Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop
Chapter 620: Evacuation (Part 2)The first move of the Bone-Breaking Staff Technique is the sweeping staff technique.
The stick is pushed horizontally, sweeping along the ground in an arc, aiming for the knee.
"call!"
The wooden stick cut through the air, creating a gust of wind.
The second move is the chopping stick.
The stick slams down from above, carrying the full force of the body, aiming for the shoulder and collarbone.
"Bang!"
The end of the stick slammed into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The third move: the spiked club.
...
He has already mastered these three techniques to a certain extent.
But he hasn't even scratched the surface of the next three moves.
The fourth move, Entangling the Staff, involves pressing the staff against the opponent's weapon, then twisting and turning it to use the opponent's force against them, causing the weapon to deflect or slip from their grasp.
The fifth move, "Crushing Staff," is a short, sharp strike with the tip of the staff exploding with explosive force, specifically designed to hit the opponent's arm after they have blocked.
The sixth move, Returning the Staff, involves retracting the staff and turning around, with the end of the staff striking behind or to the side. It appears to be the end of the move, but in reality, it is a final strike.
Stone's movements were not fancy, even somewhat stiff, but each strike carried considerable force.
He repeated these three moves over and over again, his coarse cloth shirt soaked with sweat, and the veins on his arms bulging.
Not far away, the three outer disciples who were cooking were stirring the porridge in the pot while glancing at the stone.
"Is that kid crazy? He's been traveling all day, and he still has the energy to train? He's even more ruthless than I was back in my day."
"Aren't you going to talk nonsense? Your father was an old disciple of the outer sect. You must have taken a lot of potions back then, right? And you also had your father's guidance. Otherwise, how could you have achieved mastery? Keep dreaming."
"Aren't you the same? Your sister became a concubine of a senior brother in the Innate Realm so that you could cultivate it. Now that your brother-in-law is gone, why don't you marry your sister to me?"
"Holy crap! You're like a toad trying to eat a swan!"
The man rolled up his sleeves, ready to fight, and the other man also stood up; it looked like the two were about to start a fight.
"Alright!"
Suddenly, a tall, thin man spoke up and grabbed both of their shoulders.
His name is Zhang Ergou. He is the oldest of the three and the only outer disciple who truly achieved mastery through his own talent.
"Alright, alright! What are you two arguing about? Do you have a death wish or something? General Sun is right ahead. If this really starts, throwing you out to feed the wild beasts would be the least of your worries!"
The two exchanged a glance, each scoffed, and then sat back down by the fire.
Zhang Ergou quickly changed the subject, glancing at the young man in the distance again: "But to be honest, that kid is hardworking and ruthless. He's already reached the threshold of mastery in the first three moves; his foundation is solid."
"But for the last three moves, he definitely just glanced at the manual and figured them out on his own."
"Look, after he finished practicing the spear technique, he subconsciously tried to follow up with the fourth move, the wrapping staff, but the staff broke apart as soon as it touched the ground. He didn't have the awareness to use the opponent's force against them, so he couldn't execute the twisting and turning movements at all, which was a complete waste."
"Not to mention the fifth move, the Crushing Staff. He hasn't even grasped the basics of generating power with inch force. His short bursts rely entirely on brute force. At most, it hurts a bit when it hits someone, but it can't cripple the weapon-wielding hand at all."
"As for the sixth move, 'Returning the Staff,' it's a move to finish off the opponent and deliver a finishing blow. It emphasizes the connection and rhythm after the first five moves. He can't even connect the fourth and fifth moves, so 'Returning the Staff' is just a castle in the air for him."
"If you keep practicing like this, no matter how solid the first three forms are, if you can't apply the last three, the whole staff technique will always remain a half-finished product. Want to master it? It'll be difficult in less than three to five years."
"Oh?" a voice suddenly came from the side. "If you were to guide him, and give him some potions and blood crystals, how long would it take him to reach mastery?"
Without turning his head, Zhang Ergou casually replied, "If there's enough potion and blood crystal, and this kid has good talent, he'll be close to mastering the Great Perfection by the time we get to the teleportation portal."
After he finished speaking, he realized something was wrong. He turned around and saw that Sun Que had been standing behind the three of them, looking down at him.
Zhang Ergou jumped to his feet, and Qian Wu and Zhou Heizi followed suit, bowing lower than the rice stalks in the field: "General Sun!"
Sun Que ignored the other two and asked Zhang Ergou, "That man is called Shi Tou. Go and instruct him now. After he finishes training, take him to Chen San to get the potions and blood crystals."
Zhang Ergou was taken aback at first, then thumped his chest loudly: "General Sun, don't worry, I've got it covered! My staff skills are among the best in the entire outer sect!"
Sun Que grunted in agreement and turned to leave.
Once they were out of sight, he turned his back to the three of them and said, "After he's finished practicing, teach him something else. Don't hold back."
Zhang Ergou trembled and replied repeatedly, "How could I dare to hold back! I will definitely teach him as my own apprentice!"
After Sun Que walked away, Qian Wu and Zhou Heizi straightened up and looked at Zhang Ergou as if they had seen gold nuggets falling from the sky.
"Ergou, you've really struck it rich this time."
"Get rich my ass." Zhang Ergou wiped the sweat from his forehead, but the corners of his mouth were turned up so wide that he couldn't suppress it.
He glanced at the boy in the distance who was practicing the third move, and whispered, "That kid is my disciple from today onwards."
After saying that, he tightened his belt and strode over there.
In the distance, Ah Shi was practicing the third move, the spiked staff.
The wooden stick cut through the wind, shooting straight out as if to pierce a hole in the air in front of it.
He didn't notice that there was another person behind him.
Zhang Ergou watched for a while with his arms crossed, then suddenly said, "That's not how you thrust a spiked club. Your waist is too stiff, and all the power is concentrated in your arm. For the next strike, use your hips to drive your waist, and your waist to drive your shoulder. When you thrust it out, the tip of the club should be pressed down half an inch."
"Who?" Ashi put away his stick and turned around. Seeing that it was an unfamiliar disciple of the Demonic Sect, he subconsciously held the stick horizontally in front of him, his eyes full of vigilance.
He recognized the man; he had been in the group for several days, but had never spoken to him before.
“My name is Zhang Ergou.” Zhang Ergou didn’t care about his guard up and raised his chin. “I just saw you practice a few moves. Your foundation is not bad, but your power is not right. Try to correct it according to my instructions and then give me another blow.”
Ashi hesitated for a moment, then returned to his original spot.
He took a deep breath, picked up the wooden stick again, twisted his waist and hips, and pushed the tip of the stick forward.
This time, his waist did indeed extend forward, and the stick seemed to spring out of his body, the sound of it cutting through the air even louder than before.
“Yes, that’s it.” Zhang Ergou nodded, then took two steps closer. “Try it out for me.”
Ashi didn't say much, and started practicing the first move of sweeping the stick, one move after another.
Zhang Ergou crossed his arms, occasionally correcting him verbally, and sometimes stepping forward to press his back and waist with his fingers, telling him where to loosen and where to tighten.
The firelight slanted in from afar, casting two shadows, one long and one short, onto the wasteland.
After A Shi finished practicing all six moves, Zhang Er Gou nodded and said, "Come see me again tomorrow. From now on, I'll teach you for half an hour every day after we set up camp."
Ah Shi gripped the wooden stick, pursed his lips, and whispered, "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Zhang Ergou waved his hand, then, remembering Sun Que's instructions before leaving, added, "Call me Uncle Zhang from now on."
He paused, his gaze falling on the boy's sweaty forehead, as if looking at him, yet also as if looking at his own past self.
"I come from an outer sect and don't have any great skills, but I can still teach you. As long as you are willing to learn, I won't hold back what I have to say."
Ashi nodded vigorously. He looked back at the distance and saw Xiaohe squatting by the fire waving at him. Xiaohe's father was leaning against the cart, and his complexion was much better than when they first set off.
Zhang Ergou glanced over there and chuckled, "Go back and eat first. Martial artists can't be on an empty stomach. Starting tomorrow, practice once before and once after each meal. Once we reach the teleportation gate, this wooden stick in your hand will be able to produce real results."
Ashi bowed to him, then turned and ran towards the firelight.
Zhang Ergou stood there, watching him run away, slowly fading the smile from his face, and muttered to himself, "He's a good prospect."
