Chapter 1316: Chapter 1315: Settling In
What’s your relationship with the fairy lady just now?" Qiu Qingqing asked as soon as she went out, Bai Ze spoke.
Friends," Jiang Cheng said.
"Just ordinary friends, huh," the boy said with hopeful eyes looking at Jiang Cheng, as if afraid Jiang Cheng would say something negative. Jiang Cheng smiled at the boy whose emotions were written all over his face.
Yeah," Jiang Cheng said, and the boy’s expression immediately relaxed, looking relieved.
Alright, don’t ask anymore, take a nap. I’ll take you to my room first," Jiang Cheng said.
Jiang Cheng was about to carry the boy, "No need, I’ll try by myself," Bai Ze said, trying to sit up. But it proved that he was too weak to even sit up.
Jiang Cheng carried the boy to his room, "You have a lot of strength, though you look tired but still managed to carry me."
You’re just too thin," Jiang Cheng could feel the boy’s rib pressing against his back. Bai Ze was really too thin.
"The food here isn’t good, huh. Heh." The boy said with some grievance.
Jiang Cheng knew too; providing food here was already considered good, let alone eating well and full.
Jiang Cheng placed the boy on his bed, "Lie down first. Is there anything you want to eat?" Jiang Cheng asked.
There are lots of things I want to eat," the boy said excitedly, "roast duck, steak, etc., but you have to consider reality." Jiang Cheng said helplessly. In such a place, how could there be such things?
Okay then. Bring me something tasty as you see fit," the boy said, pouting.
After settling Bai Ze, Jiang Cheng went out. He didn’t really know what food he could bring the boy, so he just walked to the dining area where people were eating. The restaurant folks looked at Jiang Cheng with much respect, likely because the masked man had arranged it. The treatment Jiang Cheng received was quite special.
"Do you want to eat?" a man in an apron proactively asked.
"What food is available?" Jiang Cheng asked.
The man led Jiang Cheng into the kitchen. Though it was a small stove, meals were prepared at specific times. So the dishes were just plated.
Jiang Cheng noticed the dishes were homely. There was even chicken, a pretty complete selection which surprised Jiang Cheng.
People nearby had already prepared tableware for Jiang Cheng to take away, "Please prepare three servings," Jiang Cheng said.
The man nodded and continued to dish up food without stopping. "Thank you," Jiang Cheng received the food quickly served by the man and walked out. As soon as Jiang Cheng stepped out, he saw Qiu Qingqing’s brother.
Qiu Qingqing’s brother smiled, but his fair and slightly pale skin made his lips appear redder. If not for the Adam’s apple on his neck, Jiang Cheng might think he was a girl.
The boy "Jiu Er San" just casually smiled and walked into the restaurant without giving Jiang Cheng another glance.
Jiang Cheng didn’t pay him any mind either. But it seemed like he spoke with Qiu Qingqing quite well. At least, he didn’t seem as resentful as before. But Jiang Cheng feels the boy carries deep-seated negative emotions.
Jiang Cheng brought the food back to the room, where he saw the boy lying on the bed, already asleep. His long curled eyelashes cast a small shadow on his face, making him look more like a child.
Qiu Qingqing was still not there. Jiang Cheng didn’t know where she had gone. He walked to the door, feeling this place was still very dangerous. It’s quite concerning for Qiu Qingqing to be like this.
Sometimes Jiang Cheng was speechless towards Qiu Qingqing. She really was too self-centered, acting without considering Jiang Cheng being her companion. She never mentioned anything, whether it was dangerous or otherwise.
Jiang Cheng suddenly felt a deep sense of powerlessness. Now in this place, only he and Qiu Qingqing were there, isolated and helpless in such a dangerous situation. Sometimes Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but worry when he thought about Qi Rongfeng, Zhao Shuai, and Cloud. And now, Qiu Qingqing surely had things she was hiding from him, but she didn’t discuss them with him.
Jiang Cheng sighed deeply, closed his eyes, and returned to the room to see the boy who had been lying down suddenly sitting at the table and eating. His eating style was like a storm, and soon the dish was finished. The boy was holding a gnawed chicken leg bone while occasionally sipping water beside him.
Eat slowly," Jiang Cheng said, pouring him another glass of water, looking at the boy who, despite eating ravenously, seemed oddly elegant somehow. There wasn’t even a grain of rice on his lips, clearly indicating he had received decent education.
"It’s truly delicious. Thank you so much, brother," the boy said, wiping his mouth casually with paper, showing a satisfied expression.
Jiang Cheng chuckled slightly, "Now you know to call me brother, is the injury healed?"
Why aren’t you resting any longer?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"It’s almost healed. I woke up from the aroma. I haven’t eaten such a nice meal for ages," the boy said, his eyes a bit red. Jiang Cheng was moved too, seeing how skinny and unnaturally pale the boy looked. Many like him worked tirelessly without enough food and hoped for a good meal.
"Lie down first; after all, the injury is so severe." Jiang Cheng looked at the boy with worry. He was just bloodied and messy. How could he be moving now?
"I have good resilience, haha. I’m almost healed."
The boy smiled, patting himself.
Jiang Cheng looked and saw the boy’s face was not as pale as before, but logically, it shouldn’t heal so fast. Normally, injuries like that would take at least a month.
Jiang Cheng went to the boy’s side, checking under his clothes. Jiang Cheng tried touching the boy’s chest, "You’re really okay?"
The boy smiled at Jiang Cheng’s cautiousness, pulled open his clothes to show Jiang Cheng, "Look, after eating your meal, I’m fine, really, thank you, brother."
Jiang Cheng was stunned looking at the boy’s chest. It was just bruised now; no longer the bloody mess Jiang Cheng dressed earlier.
My heavens, what kind of constitution do you have? This extraordinary?" Jiang Cheng exclaimed.
"I told you, my body is special. It heals quickly," the boy said, his eyes glued to the remaining food on the table.
Jiang Cheng found it amusing, "Go ahead and eat," Jiang Cheng said.
"Isn’t this for you and Qing?" The boy spoke thinking it’s inappropriate but still looked at the table longingly.
