Chapter 1252: Chapter 1251: Fishy
The question was raised, and not only Zhao Shuai, but the balding man beside him also looked angrily at the plump woman.
"A friend? The one who just left." Zhao Shuai said.
"That’s great, I really admire that guy who just went out. Once I saw you, I knew you were capable, and since you’re his friend, you must be excellent." The plump woman said with a smile.
"I think it’s great too. I agreed." The plump man said with a smile.
"What? Are you crazy!" The balding man angrily stood up. "What do you mean by this?"
"You’re using public office for private revenge." The plump man didn’t want to argue with him anymore and turned to Zhao Shuai, "Congratulations, you passed the first round of interviews."
"Thank you." Zhao Shuai walked out.
"You did it, right?" Cloud, seeing Zhao Shuai’s joyful expression, guessed.
"Yeah, it’s funny, you know?" Zhao Shuai still didn’t understand what happened; he just got through.
"What happened? Did they ask if you have any special skills?" Cloud asked.
"Yes, but I said I didn’t have any special skills." Zhao Shuai said. "Then she said because I was Jiang’s friend, she let me pass." Zhao Shuai continued.
"Yeah, everything today is so strange, strangely smooth." Qi Rongfeng said.
"It’s like someone is deliberately letting us in." Zhao Shuai said.
"I might know who’s doing this." Jiang Cheng said.
Jiang Cheng took out his phone and dialed. Zhao Shuai watched Jiang Cheng say nothing, just like he knew who it was, thinking, Jiang is as formidable as ever.
After Jiang Cheng hung up the phone, he became even more uneasy. "Who is Jiang?" Qi Rongfeng asked.
"I called Zhang Tian, asking if it was him,"
"Really?" Cloud asked.
"No." Jiang Cheng’s expression grew serious. From the moment Cloud came out, he felt strange. Until he went in himself, he was sure someone deliberately let them in. At that time, he didn’t care and thought it must be Zhang Tian, but Zhang Tian just said it wasn’t him, and he wouldn’t lie to him. Jiang Cheng suddenly felt things seemed to be out of his control.
"Then who is it? Jiang, do you have any ideas?" Qi Rongfeng asked.
"No, I was always certain it was Zhang Tian." Jiang Cheng gave a bitter smile, realizing he had been overly confident.
"So what’s this person’s purpose in letting all of us in? Also, that balding man is the uncle of that troublemaker Li Wei." Zhao Shuai said.
"He indeed wasn’t friendly, but thinking back, he was the most normal." Jiang Cheng said. "Imagine, if we were all part of the Wula Sect and were recruiting people, how could we so easily accept people who disrespect the Wula Sect?"
"Yeah, such enthusiasm is suspicious. It’s too obvious." Qi Rongfeng said.
"So this person wants us to know he let us in on purpose." Cloud said.
"When is the second interview for the twenty people?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"The morning after tomorrow." Zhao Shuai said.
"Let’s not panic for now. Let’s go back first, and then we’ll see." Jiang Cheng said.
"Yeah, let’s head back and eat. I’m starving." Zhao Shuai said, clutching his stomach.
"You always remember to eat." Cloud laughed.
The heavy atmosphere lightened somewhat.
Jiang Cheng and the others returned to their place. Just as they got home, Jiang Cheng saw that Zhang Tian had called him. After answering the call, he was truly a bit surprised.
"Jiang, what did Zhang Tian want?" Zhao Shuai asked.
"He said there’s a tech summit tomorrow. Major tech giants and industry elites from the country will be invited to Wulu City for a meeting. He asked if I want to go."
"Oh, not interested." Zhao Shuai said, drooping his head after listening.
"Are you going?" Cloud asked.
"Yes, I’ll go. Zhang Tian said this meeting reflects the technology level of Li Country." Jiang Cheng replied.
"Then I’ll go too, Jiang." Cloud said with a smile.
"You’re going too? Don’t you usually hate these kinds of events?" Zhao Shuai said, looking at Cloud.
"Can’t I change my mind and want to go?" Cloud glanced at Zhao Shuai.
"Then you and Jiang go; Zhao Shuai and I will stay here." Qi Rongfeng said.
"I thought you’d like to go to such places?" Zhao Shuai asked in surprise, thinking how everyone seemed to have changed.
"Our entrance into the Wula Sect for the first interview was fishy. We better stay. In case something happens, I fear you won’t be able to handle it." Qi Rongfeng indeed wanted to go, but he was uneasy leaving Zhao Shuai alone here.
"Oh, Rongfeng, I’m so touched." Zhao Shuai exaggeratedly wiped his eyes.
Qi Rongfeng saw Jiang Cheng like that and shrugged, expressing contempt.
"We’ll head out in the afternoon, you guys take care." Jiang said to Qi Rongfeng.
"Okay, no worries. You two be careful on the way." Qi Rongfeng said.
In the afternoon, Zhang Tian came to pick up Jiang Cheng and Cloud. Jiang Cheng was dressed very formally today, in a black suit, making him look even more imposing.
Cloud was also not dressed in her usual casual style, but in a formal green mermaid evening dress, showing off her graceful figure. "Hey, Cloud, it’s not a date, why dress so nicely? You brought clothes to Li Country?" Zhao Shuai was momentarily amazed at Cloud’s outfit but couldn’t help teasing her as usual.
"I’m leaving, take care." Cloud said, not intending to bicker with Zhao Shuai any longer, and walked out, leaving Zhao Shuai feeling a bit out of sorts. "What’s with her? Why didn’t she argue with me?"
Zhao Shuai asked Qi Rongfeng next to him.
"Women, you don’t understand at all." Qi Rongfeng looked at Zhao Shuai helplessly.
"She’s so beautiful today, she doesn’t want to fuss with you." Qi Rongfeng said, seeing Zhao Shuai baffled.
Cloud and Jiang Cheng got into Zhang Tian’s car. "Is Wulu City the neighboring city?" Jiang asked Zhang Tian.
Zhang Tian was also wearing a black suit today, yet his hairstyle was energetic, giving him an air of a true urban elite. But because he was very young, he looked neither dull nor handsome and youthful.
Zhang Tian glanced over at Jiang Cheng and Cloud, "Yes, we’ll arrive by evening."
"Does this summit happen every year?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"No, only once every four years." Zhang Tian replied.
"How did you get this spot?" Jiang asked, considering it might be challenging to bring himself and Cloud along.
"It’s enough that I can go, I can bring as many people as I want." Zhang Tian replied arrogantly.
However, Jiang Cheng also knew that Zhang Tian’s social status was quite high here, which didn’t sound repulsive.
"Why did you bring us?" Cloud still didn’t believe Zhang Tian was completely on their side; after all, he had kidnapped her before.
"Looking for someone to accompany me?"
Zhang Tian said offhand. He didn’t even know why, just felt that Jiang Cheng wanted to go, so he asked him along.
Jiang Cheng also sensed Zhang Tian’s goodwill, perhaps even he didn’t realize it, but Jiang Cheng felt Zhang Tian seemed to consider him a friend.
