Chapter 2162: Chapter 2163: Interlude

"Hmm?"

Lin Chen’s words clearly piqued Wang Hao’s interest. He lifted his gaze from the book, looking at Lin Chen with a hint of surprise.

In all the time he had spent in this library, it was the first time someone had said such words.

"What about it?"

"Good indeed, but my Swordsmanship is all about ferocity and dominance. Are you sure it suits you?" Wang Hao was skeptical.

"Honestly, I originally thought Swordsmanship was about agility and lightness, but after seeing your Swordsmanship, I suddenly realized how limited my previous knowledge was, even being overwhelmed by the sword aura in your hand. Just this move alone is far beyond anything recorded here."

Lin Chen spoke slowly, "So if I can’t learn your Swordsmanship, reading these booklets any further would be pointless."

Wang Hao lifted his eyes, and in his view was Lin Chen’s sincere face, seeming not to be lying.

"You’ve certainly spoken well."

Wang Hao suddenly exuded pride, "I have been here for a long time precisely to gather the strengths of all masters and integrate them into stronger Swordsmanship. So the strength of the Swordsmanship you see is because it is the culmination of the essence from the thousands of classics here."

Lin Chen heard this, his expression somewhat solemn. Just seeing the spiritual techniques piled on these bookshelves, he could understand this was a vast project. In this light, it was no wonder Wang Hao had been delayed here for so long.

"I hope you can fulfill my request, senior!" Lin Chen cupped his hands; being able to learn this spiritual technique would greatly enhance his strength.

His earnest expression of learning made Wang Hao slightly moved, but he still seemed to ponder before responding: "Learning it is possible, but can you endure the hardships? If you can, you could indeed give it a try."

"I can!" Lin Chen promised emphatically.

"Alright then, in that case, teaching you may not be out of the question, but you must wait a few days for me, after which I will come find you." Wang Hao thought it over and slowly responded.

"Very well, I’ll wait for you, senior."

Lin Chen finished speaking, informed Wang Hao of his residence, and then headed outside. Inside, he was full of joy.

With Wang Hao’s guidance, Lin Chen no longer needed to select the spiritual techniques himself here. Wang Hao’s own techniques were more than enough for Lin Chen to benefit greatly.

"The few days’ time will coincide with the recovery of my injuries just right."

Lin Chen estimated secretly, planning his recovery roughly to align with Wang Hao’s promised time, ensuring no delays.

...

"Father asked me to bring this over. In these days, he needs to discuss ways to deal with the demon sect with other elders, so he sent me to help heal your injuries."

As night approached, the door was pushed open and Chen Jie entered.

The bright moonlight shone on her fair skin, making it appear even more translucent and alluring.

Lin Chen sat cross-legged on the bed, opening his eyes at her words, momentarily captivated by Chen Jie’s appearance. Promptly returning to his senses, he moved to the center of the room, cupping his hands in respect, "Much obliged."

"No problem."

Chen Jie replied with a smile. Given they had both faced life-and-death situations before, an excess of formalities seemed unnecessary.

Like Chen Lin, Chen Jie placed Lin Chen in a tub filled with medicinal water, occasionally throwing in some herbs. Her movements, however, were noticeably less practiced than Chen Lin’s, yet they possessed a beauty far surpassing his.

Her jade hand lightly lifted, extracting the medicinal aura as the herbs flowed along her fingertips before slowly dripping into the tub. The splashing water drops hit Chen Jie’s clothing, and her thin white garment turned transparent as it absorbed the drops, revealing glimpses of red and white skin beneath.

Lin Chen glanced briefly, his senses overwhelmed by the faint fragrance emanating from the woman behind him, feeling his blood rushing. A strange sensation filled the small room, creating an ambiance of romantic tension.

"What are you doing?!"

A sudden shout, tinged with jealousy, resounded from outside the room.

It was Lin Wan’er, stepping in from outside, holding a plate of freshly made pastries that looked enticing and delicious.

Her initial expression was one of joy upon entering, but upon seeing the scene inside, her expression shifted slightly, and she pouted, placing the pastries on the table.

"Of course... just healing."

Lin Chen snapped back to reality, his composure returning to clarity upon this intrusion. He coughed lightly, seemingly to cover up his embarrassment.

"Wasn’t it Elder Chen who used to heal your injuries?" Lin Wan’er pouted.

"The elder has matters to attend to, so I came to help. Do you have a problem with that?"

Chen Jie lifted her head slightly, with eyes hinting at a provocative challenge.

"Hmph."

Lin Wan’er seemed a tad upset, her mouth pouting. Given the situation was indeed for healing, she couldn’t say much more, though she remained somewhat disgruntled, unsure of the source of her sentiment.

She glared at Chen Jie, her eyes filled with a sense of rivalry.

"Alright, alright, I’m genuinely just healing, otherwise why would I be soaking in here?" Lin Chen, witnessing this situation, coughed lightly, attempting to mediate the situation.

"Well then, Brother Lin, once you’re healed, remember to have some of the food."

Lin Wan’er, seeing this, could say no more. She pointed at the pastries on the table, adding, "Don’t share it with anyone else! I made it myself!"

With that said, without waiting for a response, Lin Wan’er closed the door behind her. The door shut with a loud bang indicating her displeasure.

"Seems like you’re quite popular."

Chen Jie lifted her eyes, her slightly raised brows carrying a hint of teasing.

"Not really..." Lin Chen chuckled awkwardly.

With this interlude, Lin Chen lost some of his initial enthusiasm. He simply closed his eyes, settling into meditation.

The night passed quietly as he slept through it.

When he awoke again, the surroundings were silent, with nothing but the light trilling of birds outside.

Lin Chen rose from the tub, stretching lazily and feeling rejuvenated after a night’s rest.

...

Over the following days, with Chen Jie’s help, Lin Chen gradually recovered. The silver needles at his waist were not removed, yet mysteriously disappeared within Lin Chen’s body, seemingly merging with his flesh. For Lin Chen, it was not discomforting.

His arm injuries also healed, moving everything towards a positive trend.

Lin Chen felt quite delighted, waiting for Wang Hao to arrive.
