Chapter 2316: Chapter 2317: Devour?

Lu Kang’s mind was in turmoil; although his current body was not too bad, when faced with Lin Chen’s physical qualities, he couldn’t help but be even more tempted. After all, Lin Chen’s body was substantially more powerful. Based on his current strength, there is also a great probability.

Under the constant shrouding of black evil qi, Lin Chen’s consciousness seemed to dissipate entirely, with no sound or movement coming from within.

Lu Kang knew this meant the evil qi was devouring Lin Chen’s consciousness, causing his smile to grow even wider.

Surrounded by the black evil qi, with the current Spirit Pill realm cultivation, ordinary people cannot withstand such evil qi. Hence, Lu Kang was not in a hurry, knowing Lin Chen’s being devoured was just a matter of time.

He slowly turned his gaze toward the center of the arena.

The remaining figures on the field were few in number. They put up a stubborn resistance, with Jiang Wei being the most skilled among them at Spirit Pill Ninth Stage, making it quite challenging for those towering figures.

But even so, Jiang Wei’s attacks landed on those tall figures without causing any substantial damage.

Even if they were injured, these tall figures would withdraw and be replaced, while the injured ones retreated to recover.

"Damn it, what kind of monsters are these!"

Jiang Wei seethed with anger; it was unclear how many times he had injured those figures, yet whenever he attempted to deliver a fatal blow, they retreated.

This left Jiang Wei extremely frustrated.

Although he possessed the Spirit Pill Ninth Stage, while his cultivation was high, he couldn’t withstand such exhaustion, especially since those figures seemed tireless.

After a while, Jiang Wei had suffered some injuries.

"Clan Leader, watch out!"

A sudden alert came from behind Jiang Wei; at a moment of distraction, a tall figure behind him crouched down, swinging a powerful fist toward Jiang Wei’s back!

The force of the punch sent vibrations across the ground, carrying up dust and sand, pelting Jiang Wei.

At this moment, another reminder sounded from the side.

It was an elder with white hair and a withered face. After his warning, he swiftly rushed toward Jiang Wei.

He flickered behind Jiang Wei, positioning himself between the punch and Jiang Wei.

He immediately raised his hands, crossed before him, flashing complex seals, which suddenly formed a barrier spreading out in front of the elder.

The pale green light spilled forth, and as the attack descended, it struck in front of the elder. Faced with the old man, the shadow showed no mercy.

Under this pounding, the elder’s light dimmed, the pale green barrier like fragile glass shattered entirely.

Then his body bent from the impact, spitting out turbid blood.

It all happened quickly.

But in that brief time, Jiang Wei had enough breathing space. He turned around, only to see the elder who had been knocked flying by the punch, swooping toward him.

As Jiang Wei’s gaze sharpened, the elder’s figure had already slammed into him—both figures were knocked out, landing some distance away with a loud crash.

"Elder Jiang Yuan!"

Amidst the swirling dust and gravel, there came an anguished, furious roar, the sound filled with extreme grief and numerous anger.

Through the pounding motion, Jiang Yuan was clearly not going to make it. His eyes closed, still uncontrollably coughing blood.

Jiang Wei cradled his body in his arms, his expression consumed by rage.

If not for Jiang Yuan using his body to block majority of the fist’s attack at that moment, whether Jiang Wei could live safely now would be questionable.

After all, the ferocity of the shadow’s strike was beyond what their bodies could withstand.

A moment later, Jiang Wei took a deep breath, his gaze sharp; as he stood, an aura emanated from him.

Jiang Wei might have been indifferent, as he was toward Jiang Ningyan, but he acted for the clan’s sake. Now, with the death of the elder who watched him grow, a sting of sadness infests his heart, leading to an outbreak of anger.

"What a bore."

To Lu Kang, this scene appeared quite tedious; he despised the so-called sentiment. He might have had it once, but now he’s long let it wither away completely.

As he saw Jiang Wei once more charging toward the battlefield, he shook his head in disdain. Anger would not add even the slightest strength to Jiang Wei. Right now, Lu Kang had no desire to set foot on the battlefield; those few figures were surely enough.

He then looked toward Lin Chen’s place, estimated the time, and spoke softly, "Timing should be about right."

In his whisper, Lin Chen indeed showed some changes.

Within the aura of black evil qi, there was a slight turbulence, a faint sound.

It was Lin Chen; after experiencing the needle-like headache, finally relaxed, restoring his consciousness back to his original body.

But when his consciousness sank slightly into the sea of awareness, he was stunned.

In his sea of awareness, clarity was gone, replaced by rampant dark qi, now expanded as if tired of its cobweb-like form, occupying all space within Lin Chen’s sea of awareness.

And as Lin Chen’s consciousness plunged into it, it was akin to falling into complete darkness. But oddly, despite the pitch-black sea of awareness, Lin Chen didn’t feel blinded. His consciousness traversed with no obstacle.

This left Lin Chen even more puzzled.

Now evidently was not the time for Lin Chen’s confusion; he could only put aside these questions and then open his eyes.

At some point, the third eye on his brow had opened, once a round gemstone now transformed into a pupil constantly roving, perceiving the scene outside clearly.

He straightened his slightly bent knee, and though the longsword previously carrying intense attack force now lacked momentum, like unwillingness, it quietly rested on Lin Chen’s ancient sword, refusing to fall.

Lin Chen furrowed his brow slightly and, after a moment of thought, slowly moved his hand toward the sword.
