-What the hell are you doing!!!
As befitted the great magic that had felled the Blasphemer in a single strike, the Lightning Spear of Subduing Demons and Annihilating Evil displayed terrifying power.
The ancient magic that had been nearing completion through countless sacrifices scattered with a spine-chilling scream. The mana that had been spreading that foul stench of blood, along with the souls contained within it, rapidly escaped from the fortress.
-You destroyed such a rare magic! Why the hell would you do that!!
The hamster shouted with such fury that it looked ready to bite Lee Han to pieces.
This magical criminal had committed countless evil deeds throughout its life, but compared to the wicked act that this brat of House Wardanaz had just committed, those were nothing.
It was not enough that he had prevented this great magic from being completed. He had actually destroyed it.
An ancient aspiration that perhaps no one else could ever have completed!
-Don't tell me you're going to spout the same nonsense as those Imperial fools about refusing to learn evil magic?! There is neither good nor evil in magic! There is only magic!
One of the concepts magical criminals hated most was that of "evil magic."
Poison could become medicine if used properly, and a good person could become evil, so what right did the Empire have to decide which magic was evil?
If Lee Han had destroyed it for a reason like that, the hamster thought it would genuinely despise him.
However, the reason Lee Han had opened with a great magic spell without even hesitating went one step beyond anything the hamster had imagined.
"That bastard keeps pissing me off."
-......
Sometimes a person became so furious or so dumbfounded that no words would come out at all.
That was exactly what was happening to the hamster right now.
It almost felt as though a reason like sealing the magic forever because it was evil would have been better.
-Y-you destroyed that magic... because it pissed you off?
The hamster stammered without realizing it.
Fine, the corrupted evil god's babbling could have pissed him off, but did that mean he had to destroy that power?!!
An excellent choice. I can feel pride in our contract.
Perkuntra, however, praised Lee Han highly.
Every time it had been summoned before, it had felt as though this contractor had tricked it somehow, but this time it was filled with satisfaction and pride.
To reject an evil god's offer so decisively.
It did not matter how reasonable or logical the offer was. It did not matter even if accepting it would bring one hundred percent profit.
What mattered was having the will to reject it.
Without that will, even if one escaped by luck once or twice, sooner or later one would inevitably fall into a trap or become bewitched.
-I agree. As a demon, I cannot help but respect the spirit required to reject such favor.
-You pathetic thought-forms who don't even know the first thing about magic...!
The hamster shouted, its eyes turning red.
To think it had to hear such things from ignorant dimensional beings who knew nothing of magic as a discipline and had simply been born with power.
-Isn't that mage bewitched?
Saratan asked cautiously.
Just as the heads of the vampire Houses had become bewitched by the magic, the hamster could certainly become bewitched by magic as well.
Since Saratan itself was a mage, it could not claim to be entirely immune either.
"!"
Lee Han was startled by those words.
No wonder the hamster had seemed far too angry!
"I see! That really could be it! I did think you were getting way too angry."
-I wasn't talking about the anger. I meant your obsession with the magic...
The anger itself was actually understandable.
Destroying magic immediately just because an evil god's babbling had annoyed you was hardly a normal reaction.
Unlike the Lightning Duke or the demon, Saratan frankly thought the magic had been a bit of a waste.
Regardless, Lee Han finished convincing himself and tossed the hamster into his bag. He intended to leave it in the basement until it came to its senses.
How dare you! How dare you!! HOW DARE YOU!!!!
The evil god's delayed fury began sweeping across the entire marshland.
The blood-red sky split apart, and the already weakened fortress collapsed as though caving in on itself.
The dead throughout the area screamed as they were sucked upward into the rift in the sky, while the evil-god worshiper priests who had been fighting near the fortress gate were annihilated outright by the sudden surprise attack.
Be careful!
Perkuntra protected its contractor with the most serious expression it had shown so far.
Fighting the master of a divine domain within that very domain was never an easy matter. Even a Spirit King had to prepare itself in earnest.
Moreover, the enemy seemed furious enough to devour even all of its own minions and turn them into power.
-Behind you!
!
At Mahuda's shout, Perkuntra turned its gaze in alarm.
Just as the demon had said, a powerful mana reaction could be felt behind Lee Han.
But it was not because of the evil god's surprise attack.
The exact location of the mana reaction was inside the backpack.
'What is it?!'
Lee Han was just as bewildered as the other two.
Had the hamster he had thrown into the basement somehow caused some kind of trouble?
Flash!
Before he could finish wondering, the culprit revealed itself. Lee Han's eyes widened when a white grimoire bearing a familiar pattern appeared.
The spirit book left behind by the Skull Principal's duplicate, containing a fragment of a soul.
The opened book infused information through letters of the soul rather than ordinary writing. Instinctively, Lee Han knew the name of the magic it was trying to pass on to him.
Microcosm, Dunamis!
There is no need to do anything reckless. My power alone is enough to escape from here!
Feeling the powerful resonance of magic, Perkuntra shouted in concern.
Its contractor had already summoned both a Spirit King and a powerful demon, so his body should have reached its limit.
No matter how much he endured with mana, his flesh was still that of a mortal.
Trying to cast some excessive magic merely to confront the evil god could end up becoming a self-defeating move.
But Lee Han had already completely internalized the new magic.
Unlike Perkuntra, Mahuda shared Lee Han's body, and it shuddered at the strange ancient microcosm magic before shouting.
-What... What kind of magic is this?! Mages created magic like this too?!
I don't know what kind of magic it is, but explain it so I can understand! You damned demon bastard. We need to get him out of here!
Even in the face of Perkuntra's abuse, Mahuda did not become angry and instead only grew more confused.
That was how difficult this magic was to explain.
-So this is... This is...
Just go back inside and rot forever, you useless idiot!
The Lightning Duke snapped angrily and prepared for battle.
Since that demon was completely useless, Perkuntra would have to do even more itself. As it seized lightning and drew slashing lines through the surroundings, menacing lightning bows appeared and began defending the area.
'It's coming!'
A horrifying strike flew through the rift in the blood-red sky.
It was a wave of power mixed with enormous resentment and curses.
Perkuntra let out a belligerent roar and drew heaven-defying lightning upward from the earth toward the sky.
KWAaaaaaaah-!
Urgh...!
After only a single clash, Perkuntra already felt the disadvantage.
The enemy could mobilize everything it had accumulated within its domain, while Perkuntra had to endure in hostile territory relying solely on its contractor's mana.
Considering the condition of this contractor's body as well, the longer this battle continued...
Whoosh!
Something suddenly flew in from behind.
It was a tiny droplet of water.
Compared to a battle on a scale that overturned heaven and earth, it looked so out of place that the sight was almost awkward.
Even Perkuntra was momentarily bewildered.
It knew Lee Han frequently used water-element magic, but this was hardly a situation where firing a Water Jade Bullet at the enemy would work.
If he had any strength to spare, he should focus on defense and evasion before escaping as quickly as possible.
'Wait. Was it always like that?'
Perkuntra belatedly noticed something strange.
Its contractor's spell was normally at least the size of a fist.
Why had it become so small?
!
The farther the water droplet climbed through the air, the more its true nature began to reveal itself.
Before the wave of resentment and curses pouring through the rift in the blood-red sky, the droplet looked no more substantial than a single leaf, yet that leaf paid no heed to the raging current flowing against it and leisurely slipped between the waves, gliding onward.
Only then did Perkuntra remember the identity of that magic.
That was not the Water Jade Bullet its contractor used.
It was the Skull Principal's magic, Hwidore!
'How did he do that?!'
Even its power was exactly the same.
Having once been struck down and subdued by the Skull Principal, the Lightning Duke could recognize the spell's power all too clearly.
The water droplet pierced upward through the enemy's wave and left a wound upon the evil god.
---------!
The wound itself was not particularly large, but experiencing pain for the first time in its existence made the evil god howl in agony.
Did that bastard come too?!
Perkuntra turned around in shock.
Unless the Skull Principal had come in person, there was no explanation for what had just happened.
But the Skull Principal was nowhere to be seen.
There was only Lee Han, staggering as he held onto his staff.
Lee Han felt his vision turn red. The strong metallic taste filling his nose and mouth made it obvious that the microcosm had overloaded him.
"This microcosm... lets me pull magic from the future and use it ahead of time..."
-Don't talk! You idiot!
Saratan desperately tried to shoulder some of the mage's burden.
The microcosm had just displayed an Authority astonishing enough that even a demon found it incomprehensible.
It allowed a mage to cast magic they would only become capable of using in the future.
But the recoil was by no means trivial. The more powerful the magic drawn from the future, the more the burden on the mage increased exponentially.
Then don't focus on attacking! Bring out some spatial magic that can get us out of here! I told you not to do anything reckless!
"I'll... I'll try."
Perkuntra stared anxiously at the sky.
Strangely, the evil god did not appear again.
Perhaps it simply was not accustomed to pain, but whatever the reason, that was fortunate for them.
They had to escape now!
***
At last, the bastard has exposed an opening.
The Death Knights were startled by the Yaksha King's sudden statement.
The Yaksha King had been given full authority over this subjugation force, yet since arriving in the domain, it had done very little.
It merely gave orders to its successor and then stood there motionless, to the point that even the Death Knights who knew the Yaksha King's identity had muttered behind its back, 'Is that really the one?'
And now it suddenly said the enemy had exposed an opening?
-What do you mean, it exposed an opening?
Once the disciple of Osu obtained new magic, the bastard was bound to fly into a rage and expose an opening.
-???
The Death Knights became even more confused.
As was often the case with the wise, their words were difficult for those who were not wise to understand.
The Yaksha King was particularly extreme in that regard. Even after hearing an explanation, it could still be impossible to understand what the hell it meant.
What did it mean that the evil god would become enraged and expose an opening once the successor obtained new magic?
Now! We may begin.
At that moment, the entire domain shook.
The cries of great horns and conch horns shook the dimension, and yakshas charged savagely in from every direction.
The army the king had brought had been lying in ambush without even the knights knowing!
-What is this... Wait, who's commanding them?
Even while flustered, one of the Death Knights asked a sharp question.
Since the Yaksha King was here deceiving both enemy and ally alike, there had to be a separate commander leading the forces in ambush.
It could not have been an ordinary figure. The Death Knight worried that perhaps the Skull Principal himself had come.
'Could Master have secretly come out here? If so, the burden on him would be enormous...'
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!"
Iron Cloak Ibinta screamed and threw himself flat on the ground. The knights looked at him in confusion at the sudden fit.
-What's wrong with you? Is this your first time seeing a yaksha army, you country bumpkin?
"Back there! Back there! A monster!"
-What... No, Lord Hierdan!
Only when the Death Knights saw the eldest son of House Wardanaz appearing in the distance while leading the yakshas did they finally understand everything.
The Skull Principal had summoned both of them from the very beginning.
It was an extraordinarily powerful combination, one that made his determination to suppress this incident swiftly perfectly clear.
Hierdan descended from the chariot racing through the air and gave the Yaksha King a slight nod.
"A truly excellent stratagem, making the evil god lower its guard."
I shall gladly accept the praise, eldest son of Wardanaz. Your ambush was excellent as well.
'What a combination I never want anything to do with.'
The knights shuddered.
They would rather go to the punishment room than stand between those two.
"What stratagem did you use to make the evil god lower its guard?"
Hierdan asked in order to understand the situation.
They would now have to attack the enemy directly, and knowing what kind of bait the enemy had fallen for was fairly important information.
The disciple of Osu willingly served as the worm within the lion.
"If you mean Lord Gonadaltes's disciple, are you referring to Professor Garcia?"
No.
"Then are you referring to Professor Bagreg?"
The Death Knights swallowed nonexistent saliva and slowly backed away.
They instinctively felt afraid.
Surely this conversation wasn't...
No. I mean your younger brother.
"Ah."
