Chapter 1312: Chapter 1311: Blood Vessels

Jiang Cheng walked to Qiu Qingqing’s room door, knocked first, and there was no sound. "Come in," Qiu Qingqing’s voice came from inside.

Jiang Cheng pushed the door open and saw Qiu Qingqing sitting by the table, looking like she had been up for a while. Everything was neatly arranged.

"Up already? Want to go out for breakfast?" Jiang Cheng asked.

Qiu Qingqing nodded, "Is that person coming too?"

Jiang Cheng nodded, knowing that Qiu Qingqing was referring to the Masked Man.

Qiu Qingqing stood up without any expression and followed Jiang Cheng outside. "Good morning," the Masked Man greeted Qiu Qingqing.

Qiu Qingqing nodded without speaking, silently walking forward. The Masked Man didn’t seem upset, just curved his lips slightly and followed behind Qiu Qingqing. Jiang Cheng walked beside Qiu Qingqing.

They hadn’t walked far when they saw several people gathered ahead, not knowing what they were doing.

Jiang Cheng smelled the scent of porridge and noodles from afar, thinking these people might be cooking. He pondered.

When the people ahead saw Jiang Cheng and the others approaching, they just put down the bowls in their hands and stood aside, resembling well-trained bodyguards.

These people noticed Jiang Cheng and the others approaching, gave just a glance, showing none of the usual surprise toward Qiu Qingqing. Jiang Cheng knew these people must have received training.

"Sit down and eat," the Masked Man said to Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing. Jiang Cheng saw this was a designated kitchen, very large, with a big dining hall beside it. It reminded Jiang Cheng of a college cafeteria.

But it certainly wasn’t that large. However, it was quite sumptuous. It seemed that people of a certain status usually dine here. The workers Jiang Cheng saw shouldn’t be able to enter.

Jiang Cheng didn’t stand on ceremony, and since they were now in someone else’s territory, feeling suspicious about the food was pointless.

Qiu Qingqing also didn’t stand on ceremony, quickly grabbing noodles to eat, and Jiang Cheng sat across from her, sipping porridge. The Masked Man also sat by Qiu Qingqing’s side.

Jiang Cheng noticed that the Masked Man didn’t remove his mask while eating, but he seemed accustomed to eating this way, not finding it odd.

No one spoke during the meal, making Jiang Cheng mistakenly think he was enjoying a pleasant breakfast time.

"Did you get me the detector I wanted?" Qiu Qingqing asked after finishing her meal.

The Masked Man opposite had not finished eating, with a piece of pie in his mouth, appearing somewhat surprised. He probably hadn’t expected Qiu Qingqing to want to start so soon.

"Ah, not yet, can it be ready by tomorrow?" The Masked Man swallowed the pie and looked up at Qiu Qingqing.

Qiu Qingqing nodded without saying another word. Jiang Cheng also sensed Qiu Qingqing’s strong inner anxiety. Previously, Qiu Qingqing seemed completely unruffled and very relaxed.

"After you finish eating, feel free to take a stroll nearby; the scenery here is pretty good," the Masked Man said.

Jiang Cheng was somewhat speechless. Good scenery? Jiang Cheng didn’t want to witness a bloody scene like yesterday again. But he indeed planned to go have a look later.

"I’m leaving first," the Masked Man said and left, and Jiang Cheng suddenly felt this person was really swift in coming and going.

"Let’s go, take a stroll," Qiu Qingqing stood up and said to Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng smiled, thinking Qiu Qingqing’s idea was surely the same as his. Both intended to look around the surroundings.

The two walked forward; this Zhou Country was full of big trees, looking green all over. There weren’t any houses nearby. Jiang Cheng counted; aside from the places where he, Qiu Qingqing, and the Masked Man lived, there were less than ten houses left. It seemed only about twenty people lived here.

But Jiang Cheng recalled seeing those hundreds of people yesterday. These people were detained like criminals. No one escaped; many probably didn’t even think of escaping. These people had guns; what else did they have that those people feared? Jiang Cheng was puzzled.

Moreover, as Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing walked, they only saw trees and streams, all picturesque, but no people.

"Can you find the location of the White Flower Stone with a geological detector?"

Jiang Cheng asked.

"Not sure, let’s try," Qiu Qingqing appeared somewhat helpless.

"Don’t worry too much. There will always be a way," Jiang Cheng said.

Qiu Qingqing pursed her lips, "What do you see ahead?" Qiu Qingqing pointed ahead.

Jiang Cheng looked in the direction Qiu Qingqing pointed. A rainbow appeared in the sky. This was odd. There hadn’t been any rain just now. Jiang Cheng thought.

"Rainbow? Doesn’t it appear after rain?" Jiang Cheng said.

"Yeah, what’s going on?" Qiu Qingqing also asked, puzzled.

"Shall we go and see?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Sure," Qiu Qingqing said, then followed Jiang Cheng forward. "The more I look, the more this rainbow doesn’t seem real," Jiang Cheng said while walking.

"That’s possible," Qiu Qingqing said. "But since we’re on their turf, how dangerous can it be?" Qiu Qingqing said a bit self-deprecatingly.

Jiang Cheng thought it made a lot of sense. That was indeed the case. There was nothing to be afraid of.

They soon reached the place where the rainbow appeared. But as Jiang Cheng got there, he discovered there was someone there. To be precise, one person with a computer.

It seemed likely that the rainbow earlier was created by this guy. Jiang Cheng thought.

This guy was also quite strange. He looked very young, probably just in his teens, but all his attention seemed focused on the computer in front of him.

Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing approached the boy, seeing him completely absorbed at the computer table, his eyes motionless. Jiang Cheng thought it was normal that he hadn’t noticed their approach. He seemed incredibly focused.

Jiang Cheng discovered he was continuously staring at the computer, which appeared to be some sort of simulation experiment.

"Let’s go," Qiu Qingqing said, giving a disdainful glance and speaking to Jiang Cheng, appearing disinterested in watching further. Although Jiang Cheng still wanted to see what this boy was doing.

Just then, the boy suddenly raised his head, apparently noticing Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing, looking at the two baffled, still appearing as if he hadn’t left his world.

"Who are you?" The boy’s skin was very pale, with visible veins, but this paleness seemed to have an unhealthy, morbid quality. It made Jiang Cheng feel a bit uncomfortable.

Jiang Cheng felt somewhat caught off guard, feeling a bit unnatural.

It was as if he had been caught peeking.

"We passed by here and saw the rainbow," Jiang Cheng said.

The boy looked at Qiu Qingqing, a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes. "And you?"

"With him?"

Qiu Qingqing turned to look at Jiang Cheng, "Are you leaving or not?" appearing somewhat angry.

Jiang Cheng was curious. He had a feeling this boy knew Qiu Qingqing. No, it seemed they both knew each other.

"Why the rush? Aren’t you curious about what I’m doing?" the boy looked at Qiu Qingqing playfully. Jiang Cheng now confirmed this boy definitely knew Qiu Qingqing.
