Chapter 1238 - 1237: Candidate

Chapter 1238: Chapter 1237: Candidate

Chang Tian brought Jiang Cheng and Qi Rongfeng backstage, and as soon as Jiang Cheng got the hydraulic press, he saw the host Xiaoyu being intercepted by someone not far away. It seemed like they were arguing and pulling at each other. "Isn’t that the guy who just bid on that bouquet?" Qi Rongfeng, with his keen eye, noticed that the bouquet was the last auction item.

It looked like the host was being harassed. Qi Rongfeng wanted to intervene.

Qi Rongfeng walked towards Xiaoyu, and Jiang Cheng followed him.

"Xiaoyu, accept it. I bid it just for you," the man said to Xiaoyu.

"I don’t want it, sir. Please keep it yourself." Xiaoyu tried to leave.

But the man persisted, blocking Xiaoyu’s path, insisting on giving her the bouquet.

"Sir, if the lady doesn’t want your gift, don’t harass her."

Qi Rongfeng, seeing the man holding Xiaoyu’s arm, couldn’t help but advise.

The man glanced at Qi Rongfeng, then approached him, "Who are you to interfere with me?" The man’s face was not friendly; his eyes were fierce as he stared at Qi Rongfeng.

Qi Rongfeng faced the man shorter than him but full of arrogance.

"I said don’t harass her."

"Harass?" The man chuckled, shoved Qi Rongfeng, "I’m pursuing her. I advise you not to meddle in other people’s business." After speaking, the man glanced at Qi Rongfeng, turned back to Xiaoyu, now seemingly intent on confronting him, and placed an arm on Xiaoyu’s shoulder.

Xiaoyu was nearly in tears, trying hard to break free, but the man’s hefty frame was immovable.

Qi Rongfeng couldn’t bear it any longer, stepped forward and took the man’s hand away. It was unclear who started it, but they began fighting. It was more like Qi Rongfeng was thrashing the fat man.

Xiaoyu started crying for real, continuously shouting and trying to pull them apart, but Jiang Cheng did not intervene, partly because he saw Qi Rongfeng didn’t need his help, and partly because.

He felt the man was obnoxious, only bullying women. He believed such a person deserved punishment.

After a while, Qi Rongfeng stopped, looking at the man lying on the ground, "Don’t bother her again." Qi Rongfeng said and ignored the man.

"You—do you know who I am?" the man groaned with blood gushing from his lip from Qi Rongfeng’s punch.

"I don’t care who you are. Scum like you is just societal trash." Qi Rongfeng remarked.

Zhang Tian, watching the scene, didn’t move forward, only standing and observing.

The man beaten down by Qi Rongfeng slowly got up, dusted off, and walked over to Qi Rongfeng.

"You probably have no idea who I am, kid." The man said condescendingly.

Qi Rongfeng had no desire to deal with the dull and creepy man; he merely wanted to escort Xiaoyu away quickly.

At this moment, Xiaoyu remained in shock, unable to recover from the previous fright, staring dumbly at Qi Rongfeng.

"Why the rush to leave?" the man blocked Qi Rongfeng’s way, unwilling to end the matter. "The name’s Liu Zhenqi, Liu Xi’s son." The man said arrogantly.

Liu Xi, the name sounded familiar, but Qi Rongfeng and Jiang Cheng obviously didn’t recall who Liu Xi was.

Then Zhang Tian stepped forward to the man, "So, it’s Mr. Liu, hello." Zhang Tian said.

"And who are you?" Liu Zhenqi asked, eyeing the handsome, well-dressed young man displaying seeming friendliness, understanding his identity, eager to please him. Reflecting on his earlier bravado in gifting flowers without his entourage and being beaten by a clueless man, only the man opposite seemed reliable.

"Do you know him?" Qi Rongfeng asked Zhang Tian.

"No," Zhang Tian answered, "But I know his father, his father’s quite fond of him," he added.

The nearby Liu Zhenqi was even more smug, "Just wait, my team will come for you soon.

"Liu Xi is one of the current election candidates." Jiang Cheng remembered who Liu Xi was, approaching Qi Rongfeng and saying.

Qi Rongfeng stared at the average-looking man, recalling seeing Liu Xi online, and there was a resemblance. Jiang Cheng observed the shameless man before them, clearly recognizing if Qi Rongfeng were taken by Liu’s team, things would become difficult.

"If you’re discussing strategy now, it’s too late," Liu Zhenqi assumed Jiang Cheng and Qi Rongfeng’s low conversation indicated recognition of his influence, intimidating them, feeling increasingly self-important.

"Weren’t you just arrogant, hitting me? I chose not to retaliate; had I done so, I’d be no different than you—a brute?" Liu Zhenqi pressed his advantage over the silent Qi Rongfeng.

"Mr. Liu is it? I think something’s wrong with your head. My friend’s actions were merely self-defense, witnessed by many. Also, the person he protected is right here," Jiang Cheng finished, glancing at Xiaoyu.

Xiaoyu briefly looked at Jiang Cheng, then quickly dropped her gaze, seemingly embarrassed.

"And who are you? What has it to do with you?" Liu Zhenqi replied arrogantly, despite his bruised face, making his bold expressions comical.

"Who I am doesn’t matter; what’s important is what you’re doing might be risky," Jiang Cheng warned.

Just then, four men in black entered, instantly crowding the backstage.

The four men stood by Liu Zhenqi. Jiang Cheng realized they were likely the man’s subordinates.

"How is what I’m doing risky?" Liu Zhenqi asked Jiang Cheng.

"You better follow me to the team." Liu Zhenqi instructed Qi Rongfeng.

At once, the four men in black approached Qi Rongfeng, planning to forcibly take him.

"Your dad’s election is near, and as I know, the circumstances aren’t favorable. Many are watching your every move. Am I right?" Jiang Cheng stated.

"Wait," Liu Zhenqi spoke up, intending to say more, but then his phone rang. After answering it, his demeanor changed entirely. "Let’s go," he told his men.

"Don’t celebrate too soon. Today, I let you off due to other matters; next time, you’ll regret it." Liu Zhenqi finished, dropping the flowers meant for Xiaoyu without looking at them.

Jiang Cheng noticed Zhang Tian had been silent after saying something earlier.

But Liu Zhenqi’s sudden departure seemed less coincidental and more Zhang Tian’s doing.

"Let’s go as well, Rongfeng." Jiang Cheng said to Qi Rongfeng.
