Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 20 Giant Beasts, Teasing FoodAfter unpacking the large parcel, Lin Yun found quite a few useful things inside.
There were tissues, candy, laundry detergent, shower gel, shampoo, and all sorts of other household necessities.
Most importantly, there was something every woman needed most: sanitary pads.
Although they weren’t her usual brand, Lin Yun was relieved to have something she could use in this situation.
She sorted the household supplies into a wicker basket, then placed the snacks that hadn’t expired or spoiled into another.
There were also several face masks and some cosmetics. Lin Yun didn’t wear makeup anymore, but she decided to keep them anyway. They might come in handy someday.
The expired items could be recycled through the system.
"How many points?"
[The items you just sorted are worth 2 points.]
"Can you give me a little more?"
[They’re expired. Two points is already the maximum.]
"All right."
Lin Yun sighed again.
Well, at least someone else would take care of the trash. She didn’t have to carry it out herself.
She brought a broom up from the basement and swept the floor before thinking about what else she needed to finish today.
Oh, right.
She needed to wash two or three changes of clothes. She couldn’t keep living without spare clothes; it was really inconvenient.
Since she’d already found laundry detergent, Lin Yun simply squatted down in the bathroom and washed everything that needed washing.
Even Ghost Vine didn’t escape.
Lin Yun grabbed it and washed it thoroughly with shower gel.
After climbing out of the bathroom, Ghost Vine felt fragrant from head to toe and was extremely pleased with itself. It immediately climbed onto the Star Tea Tree to show off.
The Star Tea Tree: What a nuisance.
The vines outside had already been modified by Ghost Vine and could now be used as makeshift clotheslines.
Lin Yun also arranged all the toiletries she needed in the bathroom.
She stood there for a while, feeling as though something was missing, but no matter how hard she thought about it, she couldn’t remember what.
In the end, she decided to leave it for now.
Lin Yun filled a cup with water from the faucet, then plucked two leaves from the Star Tea Tree and rubbed them between her fingers before dropping them into the cup.
She planned to drink the tea the next morning.
After confirming that she hadn’t forgotten anything else, Lin Yun lay down and went to sleep.
Ghost Vine played by itself for a while, but soon grew bored.
Seeing that Lin Yun was already asleep, it couldn’t suppress its urge to sneak outside and play.
After quietly leaving the shelter, Ghost Vine headed straight toward the home of the new friend it had made the night before.
It was going to show off to that bald dandelion!
Its owner had given it a wonderful bath!
It was completely different from those dirty wild plants!
Bald Dandelion: [Get lost!]
[No, no! Heehee.]
Ghost Vine happily bounced around the bald dandelion.
The dandelion really was bald. All of its seeds had long since been blown away. Even Ghost Vine had almost failed to recognize it as a dandelion yesterday, so the nickname was actually quite fitting.
[Oh, bald head, where else are you going to find a plant as intelligent as me?]
The Bald Dandelion was the first friend Ghost Vine had made besides Lin Yun, so it didn’t attack the annoying little vine.
"What are you planning to do?" the dandelion asked warily.
Although they’d only known each other for two nights, it had already figured out that this little bastard was definitely up to no good.
Ghost Vine immediately became excited.
[[Let my owner go hunting again!]]
[Don’t humans eat meat? Since when did they start eating grass?]
The dandelion couldn’t be blamed for its ignorance.
It lived in the forest and had never come into contact with humans. Everything it knew came from what it had heard from other plants and animals.
Besides, the dandelion didn’t know that it couldn’t move around freely like Ghost Vine.
Every time it saw Ghost Vine running around with its vines, it couldn’t help but feel envious.
Unfortunately, it could only stay where it was.
Since the dandelion didn’t answer, Ghost Vine had no choice but to return to the shelter.
It spread itself out like a vine pancake and waited patiently for dawn.
In the Town
The giant beast that had appeared the previous night had returned.
It had discovered the town the night before and tracked the survivors back to their shelter. However, after thoroughly searching the place, it hadn’t found anyone and had been forced to leave.
But the beast hadn’t gone far.
It was certain that humans were nearby.
It knew humans were extremely vigilant and that their hiding places were usually well concealed, so it retreated farther away and hid.
When it came to hunting, it had plenty of patience.
Fortunately, not long after dawn, there was finally movement from the place where it had detected the human scent.
Just as Chen Feng was about to fall asleep the previous night, he had heard noises outside his door.
He had spent points during the day to install an external surveillance and soundproofing function, so he immediately woke up when he heard the disturbance.
He cautiously approached the peephole and peered outside.
A huge black shadow appeared in the darkness.
Chen Feng immediately knew it was a mutated animal—and one with a considerable level of intelligence.
He could tell that the dark figure was searching for something nearby.
Since he was the only survivor in the vicinity, wasn’t it obvious what it was looking for?
The discovery terrified Chen Feng so much that he didn’t dare sleep anymore.
He sat beside the door and kept a close eye on the movement outside.
After the noise finally died down, Chen Feng waited for quite some time, making absolutely certain that the dark figure had left before he finally relaxed.
It’s gone.
It’s really gone.
He comforted himself with those thoughts.
He didn’t have any decent weapons, and the dark figure looked incredibly powerful. There was no way he could defeat it.
But the exhaustion soon caught up with him.
After yawning twice, he could no longer keep his eyes open and eventually fell asleep on the bed.
Fortunately, Chen Feng had always maintained a regular schedule. He woke up at the usual time the next morning.
After washing up, he once again peered through the peephole to observe the situation outside.
He was afraid that the creature might have returned and be waiting to ambush him, so he watched for a long time before finally daring to open the door.
It’s gone.
Thank goodness it’s gone.
Chen Feng comforted himself once again.
He had no decent weapons, and the dark figure looked extremely powerful. There was no way he could fight it.
He cautiously climbed the stairs, carefully observing his surroundings as he went.
He was still somewhat afraid that the giant beast might return, but he had no choice.
He needed to go outside to search for supplies.
In reality, everything was unfolding exactly as the beast had planned.
The moment Chen Feng opened the door, the giant beast noticed him.
It quietly crept closer, hiding in the shadows as it watched the cautious human.
A mocking smile curled across its face.
These humans are so adorable.
What’s the point of being so careful? They’ll all end up in my stomach eventually.
The giant beast deliberately made a noise.
Chen Feng was startled and immediately drew his weapon.
However, after looking around, he couldn’t find anything.
He had no choice but to tighten his grip on his weapon and leave the building nervously.
The giant beast had played with humans like this several times before.
It loved teasing its prey.
The feeling gave it an incredible sense of accomplishment.
After toying with Chen Feng for a while, the giant beast finally decided it had had enough fun.
It took pity on him.
Then it descended from the sky and bit him to death, turning him into its meal for the day.
The giant beast licked its lips, savoring the delicious taste of its freshly caught prey.
It knew there were still many humans hiding throughout the town.
So, from now on, it would eat one human every day.
And wouldn’t it be even more enjoyable if it could toy with them a little before eating them?
The giant beast happily swished its tail before returning to the mountains by another route.
It would wait for nightfall.
Here it comes again.
