Chapter 1221: Chapter 1220: Virus Source
"Alright, alright, we can’t panic now, we can’t panic," the boss said.
"Dad, I’ve brought Jiang here to solve the problem," Zhao Shuai said, pulling Jiang Cheng to the boss.
"Oh right, how could I forget? Xiao Jiang is very capable indeed." The President sighed in relief, looking at Jiang Cheng, "Xiao Jiang, I can trust you, right?"
Jiang Cheng couldn’t find words to refuse under the earnest gaze of the boss, "Let’s head to the central network communication room now. I’ll give it a try," Jiang Cheng said.
"But Dad, is there really such a central control room?" Zhao Shuai asked with a face full of curiosity, having never heard of such a place all these years.
The boss dismissed everyone else, leaving only Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai. "There definitely is, but it’s confidential, so there’s no way you’d know," the boss told Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai.
Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai followed the boss to a small and inconspicuous place. Jiang Cheng saw it was a simple two-story building, and inside he saw several staff members. It resembled other central control rooms he had seen, with a massive control system connected to several computers. Even before entering, Jiang Cheng noticed that despite its unremarkable appearance, there were many security guards stationed around.
Due to the network communications crash, the staff were utterly overwhelmed, with many people rushing around in the corridor. Jiang Cheng saw the person in charge scolding a staff member. He followed the boss over, and the person in charge was surprised to see the boss, but more so trembling with fear.
"Boss, why did you come?" The person in charge quickly changed their stern demeanor to a smile as they spoke to the boss.
"With such a big issue happening, how could I not come? Do you seriously still have time to scold others?" The boss glared at the person in charge before heading straight into the central control room.
Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai followed into the control room. Inside were several people continuously tweaking computers, with every one of them appearing very tense. Jiang Cheng noticed a fat man with sweat pouring down his face. It was clear they hadn’t even noticed the boss’s arrival.
The person in charge stepped in from outside and was taken aback by the scene, "Stop what you’re doing for now, take a look at who walked in." Remembering the boss’s earlier anger, the person was deeply worried that such a subordinate would only lead to more scolding.
Upon seeing the boss, whom they’d only seen on TV, suddenly standing before them, the people were too shocked to speak and stood there dumbfounded.
"Alright, seeing how seriously they were working, I didn’t want to disturb them," the boss said, walking over to a few young people, "Have you found the problem?"
The individuals were overwhelmed with the live presence of the boss, kindly asking their questions, and looked at the boss in awe.
One of them, a young man with glasses, said, "So far, we’ve identified it as a virus, but we’ve never seen this kind of virus before. It can penetrate all software and hardware recovery cards. This virus seizes the hard disk control of recovery software through a driver file and modifies user initialization files to conceal itself. It’s a typical network architecture Trojan, lingering in the system after penetrating recovery software, regularly downloading various Trojan programs from specific websites to intercept user account information."
The young man’s detailed explanation was enlightening for Jiang Cheng, reminding him of a time on Earth when he encountered a similar virus that wreaked havoc globally, albeit only affecting cybercafes and some households back then.
"So, how many people have been affected now?" Jiang Cheng asked.
Fatty beside him replied, "According to current statistics, nearly everyone in the country has been affected." The young people recognized Jiang Cheng the moment he came in, remembering how he solved the virus during the conference in the Imperial Capital. Jiang Cheng’s influence among tech researchers, especially in network communications circles, was significant.
"Can you track down who spread the virus?" the boss asked, posing a question Jiang Cheng had also wanted to ask. While deactivating the virus, it was crucial to first control the source.
"We’ve tracked it to an internet cafe. The suspect committed the crime there," Fatty added.
The boss and Jiang Cheng saw the findings of the young people, which pointed to a place called "Kano Internet Cafe."
"This internet cafe is 500 meters beside the Imperial Capital conference hall," one young person said.
"Can you deactivate this virus now?" the boss asked.
"Currently, we can’t deactivate it. We have named it the Canglan Virus," Fatty said.
"Xiao Jiang, it’s all up to you now. I’ll contain the virus source and hope you can quickly deactivate the virus," the boss said to Jiang Cheng urgently.
Under the boss’s anxious and eager gaze, Jiang Cheng felt immense pressure as this Canglan Virus was clearly more rampant than the previous one. He wasn’t sure if he could deactivate it quickly, "Don’t worry, Boss, I’ll try my best."
"Good, with you here, I can be much more at ease," the boss breathed a sigh of relief.
"I’ll head out now to investigate this virus source."
Upon finishing, the boss walked out the door. "Shuai, are you staying here?" the boss asked, noticing Zhao Shuai hadn’t entered. Jiang Cheng stepped out and found Zhao Shuai standing just at the doorway. "Yeah, I’ll wait here for Jiang. You go catch the culprit while I wait," Zhao Shuai said.
The boss glanced at Zhao Shuai but said nothing more and left.
"Shuai, why didn’t you come in?" Jiang Cheng asked, "This isn’t a place ordinary people can access. I’ll just wait here for you," Zhao Shuai replied. "Hurry and look into the virus," he added. Jiang Cheng was somewhat surprised at Zhao Shuai’s maturity, smiled, and went back inside.
Inside, the young people respectfully made room for Jiang Cheng upon his entry. "Scientist Jiang, please take a seat."
Feeling somewhat overwhelmed, Jiang Cheng smiled at them and sat down.
"You guys sit too, I’ll do my best to check," Jiang Cheng said to the group.
Jiang Cheng saw the computer before him was operational, and although the hackers targeted cybercafe computers, the equipment here was still functional. This gave Jiang Cheng some hope as he worked on the computer.
The people watched as Jiang Cheng’s fingers danced rapidly across the keyboard, their eyes dazzled by his swift operation. His full attention was on deactivating the virus, acknowledging that this Canglan Virus was indeed more rampant than previous ones, affecting not just network ports but seemingly power grid ports as well.
Jiang Cheng had encountered various viruses before, but none were as troublesome as this one, making him quite anxious.
Ten minutes passed, and Jiang Cheng was still at it. Outside, Zhao Shuai started to feel a bit concerned. Last time, Jiang Cheng took about ten minutes to deactivate the virus, but this one seemed really troublesome. But there was nothing he could do to help, so he simply waited patiently.
