Chapter 2330: Chapter 2331: Jiang Liang

Tang Ming was stunned, and before he could react, Lin Chen had already taken a step forward.

As he moved, the momentum around him surged violently, a manifestation of Spiritual Energy that emitted fiercely. The brawny man who had been strutting arrogantly at the entrance was momentarily frozen, feeling the immensely challenging aura emanating from Lin Chen.

"What, you still want to be an enemy of my Jiang family? You should know my Jiang... ah..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lin Chen had already become somewhat impatient. He took another step forward and kicked the man in the abdomen.

A sudden wave of sharp pain rapidly spread through the man’s abdomen.

Then, his body seemed as if it was struck heavily, shrinking mid-air, and he crashed into the hard gate of the Jiang family.

A loud thud reverberated, causing the door to shake continually, and the plaque above it even wobbled, showing signs of gradually falling.

"People always think so highly of themselves," Lin Chen said indifferently, shaking his head, not knowing if he was referring to the man collapsed on the ground or the others inside the gate.

"Who is this guy, so fierce, dare to take on the Jiang family? He’s got a death wish?"

"He must have just arrived in Qingmu City not long ago. Although the Jiang family is currently suppressed by the Jin family, their foundation is still considerable."

The commotion naturally attracted the interest of the original passersby in Qingmu City. They stopped at a distance, not daring to get too close, but their curious eyes relentlessly scanned Tang Ming and Lin Chen.

Some might recognize Tang Ming, but Lin Chen was extremely unfamiliar to them.

"Cough... how dare you hit someone?"

The other brawny men glared at Lin Chen angrily, their hands trembling slightly, sweating a little.

Though their tone was extremely unfriendly, even questioning Lin Chen, their evasive glances clearly revealed their great fear of Lin Chen’s display of strength.

Yet, due to their role as protectors, they had to toughen up and continue questioning.

"If you don’t want to end up like him, get out of the way," Lin Chen said indifferently, pointing at the brawny man on the ground who was continuously coughing up blood without making any sound, his face twitching horribly.

A gulping sound came from the mouths of those men. Even a fool could see that Lin Chen was not someone to mess with, given his powerful strike.

"Alright."

Someone muttered softly, then ran to one side. Following this action, the brawny men standing before Lin Chen also scattered quickly.

They were merely protectors and didn’t want to end up as miserably beaten by Lin Chen.

...

Meanwhile, in the midst of this external upheaval caused by Lin Chen, a debate arose within a house quite far from the gate.

"Elder Jiang, you are putting our Jiang family in a disgraceful position!"

In one of the halls, Jiang Ningyan’s face turned somewhat grim. She flushed red, arguing vehemently with the elderly man with white hair before her.

"Miss, you worry too much. This person has an unclear background; how can we easily agree to his demands?"

The elderly man with white hair raised his head proudly, looking very arrogant. It was Jiang Husheng who had been dispatched by Jiang Wei to gather Rebirth Grass.

His eyes narrowed slightly, filled with smugness.

"You want Rebirth Grass; I won’t give it to you. Acting so wildly in the mountains and forests, I want to see how much havoc you can wreak in the city."

The elder stroked his beard with a calm demeanor.

His viewpoint wasn’t entirely unreasonable. Although the Jiang family was no match for the Jin family, they had no fear of ordinary people. Thinking Lin Chen could shake the Jiang family’s status would be sheer folly.

"But that’s something Dad promised personally. Besides, if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have made it back alive. How can such gratitude not be repaid?" Jiang Ningyan was still deeply offended.

Had it not been for Lin Chen’s repeated rescues, she would have long perished in the mountains and forests, and wouldn’t have returned safely now.

"That’s purely coincidental. He saved you perhaps because he was interested in your status, thinking it could help him obtain something, not because of some nonsense like valiantly helping others,"

A cold voice suddenly resonated through the hall. A middle-aged man slowly walked in.

"Second Uncle..." Jiang Ningyan turned to look at the newcomer, her expression froze.

The man appeared to be in his forties, with a stern look between his brows. His facial features somewhat resembled Jiang Wei, yet the coldness was vastly different.

When Jiang Wei saw individuals he cared about, his expression would sometimes fluctuate. However, this man’s indifference came from within, as if nothing in the world could catch his eye or cause any emotional stir.

"Xiao Yan, the outside world is not as peaceful as you imagine. You are not young anymore; it’s time to discern right from wrong."

The man spoke slowly, his tone very cold. Though Jiang Ningyan addressed him as Second Uncle, there was no warmth in his demeanor.

"Now I see why Elder Jiang is so bold, it’s because Second Uncle is backing him."

Jiang Ningyan was not foolish. Seeing her Second Uncle, Jiang Liang, arriving made things clear to her.

"What are you talking about? With your father absent, I naturally have to shoulder the family’s burdens. How can I just stand by and let mistakes happen?"

Jiang Liang stepped into the hall, then seated himself in the main position with the same cold demeanor.

"Really?"

Jiang Ningyan sneered coldly, casting a disdainful glance at Jiang Liang seated at the head, biting her lip harder.

The position traditionally reserved for the Family Head was now occupied by Jiang Liang, clearly signifying his intent.

"It’s a shame my father trusted you so much." Jiang Ningyan spat lightly at Jiang Husheng

"I am loyal to the family, not to a Clan Leader who errs," Jiang Husheng scoffed repeatedly.

Seeing this, Jiang Ningyan realized there was no point in arguing further; she walked away, unwilling to linger there.

"Xiao Yan, better not run around now. Otherwise, if the Jin family comes asking for people, it’ll be troublesome."

Jiang Liang’s tone remained cold. Unaware of Jin Yuwen’s demise, he still considered Jiang Ningyan as Jin Yuwen’s fiancée. Hence, he wouldn’t let Jiang Ningyan leave just yet.
