Chapter 1264: Chapter 1263: Analyzer
Now Jiang Cheng understood a bit more; these people in front of him were likely from Kai Ao Country. At the time of the virus outbreak at the Imperial Capital Science Academy in Kai Ao Country. After so long, Jiang Cheng could personally feel the anxiety he had felt back then.
Even the most skilled scientific community in our country couldn’t do it, but he can? "Yeah, just going up there to show off, right?" Pshaw, forget it, whatever.
Jiang Cheng really didn’t know there was so much controversy when he went up to neutralize the virus. Did these people originally have so much resentment and scoldings for him? Jiang Cheng felt a bit cold-hearted.
My god, it worked, you try! Quick! "Ah, really? He can really do it!" "Wow, amazing, I thought he was just looking for some presence!
My god, he’s impressive, this guy, I really respect him." Yeah, really amazing, and quite handsome too, my male god. "Oh, knock it off, who is it?
They said he was just a pretty face, but now isn’t that a slap in the face?" It seemed like a couple was talking nearby.
Only then did Jiang Cheng confirm it was about the Kai Ao Country virus incident. Hearing the sudden stop of the wind nearby, he knew the illusion realm in front of him had shattered. A different scene appeared before him.
Suddenly, a piercingly cold breath rushed towards him, and Jiang Cheng felt as if he was in a chilly cellar. The surroundings were completely silent, as if there was no one around. "Jiang!" Cloud’s voice came from beside him. Jiang Cheng felt he must be in the tunnel from last time at the Qi Family.
Jiang Cheng heard his own voice, "Don’t worry, we will definitely get out." Jiang Cheng felt like he was actually in this tunnel. He could fully feel the cold sitting on the ground and the confusion of studying the words on the wall. Jiang Cheng felt he could truly experience it. At the time, Jiang Cheng didn’t think much of it, but now being detached from it, he felt he had been quite afraid back then, although he kept comforting Cloud with his words, he still felt some fear inside.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng sensed another person’s footsteps, not knowing why he could hear it now, confirming his earlier speculation that, besides him and Cloud, someone else was also in the tunnel.
Jiang Cheng heard what seemed to be the sound of pacing; he really wanted to open his eyes to see who it was. As soon as he opened his eyes, he would be able to see what he had always wanted to know. Just as his will faltered, Jiang Cheng felt his left and right hands were both squeezed. Suddenly he became fully alert. The scene in front of him wasn’t real at all; opening his eyes would have been truly dangerous.
Jiang Cheng thought back to the scene he had just experienced and felt a lingering fear; the cold feeling gradually dissipated too. What followed was a warmth mixed with a slight dryness.
"Open your eyes," Zhang Tian said.
Jiang Cheng slowly opened his eyes to adjust to the sudden burst of light in front of him.
"Oh man, my hands are so sore," Zhao Shuai said, shaking his hands. "Where is this place now?" Zhao Shuai asked.
Still in the desert, just at the very edge. I have already broken all the previous desert illusion realms, and now I can confirm Qi Rongfeng is here." Zhang Tian’s complexion seemed a bit better, not as pale as before. "Luckily, none of you opened your eyes just now, so we smoothly broke through the recent illusion realm.
Jiang Cheng looked at Zhang Tian and recalled his earlier illusion realm, thinking that what Zhang probably couldn’t let go of the most in his heart was his mother’s death. Every heart demon involved this scene, torturing him each time.
"So where is Rongfeng now?" Zhao Shuai asked.
"Given how small the area is now, it should be easy to find him. Let’s split up to search," Zhang Tian suggested.
"Alright, then let’s search separately," Jiang Cheng said, taking out three locator communicators to hand one to each of Zhang Tian and Zhao Shuai. "Take this, so we can keep in touch and locate each other."
"You always have a way, Jiang," Zhao Shuai remarked, examining the device in his hand.
"Okay, let’s get moving," Zhang Tian said after securing his device.
The three of them split up to search for Qi Rongfeng. Jiang Cheng looked at the endless yellow sand and felt a sense of desolation for the first time, walking straight ahead. In the distance, Jiang Cheng saw a hotel, and sensing that the chance of finding Rongfeng there was highest, he didn’t hesitate but spoke into the communicator, "I’m going to check the hotel ahead for Rongfeng."
When Jiang Cheng entered this hotel, he found it quite ordinary, much like the most common small inns on the streets of Li Country, with just two stories. The first floor seemed to be a restaurant, and the second floor for lodging. Jiang Cheng, having scoped it out briefly, went inside.
Upon entering, Jiang Cheng saw four or five people dining. Nobody paid him special attention, except the waiter who walked over to introduce the place to Jiang Cheng with a friendly demeanor, "Sir, are you here to stay or to dine?"
Jiang Cheng didn’t see who he wanted on the first floor, "Stay," he replied.
"What kind of room would you like?" the person at the counter asked.
"A standard room is fine," Jiang Cheng responded, "How many rooms do you have left?"
"Oh, you came just on time; we’ve got just one room left," the waiter said, pointing upstairs, "Our place here is small, only about seven or eight rooms."
"Oh, I see, is it usually this busy?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Not always this busy; it’s just today. Let me tell you, a guy came this morning and hasn’t come out of his room since," the waiter told Jiang Cheng.
"Really, what kind of person?" Jiang Cheng thought this person might very well be Rongfeng.
"He’s just—" the waiter began, but was cut off by the counter staff, "Aren’t you busy? Why are you gossiping here?!
The waiter pursed his lips and walked aside.
Jiang Cheng turned and took the room card handed to him by the counter staff and headed to the second floor.
Jiang Cheng always felt that there was something abnormal here, something subtle he couldn’t put his finger on, but the place exuded an air different from ordinary hotels.
Jiang Cheng slowly went up to the second floor, planning to check each room gradually. However, this carried too much risk. If Qi Rongfeng was really here, he’d likely be that person who hadn’t stepped out at all. But why would he do that? Could there be something here preventing him from leaving? As far-fetched as it seemed, it was the only idea Jiang Cheng could come up with.
His room was at the very end. As he walked along, he noticed the room doors were all tightly locked. He checked below to see if anyone was watching him; thankfully, no one was. Jiang Cheng pulled out an ultrasonic analyzer from his Jiezhi; he didn’t know if it would work in the illusion realm, but searching with this was the only option now. As Jiang Cheng walked while checking the display of the analyzer, he saw there were fluctuations in every room, indicating that all these rooms were occupied. When he reached the last room, he noticed that the sound waves from the analyzer showed no fluctuations at all, suggesting that although someone was there, they hadn’t moved at all. Jiang Cheng looked at the tightly closed door in front of him, tempted to push it open.
