Chapter 2337: Chapter 2338: The Past
So even though it isn’t pretty, Fang Qianqian has no intention of removing it. After all, she’s been used to it for more than ten years.
Yet, despite this familiarity, she still wants to know why this thing has appeared on her body.
Lin Chen remained silent. He was not a Pharmacist, so naturally, he could not easily remove it.
"But it’s not all bad. At least it’s not on your face."
Fang Qianqian comforted softly, her tone gentle.
"Hmm."
Lin Chen nodded slightly.
...
"Are you saying she has a scent you’re familiar with?"
After leaving Fang Qianqian’s residence, Lin Chen returned to his courtyard.
The little creature that accompanied him seemed extremely excited after leaving there and gestured frantically to Lin Chen.
Having spent a long time with the little creature, Lin Chen was able to understand its gestures.
Woo woo.
As if in affirmation, the little creature nodded vigorously.
It hadn’t felt anything at first, but after hearing distant sounds and catching a familiar scent, it ran all the way over there.
That scent, emanated from Fang Qianqian.
"This is strange. She’s human. How can she have a scent familiar to you?"
Lin Chen frowned, pondering.
This scent might either be a lingering smell from a beast that Fang Qianqian came into contact with, or Fang Qianqian herself has some sort of secret.
But from Lin Chen’s perspective, she is just an ordinary person, with no cultivation or remarkable physical attributes. How could there be secrets on her?
Lin Chen was perplexed.
Yet, the young lady of the Fang family does have an aura of scholarly elegance, making Lin Chen feel at ease conversing with her.
"I’ll wait until I see her later, and then ask." Lin Chen gently stroked the creature’s head, speaking softly.
"Brother Lin, who are you going to ask?"
At this moment, the door behind Lin Chen creaked open, and Tang Ming emerged slowly. After some rest, he felt incredibly relaxed.
He had caught Lin Chen’s words just as he was about to step out.
"Fang Qianqian. I wonder how much you know about her, Tang Ming." Lin Chen inquired.
Having grown up in Qingmu City, Tang Ming should have some knowledge on these matters.
Tang Ming hesitated slightly, then slowly began to speak: "You’re talking about her? She’s quite a pitiable person."
"It’s said that she was extremely talented in her youth, whether in literature, commerce, or any field she mastered. At just eleven or twelve years old, she’d already reached the ninth level of Spirit Refining and was accepted as a disciple somewhere."
Tang Ming paused briefly, seemingly recalling everything about Fang Qianqian, while Lin Chen waited patiently without interruption.
"Back then, the Fang family was at its peak. They were the masters of Qingmu City, unlike their current decline. However, for some unknown reason, she was sent back later, covered in wounds, terrifyingly so. Luckily, she survived, but her cultivation was completely ruined..."
Lin Chen was taken aback, finding it hard to imagine that the woman who just smiled so serenely had such a shocking past.
"So, it was around that time that the Fang family became what it is now?" Lin Chen frowned.
"Yes. All the Fang family’s wealth was spent on healing Fang Qianqian, which greatly weakened their strength, nowhere near their former glory..."
"More importantly, she apparently provoked someone in that enigmatic sect, resulting in their downfall. If it weren’t for others’ protection, she and the entire Fang family would have been wiped out."
Tang Ming whispered in Lin Chen’s ear, as if fearing others might overhear.
And rightly so, being guests in someone’s home, discussing their family’s past felt somewhat inappropriate.
"What kind of place is this mysterious sect?" Lin Chen continued questioning.
"Who knows? These places seem so distant to me that it’s impossible to know the details, and this is all hearsay, its authenticity unknown."
Tang Ming shrugged, acknowledging the potential inaccuracies in stories not witnessed firsthand.
"Alright."
Lin Chen nodded, understanding the situation.
If this was true, according to Tang Ming, Fang Qianqian indeed was a pitiable soul, he sighed softly.
Despite such changes, there wasn’t a trace of resentment on her face. Such calmness was something even Lin Chen might struggle to achieve.
"Maybe... my Cultivation Technique could help her?"
Lin Chen frowned, contemplating.
Previously, Fang Tianming had retrained Lin Chen’s Cultivation Technique due to his broken path, returning to cultivation.
Though Fang Qianqian’s situation was different, perhaps it was worth trying; only, it was uncertain if Fang Qianqian would want that. After being an ordinary person for so long, despite the simplicity, there was some stability. Unlike cultivators, who battle the heavens and others, engaged in endless conflict.
By evening, Fang Lin arrived.
Perhaps to show sincerity, he did not have a servant receive them but personally visited to invite Lin Chen to a banquet.
"I apologize for the rush at noon. I hope young brother Lin doesn’t mind too much. You’re guaranteed to be satisfied with tonight’s meal." Fang Lin smiled softly, guiding Lin Chen and Tang Ming to the hall.
Already seated there was a woman—Fang Qianqian, whom Lin Chen had seen earlier.
She stood up, slightly bowing in greeting to Lin Chen and Tang Ming.
"This is my daughter, Qianqian," Fang Lin introduced.
"Father, we’ve already met this afternoon," Fang Qianqian said, smiling.
"It doesn’t hurt to introduce again," Fang Lin replied.
Lin Chen looked at the father and daughter before him, noticing their good relationship, unlike Jiang Ningyan and Jiang Wei, he couldn’t help but reflect.
This meal was quite busy. Several times, Fang Lin looked at Lin Chen with a heated gaze. His lips twitched as if wanting to speak, but under Fang Qianqian’s glances, he swallowed the words back down.
This seemed to trouble him greatly, and he frequently raised his cup to drink. In no time, his face reddened slightly.
Lin Chen observed all this, choosing not to speak, quietly watching the situation unfold.
