Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 2064 - 640: Has Another Familiar Face Arrived?Although Hilbert had mentally prepared himself, he was still quite surprised by Aislin’s inaction... He even had time to teach Russell and Carpenter an entire set of arrays exclusive to the Magic Tower before the lady in red leisurely walked into her own hall.
By this time, Rommel had already gone back to his own room to reminisce about life.
If it weren’t for the excitement expected in a couple of days, Hilbert felt the grand curtain he raised was truly a bit of a waste.
Hill glanced at Delphus and Aislin, who had started to exchange greetings... then listened with unusual calmness as Aislin unabashedly asked a question like "Are you ugly again?", something she should never have said.
Delphus’s already somewhat twisted face visibly began to crawl with veiny lines upon hearing this statement.
Though he didn’t know exactly what he had consumed, he certainly understood that growing stronger meant becoming uglier.
Moreover, whenever he was severely injured, to recover quickly, his face had to be sacrificed.
Given the kind of arrogant aggressiveness Delphus displayed, the number of injuries he’d suffered was undoubtedly not few.
Yet, this same Delphus exhibited a distinct preference for beauties.
The earlier Pet, and later that Ninth Ring Sorceress, both possessed significant strength and were striking in appearance.
In truth, everyone understood: though aware that these talented female mages would inevitably distance themselves from him once they reached a certain level of power, and might even hate him for his actions, Delphus still insisted on holding such beauties close, unlike other Archmages who preferred beauties from lower standings. This must have something to do with the fact that he was getting uglier over time.
Thus, even figures like Rosero in the Sia Tower wouldn’t casually bring up this matter with Delphus.
If it were Aislin herself, she wouldn’t do so either... While Aislin is proud, she doesn’t actually seek trouble from higher levels.
She knows too well that provoking a Ninth Ring Archmage would only cause trouble for Ruth.
Thus, Aislin wouldn’t lightly provoke those stronger than herself, or even those strong in certain aspects... This might make her appear somewhat as bullying the weak and fearing the strong.
But this was also one of the reasons she could live freely, despite being targeted by thousands.
As for Glaysia, even if she were to unexpectedly awaken from her slumber, she wouldn’t pay any attention to Delphus’s face.
To the Princess of Hell, Delphus was merely a storage box containing the ’Order Jewel’, whether tattered or falling apart, as long as the box remained, there was no need to take another look.
Thus, Hill sighed a bit regretfully... Within Aislin’s soul, surely the will of that Goddess of the Silvermoon was prevailing.
No wonder she hadn’t come out all this time.
The battle between the red dragon and the battle angel on the day the Envoy of the Styx appeared likely had an impact on Aislin.
Asmodeus truly never does anything meaningless, and probably understands the consequences of Glaysia’s actions better than the Princess of Hell herself.
Yet, Hill still couldn’t comprehend what use Aislin, who might transform into the Goddess of the Silvermoon, could possibly have?
Lansendel indeed shows a bit of tolerance towards Celene, but a small-world Silvermoon Goddess, or rather a Silvermoon Goddess with a part of the Hell Princess’s soul, he would simply choose purification.
If one try isn’t enough, then an ultimate purification would follow... annihilating body and soul together.
So... Hill looked up at the sky, wondering if the perpetually quiet, never-responding sun had anything peculiar or amiss?
Otherwise, Hill couldn’t fathom what negative impact slaying a polluted Silvermoon Goddess would have on Lansendel.
Even if Celene followed Lansendel around, she would merely strive to see if she could help this Silvermoon Goddess break free.
If she couldn’t, she wouldn’t oppose Lansendel’s harsh measures.
No matter how benevolent and kindhearted Celene appeared, she and Shaer had been fighting together for hundreds of thousands of years as goddesses... in battles that were unending.
Rooting out evil was inherently her instinct... However, her judgment of evil and that of a normal person differed.
But both she and Shaer were actually very sensitive to their domains, and if someone dared to infringe, they would be ruthless.
Those were habits formed over those hundreds of thousands of years.
So, could there be a hidden move left by Asmodeus above the sun?
Hill certainly wouldn’t think that Sun God could still be alive.
If the remains of the Goddess of the Silvermoon were still of some use, the parts of the Sun God, no matter what they were, were not something devils could utilize.
Even Toril’s deviant Sun God would mean a dead end for any devil encountering him.
No Sun God ever had a good temper... except perhaps for the one whose heart’s homeland was afar, Toril’s Sun God, all other naturally-cultivated Sun Gods would typically go all out to protect their world.
Take for instance the one from Teraxil.
The reason he was the first to recover was because he was the first to sacrifice his divine body.
But also because of this, he received help from the relatively intact Earth Goddess and Silvermoon Goddess... The Earth Goddess was the most unfortunate because she held on till the end and could only rely on herself to slowly recuperate.
The ill-fated Gerns of yesteryear, who also perished most heroically, was none other than the Sun God!
Thus, Asmodeus would definitely have ground that Sun God to dust and scattered him into the cosmos.
Yet Hill also didn’t think the Lord of Hell could pull off anything too remarkable on the sun.
Though Asmodeus wasn’t afraid of high temperatures and fire, and had relative resistance to positive energy, he was, after all, the Lord of Hell.
The sun wouldn’t go berserk just because there was some evil presence on itself; those that couldn’t be burnt just left to their own.
But, something laden with the aura of hell was entirely different.
The power of the sun would undoubtedly erupt wildly due to the presence of the Lord of Hell.
And with his immense paranoia, Asmodeus couldn’t possibly command anyone else to guard above the sun.
Given his total trust only in himself, even his trusted fallen angels were off the table, and those hell devils with weaknesses he could seize were equally out of the question, never mind others whom he absolutely wouldn’t trust.
However, if Asmodeus didn’t want this world to go down into failure alongside the sun, he would definitely not personally venture there.
So, at most, when realizing Lansendel might get involved, he shared this world’s sun with some others... huh, could it mean the Lord of Fire Elements, Kashus?
Hill instantly thought of the most likely ally to lend Asmodeus a hand.
Kashus was the only one among the four Elemental Lords closely tied to Toril.
He had a well-known ally named Amanata.
In the past, as an absolutely neutral Fire Element Lord, he might have ignored Asmodeus’s enticing words, but now, he had an ally in dire need of various powers to strengthen himself, who’s also highly wary of that Lord of Dawn indeed stretching his hand into the sun.
Amant Tower could never tolerate Lansendel acting as a savior in any world devoid of a Sun God.
All divine arts used by the Lord of Dawn would lead mortals to associate him with the sun.
Even if Lansendel had no such intention, the prayers alone would entitle him to the sun’s divine authority.
In the past, Amant Tower could watch the unfolding events with a smile.
But now, he wasn’t even comparable to the then-fleeing Suren!
Amanata probably didn’t believe he had Celene’s fortune... an instant recovery of powerful divine strength with just a casual stab by one’s sister... so he was undoubtedly exceptionally cautious.
Regarding whether he and Kashus would connect, Hill absolutely didn’t have any doubts.
Above Amanata’s sun, there was a dimensional passage leading directly to Kashus’s Divine Kingdom.
Various creatures of the Realm of Fire Elements could freely live upon Toril’s sun.
Their alliance was, in fact, quite firm.
