Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Though there are undercurrents on Ruth’s side, the four who could potentially have a direct confrontation each have their own reasons for restraint, so for now, things remain calm.

First, Oliva... his actions are not excessive, the meaning of the test is strong, but he doesn’t act harshly.

Although he is not very willing to see the presence of Koyl and Rojas, Oliva understands that relying on himself to restrain the unpredictable Aislin is unlikely.

Even though he temporarily pulled Aislin a bit using some of the well-preserved yet potentially centuries-old strange object aroma from Gilbert, it only gave Aislin a glimmer of hope, not that she could resist the true owner of the soul.

Furthermore, this allowed Oliva to understand a few things: Although Aislin’s memories were mostly intact, they were still fragmented, with mundane details overlooked.

Especially, memories from before Aislin became a mage, which she herself has already forgotten in the depths of her mental sea.

Who knows how many efforts she made later, how cautiously she probed, before daring to reveal a trace.

However, this also proves one thing, that Aislin, in the small part of the soul she occupies, can block out the other’s observations.

Therefore, Aislin wouldn’t be discovered while she was making these small moves.

But knowing all this, Oliva, especially knowing how strong the true soul of ’Aislin’ is, he’s actually a bit unclear how to respond.

If he still uses the past method, it definitely won’t work.

Oliva knows, the tasks Ruth assigned him aren’t all suitable for Aislin to know... yet he finds it difficult to use some methods to expose a few parts while disguising others before Aislin.

He couldn’t believe himself to never say a wrong word.

So, Oliva actually has some expectations for Koyl and Rojas.

She naturally believes the white robe is her slave, and her tone in giving orders to Rosero of the Ninth Ring is less polite than when speaking to Koyl.

It goes without saying about Koyl, after all, all the spirit and vigor of those two are reflected on him.

And then, he still has to mess with those few oblivious colleagues in the Seventh Rings within the limits allowed by Ruth, even when he’s seeing stars and burning with rage.

After so long, Koyl has finally understood why he could stand out among so many Seventh Circle Mages wanting to seize power... after all, there are those whose age is several times his and whose strength could put two of him in place.

Indeed, success and failure are both linked to Gilbert.

Success because his intersection with Gilbert caught Ruth’s attention.

Failure because, in Ruth’s mind, his cherished Gilbert is a person with strong principles, so his recognition of Koyl means Koyl would naturally not be someone as unforgivable as his beloved Aislin.

So, what Aislin wants to do, Koyl is forced to do.

He is not really that vicious, but knowing that the route has been pre-designed for him does make Koyl a bit displeased.

However, Koyl has always been a very realistic person, always focusing more on what he gains.

He never gets benefits and complains at the same time.

Therefore, despite his days being busy and painful, they are bearable... when it’s truly unbearable, he goes to vent to his destined benefactor and villain Gilbert.

Although Gilbert’s words are cutting and venomous, he won’t throw him out.

Rojas, however, lived in a bit of bewilderment and disarray.

Having survived the initial period being troubled in turns by Oliva and Aislin... even that Aislin personally visited her Magic Tower, scrutinizing them with a strange and eerie gaze, her days seemingly suddenly became smoother.

Although when distributing mage resources, some high-level mages who look down on her still make sarcastic comments, nitpicking, but after she shows a tough attitude, things are manageable.

However, in this world, an admirable love story is the kind where Aislin’s type actually counts... at least there’s some tangled desire touched by ’love.’

So, even though it involves many stories of men and women, those are due to various exchanges of interests, using bodies or the resultant children as stamp marks for the contract; despite desires overflowing, it doesn’t leave too much room for thought.
