quite elegant—a simple villa from the outside, not too ostentatious.
"We’re here. Are you going in, Qi Rongfeng?" Cloud hadn’t spoken much to Qi Rongfeng on the way because she felt she had suffered a lot at the Qi Family this time, though it wasn’t their doing, and the two families’ relationship was already lukewarm.
Qi Rongfeng knew his family was at fault, so he tried to warm up to Cloud throughout the journey. But the girl before him wasn’t acting as obedient as she did in front of Jiang Cheng, ignoring him and speaking rebelliously, so he didn’t push Cloud either.
"I’ll go in; I should apologize."
"Let’s go then. You don’t need to apologize. Although it happened at your house, it wasn’t your fault," Cloud glanced at Qi Rongfeng before entering the Ji Family gate.
"Hey, Jiang, look at this," Zhao Shuai pointed to a groove in the stone, speaking to Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng saw the circular groove Zhao Shuai pointed at, walked over to touch it, and felt residual warmth. He thought for a moment and took a Gold Stone of the same shape and size from the Jiezhi Bracelet, placing it on the groove. "Will this work? Jiang, can Gold Stone be used like this?" Qi Rongfeng was astonished at Jiang Cheng’s actions.
Just then, the spot where Jiang Cheng placed the Gold Stone emitted a purple glow, and a massive rectangular stone shifted to the left, revealing a small room—it should be called a secret room. Jiang Cheng retrieved the Gold Stone, which appeared unchanged.
"Wow, this is amazing! Jiang, you’re so cool." Zhao Shuai was impressed as Jiang Cheng effortlessly opened the secret room, prompting him to step inside.
Jiang Cheng and Qi Rongfeng followed, and upon entering, Jiang Cheng saw the person he suspected—Zhang Tian, who had dropped all pretenses. "What a coincidence, Scientist Jiang, we meet again." Zhang Tian’s alluring smile was nothing like the gentle demeanor he usually showed.
"Zhang Tian, what are you doing in our house?" Qi Rongfeng was clearly displeased at seeing Zhang Tian so calmly sitting inside.
"Oh, Mr. Qi, did you misunderstand something? Do you think your family could have built this tunnel?" Zhang Tian tilted his head with a smirk, sitting on the floor.
"This tunnel is on my family’s premises. Even if we didn’t build it, you have no right to be here." Qi Rongfeng, entering for the first time and recognizing the non-familial script on the walls, was irritated by Zhang Tian’s audacity.
"Zhang Tian, regardless of who built this tunnel, why are you here?" Jiang Cheng asked, observing Zhang Tian’s indifferent attitude.
"Me?" Zhang Tian arched his eyes and smirked playfully at Jiang Cheng. "I heard you were trapped in this tunnel, so I came to take a look. After all, I’m a journalist, right? I must get the explosive scoop first."
"Do you really think we believe you, Zhang Tian? We’ve pursued you this far because we know your true intentions." Zhao Shuai was exasperated by Zhang Tian’s evasiveness.
"What intentions could I have? If you don’t believe me, I’ll leave right now." Zhang Tian pretended to stand and leave, bypassing Jiang Cheng and the others.
"Leaving to destroy this tunnel and trapping us inside?"
Jiang Cheng blocked his path, staring at Zhang Tian’s insincere smile.
"I’m not sure what you’re talking about," Zhang Tian maintained eye contact with Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng noticed Zhang Tian’s eyes changing color to red, recalling how he had used this method to confuse Cloud and trap her here. Jiang Cheng immediately averted his gaze to avoid direct eye contact.
"Stop using these tricks, Zhang Tian. You confuse people with this Soul Capturing technique, right? And if I’m correct, you intended to cultivate here." Jiang Cheng straightforwardly confronted Zhang Tian, who still attempted deception.
"Zhang Tian, let’s be real, there are three of us here. Just come with us; you’ll pay for kidnapping Cloud."
said Zhao Shuai.
Zhang Tian’s smile disappeared, and he cracked his neck. "Well, since you know everything, I’ll drop the act, but"—Zhang Tian approached Zhao Shuai—"do you have evidence that it was I who captured Ji Yunduo?"
Jiang Cheng saw Zhang Tian attempting his old trick, and Zhao Shuai’s gaze was starting to blur under Zhang Tian’s eyes. Quickly, Jiang Cheng pulled Zhao Shuai away, who shook his head, regaining clarity. "You’re dead meat, Zhang Tian, if I don’t cripple you." Zhao Shuai was genuinely angry now, shocked at Zhang Tian’s audacity in attempting hypnosis right under their noses.
Jiang Cheng held Zhao Shuai back and addressed Zhang Tian, "You better behave. If I’m not mistaken, you’re from Li Country, right?"
"Yes, since you already know, why come here looking for me?" Zhang Tian didn’t expect Jiang Cheng to realize his Li Country origins so quickly.
"What’s your objective?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Objective? If I say I’m here to take care of you, will you believe me?" Zhang Tian made a throat-slitting gesture at Jiang Cheng. "Do you think I’ll buy that?" Jiang Cheng wasn’t fazed by Zhang Tian’s words. "Actually, I’ve planted bombs here already," Zhang Tian showcased a remote control. "If you touch me, we’ll all perish here together." Zhang Tian wore a wicked grin as his face twisted in malice.
