"I don’t know. You look about the same age as my dad," the boy said sincerely.

The middle‑aged man and Xiaokang burst out laughing at that. "I’m a lot older than your dad. I’m already fifty," the man said.

"Fifty? No way, you look at most forty." Xiaokang said in surprise.

Jiang Cheng also found it hard to believe. The man only looked middle‑aged; he really took good care of himself.

"I really am fifty, I’m not lying to you," the man said with a smile. "You youngsters all have to call me Uncle." He chuckled.

"So I really should call you Uncle," the boy said earnestly.

"And what about this big brother here? You look really impressive," the boy said, looking at Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng had stayed quiet the whole time, which had drawn the boy’s attention.

"Why do you think I’m impressive?" Jiang Cheng asked, amused.

"Well, you just knew we should go this way. That’s really amazing." The boy looked at Jiang Cheng with admiration.

Jiang Cheng didn’t know why these total strangers trusted him so much that they would follow him this way. "Why do you trust me so easily?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Me? I figured I didn’t know what to do anyway, so I just followed you," Xiaokang said with a smile.

"Yeah, you just seemed reliable, so we followed you. What do you do?" the middle‑aged man asked curiously.

"I’m just here traveling. In my free time I like studying geology," Jiang Cheng said.

"So what should we call you?" the boy asked.

"Just call me Jiang Cheng."

"Brother Jiang! Hehe!" The boy laughed as he came over to Jiang Cheng’s side and wrapped his arm around Jiang Zai’s.

"My surname’s Wang. You can all just call me Uncle Wang," the middle‑aged man said.

"I’m Qi," the boy said. "You can all call me Qiqi, that’s what my friends call me." He smiled as he spoke.

"Qiqi, you’re really so cute." Xiaokang said, ruffling Qi’s hair.

The group walked for three hours straight. The sky was already starting to grow darker, but everyone there, including that uncle in his fifties, was still moving fast, not dragging the group down in the slightest.

"It’s dark. Let’s find a place to settle down and rest. Nights around here probably aren’t very safe," Jiang Cheng said.

Everyone nodded in agreement. "But is there anywhere around here? From what I can see, it’s at least a few hundred meters of just road going up," Qiqi said.
