"Mom, I'm just drawing for fun. It's trendy now," Wang Xiaoqiang said evasively, feeling a bit nervous as he approached his hometown and momentarily forgot to cover the lightning mark on his forehead. But it was no big deal; he could just brush it off casually.
"Hey? Look at you, you're in your thirties, almost a grandpa now, and still trying to be cool like the little kids..." his mother teased him with a smile.
"A grandpa?" Wang Xiaoqiang was taken aback, "Mom, does that mean Little Bao is already married?"
"Not yet, but it's planned for this year... we were worried you wouldn't be able to attend your son's wedding..." Wang Kuishan also laughed, his face full of joy.
"Dad, isn't this... too fast?" Wang Xiaoqiang smiled bitterly, "Little Bao is only sixteen..."
"So what if he's sixteen? He's taller than you, hahaha..." his mother laughed heartily.
After saying this, his father, Wang Kuishan, couldn't help but look at his son closely and said curiously, "Hey, dear, look at our Little Qiang, why does he never seem to age? Has he been living in a refrigerator all these years?"
Seeing that his father had noticed something, Wang Xiaoqiang quickly replied with a smile, "Dad, I've been practicing martial arts all these years. When you exercise, you naturally look young and energetic." Wang Xiaoqiang said, brushing off the incident with the two big shepherd dogs as well.
"Tch, you old guy, who fears their son looking old? No one complains about their son being young," his mother shot a glance at his father.
"Right, of course being young is good," Wang Kuishan laughed heartily.
"Qiangzi, have you been to the villa to see your wife?" his mother asked, glancing at his clothes.
Wang Xiaoqiang was wearing a yellow tank top and blue shorts, both old and worn-out, which were typical street vendor stuff.
These clothes weren't his own; on his way to the village, he spotted them hanging outside Zhao Erlu's house at the village entrance and quickly swapped them.
The wide robe and sleeves he wore in the Biluo Realm were torn apart and discarded. Besides acting in a period drama, such attire really couldn't be worn on Earth, especially at night; it would scare people to death.
Seeing her son dressed casually, his mother assumed he had already been home and changed clothes, hence the question.
"No, I've just rushed here as soon as I got back," Wang Xiaoqiang replied honestly.
"Then your clothes are too big and don't fit at all," his mother remarked curiously.
It was no wonder, as Zhao Erlu was 1.89 meters tall, resembling a big donkey, while Wang Xiaoqiang was 1.75 meters tall. Naturally, Zhao Erlu's clothes seemed oversized on Wang Xiaoqiang.
"Uh, I'll change when I go back later," Wang Xiaoqiang glanced at his clothes, feeling embarrassed.
While the family chatted in the living room, two maids in the kitchen talked about Wang Xiaoqiang.
"Hey, Little Juan, what's the Wang family's second son doing?" the maid named Hongmei asked.
"No idea, I've only heard the Two Elders of the Wang Family talking about him, saying their son is capable, must be doing something big..." Little Juan replied absentmindedly.
"Tch, doesn't look like it..." Hongmei shook her head, a hint of disdain on her face.
"Someone doing big things wouldn't come back empty-handed after years to see his parents; have you seen anyone doing big things like this?"
"People doing big things tend to be low-key. Besides, the Wang family is wealthy; there's no need to bring anything for his parents..." Little Juan said indifferently.
"Even low-key isn't this low-key. And look at what he's wearing, all street vendor stuff. Now even in the countryside, anyone with a bit of money doesn't wear such clothes..." Maid Hongmei's disdain grew stronger.
"You shouldn't judge based on appearances; maybe he's just being frugal," Little Juan said, "and didn't you hear the old man say it? Little Farmer Company was founded by their second son; Little Bao only inherits the family business..."
"He founded it? He's barely in his thirties; how could he have founded such a major international company..." Hongmei shook her head, full of disbelief, "I bet he's struggling and destitute, and the Two Elders of the Wang Family deliberately say that to save face for their son..."
Little Juan stopped talking; as a maid, she's not as fond of gossip as Hongmei.
"I think Little Farmer Company should belong to Boss Wang. Look at Boss Wang now, he's a national real estate tycoon. Little Farmer Company must be something he left behind, seeing poor economic returns, he passed it to his nephew, and the old couple, considering the second son's image, deliberately say it was founded by him..." Hongmei said this with glowing eyes as if she's seeing Wang Dali, dressed in a suit with an aura of wealth.
"You..." Little Juan scooped some homemade egg hand-rolled noodles into a bowl, poking Hongmei's forehead with a finger, "Your imagination is really big, daring to think of anything. Little Farmer Company is a multinational company, while Boss Wang's real estate company is limited to domestic markets; can't you see which is bigger?"
"Tch, dealing in agricultural products, selling vegetables and eggs, how can it compare to selling houses and villas..." Hongmei replied disdainfully.
"Alright, I'm not arguing with you. Take this bowl of noodles to them; I'll wash the pot..." Little Juan said.
"I bet this bowl of noodles will be gone in five minutes," Hongmei said.
"Sure, I'm not bragging, my noodles rival a restaurant's chef's," Little Juan said.
"I didn't mean your noodles are good; I think Wang Family's second son must be starving. Didn't you hear him say he'd eaten, but still didn't refuse the noodles, he's just pretending..." Hongmei said...
"In my opinion, he's probably penniless out there and came back to sponge off his parents."
"Your mouth is too harsh," Little Juan teased, "Even if he's doing poorly, the family's company is so big, he's not going hungry..."
"Not necessarily, those incapable but face-saving rich 'second-generation' might refuse help from the family and end up starving," Hongmei picked up the egg hand-rolled noodles and walked out of the kitchen towards the living room.
As she approached the living room door, she overheard Wang Xiaoqiang saying, "Dad, Mom, this time I came back in a rush, so I didn't bring you anything..."
"Hey, there's nothing lacking at home," the couple said together, appearing indifferent.
Hearing this, Hongmei felt smug, secretly disdainful, thinking, "See, I told you, he hasn't been back for years and brought nothing for the folks, just here for free food."
In the living room, Wang Xiaoqiang was about to take out the Immortal Pill for the elders when he saw Hongmei bringing in the noodles and halted his actions. Such significant matters as the Immortal Pill couldn't be disclosed to outsiders.
"The noodles are ready, but they're a bit hot; let them cool before eating," Hongmei said deliberately as she placed the egg hand-rolled noodles on the table.
Wang Xiaoqiang glanced at the bowl, seeing finely hand-rolled noodles with two beaten eggs, sprinkled with green onions, cilantro, and drizzled with sesame oil, a large bowl full of enticing aroma, he instantly felt his appetite stir, so he smiled at Hongmei and said, "Noodles are best eaten hot; they taste better when hot..."
He then sat at the table, not fearing the heat, and devoured the noodles voraciously.
Watching their son eat heartily, Wang Kuishan and his wife beamed with smiles.
Hongmei also smiled, but her smile was tinged with disdain, secretly thinking, "I hit the nail on the head; by the looks of it, he must not have eaten for days, almost like a starving ghost."
