Chapter 2362: Chapter 2363: Union
Lin Chen gasped in surprise, his eyes filled with shock. He hadn’t expected these rituals to have such a trick up their sleeve.
The creature before him, now merged into one, didn’t appear tall; rather, it was about the size of an ordinary person. Wrapped in a black shroud of Evil Qi, it looked more like it was draped in a thick black cloak.
Especially its facial features, which were not distinct when it was a collection of different entities, but now, as it merged, its features revealed themselves.
Yet, they were exceptionally grotesque.
Because on its forehead, three eyes were staggered, each as large as a bronze bell, and as they swiveled in their sockets, it seemed as if they were scanning the surroundings.
Lin Chen didn’t have time to take a closer look because, in that instant, the creature’s figure had already reached his side.
Its speed was much faster than before, like a fierce tiger charging downhill, accompanied by whistling winds, which seemed to transform into sharp blades as it raised its arms, turning those winds into weapons that surged downward.
Xiaobai bared its fangs, thick saliva dripping from its parted lips.
Gazing at this figure, it showed no fear but a fierce glint in its eyes, as it was a wild beast by nature, unafraid of strange things.
"Xiaobai, this is too strange, we should avoid it for now."
Lin Chen was still shaken, this appearance of the creature truly instilled fear in him. Unknown things were always the most unsettling.
Right now, Lin Chen didn’t plan to confront it head-on immediately; he wanted to escape first, to see how much stronger its attack was compared to before!
As Lin Chen spoke, Xiaobai put away its original ferocity, following Lin Chen’s command, swiftly lowering its body close to the ground as it moved.
Xiaobai didn’t completely touch the ground, maintaining a few inches of distance as it ran, which allowed it to keep a great speed similar to flying.
Its wings swept madly behind it, kicking up dirt, the tiny gravel swirling into a dense net, and amidst the yellow haze, two figures could be seen racing, one chasing and one fleeing.
Following Lin Chen’s command, Xiaobai circled closer to the direction of the magic cult.
There was a reason for Lin Chen’s actions; he needed to find an opportunity to eliminate those few people. Once these rituals were destroyed, this strange thing would naturally vanish.
But Xiaobai’s speed, once prideful, was now falling short. It was running with all its might, but still slower than this creature!
The creature closed in, its hands not appearing particularly strong but it soared above Lin Chen, flying parallel to Xiaobai before spreading its arms like an eagle, descending from above. Its eyes locked onto Lin Chen and Xiaobai, and as it approached, its arms gradually closed in.
"Let’s see where you can run now!"
A few ritualists stood surrounded by several strong men, sitting in formation with their arms crossed, their faces indifferent as they looked at Lin Chen. Whenever Lin Chen approached, they would unleash a powerful palm strike.
The Qi Force in their palms was so strong that even Lin Chen dared not underestimate it, which also showed that the cultivators of this magic cult possessed exceptionally powerful strength.
This reminded Lin Chen of Lu Kang in the air. His physical attributes must have also come from practicing the magic cult’s cultivation method, but his was even stronger than these cultists.
One of the ritualists coughed lightly, a faint blood color sprayed from his mouth, diluted like clean water, almost transparent.
He cast a resentful glance at Lin Chen. Were it not for Lin Chen, they wouldn’t be forced to this last resort. This merged creature, although greatly enhanced in strength and speed, consumed a tremendous amount of mental energy.
Especially if someone were to break through the strongmen and attack them, injuring one would seriously impact all the others.
United they stand, divided they fall!
Lin Chen’s face sank. He knew the thing before him wasn’t easy to resist, but he had no retreat.
The creature’s iron-grip-like arms descended from above, leaving Lin Chen no chance to counterattack.
His breath was tightly locked by the creature, even if he wanted Xiaobai to advance or retreat, the creature would swiftly follow, without a second’s delay.
"You go first."
Suddenly, Lin Chen sprang from Xiaobai’s back, leaping towards the chest of the humanoid creature. The Longsword in his hand emitted a chilling light, as cold and sharp as his gaze.
In less than a moment after Lin Chen leapt, the creature that had been following Xiaobai stalled slightly, its focus entirely on Lin Chen.
Its only target was Lin Chen, so it didn’t bother chasing Xiaobai.
Xiaobai evidently didn’t realize, its speed too great, and less than a breath after Lin Chen spoke, its body had shot out dozens of meters.
When it finally realized, it saw Lin Chen’s body nearly grasped by the creature’s hands.
Roar!
Xiaobai roared, as if ready to spring back to rescue.
But even with its speed, Lin Chen’s leap placed him too close to the creature.
When Lin Chen struck the creature with his sword, it showed no sign of pain, only a cold indifference.
Its hands opened wide, and with a flex, the bones surged beneath the seemingly normal hands. Within moments, they expanded!
It clamped onto Lin Chen’s arms, then squeezed hard!
As the hands clenched, Lin Chen’s face contorted. Although prepared for the creature’s strength, he underestimated its terrifying power in such a fierce grip.
His muscles ached intensely under the crushing force, feeling as if they were about to burst.
