Chapter 1255: Chapter 1254: Inside the Grand Hall
Wu is really amazing, no matter how she was before. Now, I think she’s pretty cool." Cloud looked at Wu Shan on the stage, her eyes sparkling.
"Things like this won’t go as she wishes." Zhang Tian said blandly, as if the matter at hand had nothing to do with him.
Cloud gave Zhang Tian a glance. This person is so annoying, always pouring cold water on her excitement.
"Yes, matters like these involve too many people," Jiang Cheng sighed.
Wu Shan didn’t speak any further. With a glance at the audience, Jiang Cheng felt as if she was looking at him. Wu Shan said to the middle-aged man beside her, "I’m sorry. You all are great!" and then walked off the stage. After Wu Shan stepped down, she didn’t return to her seat but went straight out of the venue.
Jiang Cheng felt the figure in front of him seemed a bit thin, a bit lonely. The man on the stage stared blankly as Wu Shan left. He didn’t say anything and just went down.
Then the host announced for the next person to come up. It was as if what had just happened was a small interlude, causing no ripple in people’s hearts. It’s just that the next person was no longer so exaggerated, reporting earnestly. The atmosphere in the entire venue suddenly became somewhat eerie.
"Is this matter just going to end like this, Jiang?" Cloud said.
"It seems so for now," Jiang Cheng said. By now, things were already beginning to take shape.
"Should we leave? I don’t really want to stay here." Cloud was somewhat moved by Wu Shan’s words just now. She understood what truth meant to science, and in the current situation, the entire country’s technology was caught in this smoky atmosphere, making her feel powerless.
"Let’s go." Jiang Cheng said.
After speaking, Jiang Cheng, Cloud, and Zhang Tian all left. Jiang Cheng noticed that a few others were also leaving at this moment.
"Are we heading back now?" Cloud asked. "This time is really pointless," she frowned.
"Let’s head back." Jiang Cheng said. Zhang Tian said nothing and just followed Jiang Zai from behind.
After just a few steps, Jiang Cheng saw a car ahead, with Cloud leaning against it. Cloud was wearing a black dress she just bought, draped in a coat. She was looking at Jiang Cheng’s direction, with a confused, somewhat lonely gaze.
Jiang Cheng and the others didn’t plan on speaking to her and intended to bypass her to get to their car.
"Why did you come here?" Wu Shan’s cool voice sounded.
"Wanted to." Jiang Cheng said lightly.
"Are you here for revenge?" Wu Shan asked somewhat hesitantly.
"Ha, revenge? What are you thinking? Only your kind does such despicable things." Cloud said looking at Wu Shan.
Wu Shan glanced at Jiang Cheng, lowered her head, and said nothing more.
"What now, you act as if you’re the victim. Can’t stand it." Cloud said looking at a somewhat aggrieved Wu Shan, and then she walked away.
"No matter what you plan to do, if this time you harm others again, harm society, I won’t let you go." Jiang Cheng said as he walked past Wu Shan.
Wu Shan suddenly lifted her head to look at Jiang Cheng, her eyes showing some sorrow.
But she still didn’t say anything.
Jiang Cheng and Zhang Tian immediately caught up with Cloud and reached the car. Cloud was still angry at this moment, not saying a word.
"Are you alright?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Jiang," Cloud suddenly looked at Jiang Cheng, her gaze suddenly sharp. "Do you think Wu Shan might have some ulterior motive?"
After speaking, Cloud kept staring at Jiang Cheng’s face, afraid of missing any expression.
"I suspect so as well. I think Mantasha and her are up to something again." Jiang Cheng said seriously. Just now, when Wu Shi went up, one part of Jiang Cheng was surprised, but another part was suspicious she had something else going on.
Cloud examined Jiang Cheng, seeing no special expression, just a serious analysis, then turned her eyes away, not as angry.
Jiang Cheng didn’t notice Cloud’s change, only thinking that he should keep paying attention to this matter in the future.
Changtian said nothing throughout the whole process, just silently drove the car.
For a moment, the atmosphere went back to awkward as it was when they came. Only this time, Jin didn’t care, as everyone harbored their own concerns.
Soon, they reached the Capital City. Zhang Tian first dropped Jiang Cheng and Cloud off at home. "I’m leaving." Zhang Tian still said lightly and then left.
When Jiang Cheng and Cloud arrived home, they found Zhao Shuai and Qi Rongfeng were not there.
"Huh? Where did they go?" Cloud checked every room, but there was no sign of anyone.
"Call them and ask." Jiang Cheng suggested.
Cloud was just about to make a call when someone knocked on the door, "They might be here already." Cloud quickly went to open it and found it was Xiaoyu.
"You’re back." Xiaoyu said with a smile.
"Yes, just back. Xiaoyu, do you know where they went?" Cloud asked.
"I don’t know either. I’ve been busy for the past few days, sleeping directly at the company." Xiaoyu said.
Cloud then noticed Xiaoyu’s messy hair, looking tired. "You should go rest, you seem exhausted."
"Yes, I’m really tired." Xiaoyu said, "If you can’t find them, let me know, we can look together."
"They probably went out to buy things, don’t worry, go rest." Cloud replied.
After Xiaoyu left, Cloud took out her phone and called Zhao Shuai.
Jiang Cheng overheard Cloud mention the Wula Sect during the call. His heart was immediately on edge, unsure of the situation.
As soon as Cloud hung up, her expression darkened. "Jiang, Zhao Shuai said that after we left, someone called them to the Wula Sect, but..."
"But what?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"After they went, the person who called them wasn’t there. They’re still waiting there now." Cloud explained.
"Why not come back? Are they unable to return?" Jiang Cheng almost figured out the situation.
"Zhao Shuai said it’s okay, and they’ll be back soon, asking us to wait for them."
Cloud was also anxious. During the call, Zhao Shuai was laughing and joking, but Cloud knew the more dangerous the situation, the more relaxed Zhao Shuai pretended to be. He definitely didn’t want her and Jiang Cheng to go, in case something really went wrong.
"What nonsense is this? I’ll go check." Jiang Cheng heard and knew the situation wasn’t optimistic, so he planned to leave immediately.
"I’m going too." Cloud said and stood up in a hurry, only to trip over the long hem of her gown and fell onto the sofa.
"Are you alright?" Jiang Cheng said looking at Cloud sitting on the sofa.
"I’m fine. The sofa is soft." Cloud said, "I’m coming too, Jiang."
"It’s better that you don’t go. I can handle it." Jiang Cheng suggested.
"Better leave one person here, it would be more prudent." Jiang Cheng feared Cloud wouldn’t agree, so he continued.
Cloud paused, then stopped insisting. "Alright, keep me updated on the situation."
"Okay, I’m heading out." Jiang Cheng hurriedly left.
Jiang Cheng quickly took a cab to the Wula Sect. Upon arrival, he noticed there weren’t as many people today, only a few worshiping the Wula Goddess. It suddenly became quiet.
Jiang Cheng easily got inside. The day he went, he only entered the Marla Sect’s main hall; that day, they had an exam here, now many people were worshiping here.
