Chapter 1285: Chapter 1284: A Brand New World

Jiang Cheng walked forward and saw many residential buildings, lined up on both sides of the road. Jiang Cheng thought these houses seemed no different from those on Earth, except they didn’t appear as tall, perhaps only five or six stories at most.

Jiang Cheng slowly proceeded forward. He suddenly felt unsure of where to go, unexpectedly losing his sense of direction. The world before him was too idealized, as if this was the world he’d always yearned for. Jiang Cheng thought, feeling a desire to settle here permanently.

Jiang Cheng hurriedly stood firm and looked around at everything. Yes, this was the world he’d always wished for. This was the world he envisioned in his heart. Just now his thoughts were truly dangerous—this isn’t a place to linger. It’s the world of his heart, his innermost desires, which are actually his greed. Cold sweat penetrated Jiang Cheng’s skin. His immediate priority is to get out and then... find the bead.

Jiang Cheng suddenly seemed to understand the Master Venerable’s intention for seeking the bead. He allowed everyone to enter the world they desired, to see how many could resist and remember their original purpose.

Jiang Cheng slowly looked at the world before him; it was incredibly real. Jiang Cheng genuinely felt the ground and the blue sky, completely unpolluted, everything appearing so clean and bright.

A sudden commotion ahead caught Jiang Cheng’s attention. A man rushed past him, grabbing a leather bag, with someone in pursuit.

Jiang Cheng realized this was a mugging, quickly running to join the chase.

The man ahead ran exceptionally fast. As Jiang Cheng ran, he pondered. They’d been running for twenty minutes straight, and the man ahead seemed desperate, while Jiang Cheng gradually felt his strength waning.

Observing the man turning into an alley, Jiang Cheng followed closely. The alley was unexpectedly blocked by a wall, thus trapping the man in front. Jiang Cheng found himself blocked from behind as well.

The thief turned around, glaring viciously at Jiang Cheng, and pulled out a gun! Jiang Cheng was shocked—are people in this world allowed to carry guns? Jiang Cheng realized his impulsiveness but wondered if it might be a fake gun, attempting to comfort himself.

"Let me go, and I won’t harm you," the thief said, eyeing Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng saw the madness in the man’s eyes, slowly moved sideways, his hands raised, signaling he wouldn’t act impulsively.

The thief seemed partly satisfied with Jiang Cheng’s actions and slowly moved towards the exit, appearing somewhat relaxed. Jiang Cheng noted the thief’s slight relaxation and thought, "Now’s the time!" Swiftly, he drew a knife from the Jiezhi Bracelet and hurled it at the thief’s gun-wielding hand.

The thief was utterly caught off guard by Jiang Cheng’s actions, dropping the gun in fear, while Jiang Cheng’s knife opened a cut on his hand.

Jiang Cheng rushed over to subdue the thief. The man wore a hat and mask, revealing only a pair of sinister eyes, which glared resentfully at Jiang Cheng.

"Nosy!" the man said.

Jiang Cheng remained silent, casually observing the thief, glancing at the discarded leather bag. What was so special about it that drove him to such desperation to steal? Jiang Cheng found it puzzling.

At that moment, the bag’s owner arrived—a middle-aged woman, breathless, seemingly exhausted from the chase.

"My goodness, you scared me!" The woman looked at the subdued thief and patted her chest, visibly shaken. "I’ve already reported it—thank you so much!" she said to Jiang Cheng, retrieving the leather bag from the ground.

The officers soon arrived, surprising Jiang Cheng by their quick response.

The officers immediately restrained the thief. "Sir, could you accompany us to the precinct? We’ll need your cooperation," one officer said to Jiang Cheng.

The nearby woman was also taken to the vehicle, apparently for questioning as well.

"Sir, thank you very much. If I’d lost this, I’d be done for. I really wouldn’t know what to do," the woman spoke tearfully. Jiang Cheng saw her eyes reddening—this seemed to be something very important.

"No problem, glad it wasn’t stolen," Jiang Cheng replied.

"May I know your surname, sir? I truly wish to thank you personally in the future," said the woman.

Jiang Cheng found the gratitude amusing. He couldn’t really say he just arrived here from another world.

It would seem too absurd.

"It’s fine, no need," Jiang Cheng smiled.

The woman said no more, continuing to gaze gratefully at Jiang Cheng.

At the precinct, the officers didn’t question Jiang Cheng much, only asking how he subdued the thief. They thanked him after his account. However, midway through, they asked Jiang Cheng to present identification, which he avoided by claiming he was out without it.

The officers let Jiang Cheng go without further question.

Upon leaving the precinct, Jiang Cheng spotted the woman waiting at the door. As Jiang Cheng stepped out, she hurriedly approached him, "I’ve thought it over, sir, I must thank you."

Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but smile—the persistence was endearing. Looking at her, he said, "Truly no need; to be honest, I just arrived here today."

"Ah, you’re from out of town! That’s even better. Since it’s your first visit here, surely you’re unfamiliar with the area. Let me leave you my phone number—in case you need anything, feel free to contact me," the woman offered cheerfully, intending to give Jiang Cheng her number.

Jiang Cheng, finding it hard to decline, accepted her number.

Walking a few steps, Jiang Cheng suddenly remembered something. He took out his locator and saw there was indeed no signal, he thought.

However, his phone was functional. He tried calling Zhao Shuai, but couldn’t connect. Jiang Cheng found a café and sat down, browsing the internet to learn about his current world. This was indeed a new reality, but the country’s name was shockingly simple—Technology Country. Jiang Cheng found the name quite amusing.

Jiang Cheng examined the country’s history and discovered it was founded recently, though its development was remarkably strong. Gazing at the tangible realities before him, he sighed; the Illusion Realm was undeniably vivid.

Jiang Cheng knew he was in the Capital City of this country. He glanced at the virtual nation’s dossier, feeling a disconnect—it epitomized his ideals, yet it was too illusory, conveying a sense of insubstantiality.

Jiang Cheng walked onward, noticing a large screen displaying a competition. Upon closer inspection, he saw it was about computer operation? Jiang Zai thought he might give it a try, as he couldn’t find a way back.

Jiang Cheng checked the venue location—it was at the Technology Museum, not far away. He quickly arrived at the museum, a place seemingly designed for public visits. Its exterior offered a novel image, and inside, Jiang Cheng discovered numerous intriguing exhibits.
