Chapter 2257: Chapter 1465: That Hand (3)
In the ward, the old man had already changed into his own clothes, a dark blue jacket, with his hair neatly combed, and his complexion looked much better than before the surgery. His wife stood beside him, carrying large bags in her hands, her eyes slightly red.
"Professor Yang!" The old man saw Yang Ping, his voice as loud as a command on the playground, "You’re here!"
"You look good." Yang Ping walked over, picked up the stethoscope and listened to his lungs, "Breath sounds are clear, no dry or wet rales. Take it easy when you get home, take your medication on time, and come back for a check-up in a month."
"Got it, got it." The old man nodded repeatedly, "Director He has instructed me, the medication is prescribed, the precautions are written down, I’ve noted everything in my little notebook."
He pulled out a palm-sized notebook from his pocket, flipped it open, and it was densely packed with writing. Yang Ping glanced at it, the handwriting was neat, the content detailed, even the times for taking medication were clearly marked.
Yang Ping put away the stethoscope.
"Take good care of yourself." He said, "Your body’s condition is good, you’re recovering faster than I expected."
"Isn’t it because you and Director He’s surgery was good." The old man gripped Yang Ping’s hand tightly, "Professor Yang, you’ve saved my life. I may not have the chance to repay you in this lifetime, but I will live well and not waste your effort."
Yang Ping looked at him, wanting to say something, but felt that anything he said would be unnecessary.
"Living well is the best way to repay." He replied.
As he walked out of the ward, Director He followed him.
"Thank you, Professor Yang." Director He’s voice was very soft, but very sincere, "If you weren’t standing next to me for this surgery, I wouldn’t have dared to perform it. You not only saved the patient, you also gave me confidence."
Yang Ping said, "The skill is yours, I was just standing there watching."
"You standing there is more effective than anything else."
Yang Ping didn’t respond. He patted Director He on the shoulder, then turned and walked away.
As he walked out of the inpatient building, he saw Lin Xiaoyu.
The girl was sitting in a wheelchair, being pushed by a caregiver to bask in the sun outside. Her complexion looked better than it did a few days ago; though not fully recovered, it was at least no longer as pale as before. Her eyes were open, looking at the clouds in the sky with a very calm expression.
"Xiaoyu." Yang Ping walked over.
The girl turned her head, saw him, and her mouth curved slightly, which could count as a smile.
"Professor Yang."
"How are you feeling today?"
"A bit better." Her voice was still light, but it had a bit more strength than it did the two days after the first infusion, "I didn’t have a fever last night, and this morning I had a bowl of porridge."
"That’s good." Yang Ping squatted down to meet her gaze, "Do you want to get up and walk a bit?"
The girl was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
The caregiver helped her stand up from the wheelchair. Her legs were still a bit weak, not standing very steadily, but she was able to stand on her own, without needing support. Yang Ping stepped back two steps and opened his arms, like catching a toddler taking wobbly steps.
"Come, walk to me."
The girl hesitated for a second, then took a step.
One step, two steps, three steps.
She walked up to Yang Ping, reached out her hand, and touched his palm.
"Good!" Yang Ping smiled, "You walked two more steps than yesterday."
The girl lifted her head, looked into his eyes: "Professor Yang, will I be okay?"
This question was exactly the same as the one Sisi asked years ago.
Yang Ping looked at her, paused for a moment: "You will be okay!"
