Chapter 132: Chapter 116: Fine (2)
Fourteen kilometers.
The distance from the Sword Hall to the organization’s building was fourteen kilometers.
Li Yu was tearing down the road, having pushed his speed past 120 kilometers per hour. This was the fastest he could possibly drive within the city limits.
Moreover, since it was high noon, there were relatively few pedestrians and vehicles on the road. This allowed him to reach such an absurd speed, but it would still take him about five minutes to get to the organization’s building.
For Su Xing, however, it only took...
Less than a minute.
To be precise, thirty seconds. That was his top speed.
Su Xing felt his vision blur for a moment as the scenery and vehicles around him receded at an unbelievable speed. He came to an abrupt halt. Not far off was the organization’s building—a place he’d once wanted to visit but never managed to.
Su Xing took a deep breath. The "Qi Sword Stance" instantly enveloped his body, causing him to vanish from sight.
He glanced at the organization’s building before him.
Countless glass windows had been shattered. Rubble periodically fell from above, and the sounds of battle and scattered sequence energy filled the air. It certainly looked like it was under attack.
Su Xing stepped into the building.
With his incredibly sharp perception, the countless sources of sequence energy were as distinct as fireflies in the night. He grasped the situation inside the building in an instant.
There were seven Tier Four Sequencers in total.
The special organization had four, and the Spiritual Sect only three. It looked like the special organization held the absolute upper hand and shouldn’t need any backup at all.
But... that wasn’t actually the case.
Because the Spiritual Sect had actually dispatched a Tier Five Sequencer.
Tier Five. The watershed that separates the Extraordinary.
A single one possessed the immense power to destroy an entire city. They wielded unparalleled destructive force. The gap between them and a Tier Four was simply not something numbers could overcome.
However, what surprised Su Xing,
was that for such a dangerous, one-might-even-say-suicidal mission, the Spiritual Sect was actually willing to sacrifice a Tier Five Sequencer to carry it out.
Although Su Xing wasn’t familiar with the Spiritual Sect,
he knew one thing for certain: the number of Spiritual Sect Vice Bishops could never exceed the number of High Priests. At most, there were four, and now with Wrath dead, there were even fewer.
’What on earth is the Spiritual Sect trying to accomplish?’
Su Xing’s gaze pierced through the walls, fixed on the Tier Five’s location as he pondered the situation.
He wasn’t in a hurry to make a move.
The Spiritual Sect might have sent a Tier Five, but they hadn’t yet made a move. As long as the Tier Five stayed hidden, there was no way for the special organization to lose.
’Something’s not right...’
’There’s something wrong with this person’s aura.’
Su Xing silently observed the Tier Five Sequencer from the Spiritual Sect. Then, his brow furrowed, and he murmured in a heavy tone,
"He’s... exuding a familiar scent."
"Just like the Catastrophe High Priest..."
The Catastrophe High Priest.
’Did he take a "blessing," just like Catastrophe did?’
’It’s just that Catastrophe went from having one sequence to possessing four, while this guy broke through directly from Tier Four to Tier Five.’
’So... he isn’t one of the other Spiritual Sect Vice Bishops,’ Su Xing realized.
But to Su Xing, it made no difference.
Because,
now that he’d discovered traces of the "blessing,"
in Su Xing’s eyes, the man had transformed from a Tier Five Sequencer into walking Sword Dao Points.
"In that case... I’ll be taking your life."
...
Meanwhile, a fierce battle raged inside the organization’s building. The Tier Four Sequencers were busy protecting the weaker staff members—or the ordinary, powerless office workers—from the unfolding disaster.
Downstairs, Li Yu arrived.
The moment he stepped out of his car, he immediately dispatched men to rescue the civilians and then sealed off every possible escape route from the building.
He stood at one of the sealed exits, his expression calm. Behind him, a pitch-black entity waved its tentacles, occasionally striking out at the building’s interior.
This was his Sequence, [Shadow].
Beside him stood Elder Lu, as well as Bailan, who had just arrived.
Seeing Bailan, Li Yu turned to her and asked,
"What are the casualties?"
Bailan nodded. A blue light flashed in her eyes as countless data screens materialized within them.
After a moment, she spoke slowly,
"Twelve injured, most of them civilians. Zero fatalities. The organization’s building in Southern Cang City is our temporary headquarters, after all. We have quite a few Tier Four Sequencers, so the battlefield hasn’t expanded any further."
"Good."
Li Yu nodded, a cold glint in his eyes. "Since the Spiritual Sect dared to come," he said softly, "then none of them are leaving."
The tentacles behind him shot out. A sudden, blood-curdling scream erupted from inside the building. Clearly, a Tier Four Sequencer who had tried to escape had been killed instantly.
"How much longer for my arrangements?"
Li Yu asked abruptly.
At his words, Bailan stopped observing the interior of the building. She patted down her skirt and stated with meticulous precision,
"Three minutes."
"In three minutes, our encirclement will be complete. No one left in the building will be able to escape."
"Three minutes, huh..."
Li Yu’s eyes narrowed. He turned his head and said gravely to Elder Lu,
"Elder Lu, I’m leaving the Tier Five to you."
"Don’t worry."
Elder Lu stretched lazily and took a couple of steps before speaking. "I couldn’t help you last time, but I’ll definitely be of use now. This really is a big one, though."
A Tier Five...
It was indeed a big fish.
Li Yu had been furious when he first learned the organization’s building was under attack.
But he was the one in charge, after all.
After his initial rage subsided, he had immediately grasped the full situation and made the perfect decision.
First, rescue the non-combatants. Then, block all possible exits. Finally, close the net and reel in the fish.
Thinking of this, Li Yu narrowed his eyes and asked Bailan,
"Are our Sequencers inside okay?"
"They’re fine. The fighting is still intense, but they understand our plan now. They’ll prioritize their own safety and won’t engage the enemy head-on."
Bailan said, her gaze turning toward the core area of the building.
"Excellent."
A smile appeared on Li Yu’s face.
’A Tier Five Sequencer... in the Spiritual Sect, that’s a Vice Bishop. If we can take this opportunity to kill them...’
Just then,
a tremendous BOOM shattered his train of thought.
The building swayed, and the very ground trembled!
Li Yu felt his legs go weak. He staggered on the spot, nearly falling over.
Bailan fell right to the ground,
getting a small scrape on her knee.
Li Yu stared in stunned silence at the source of the deafening noise. "What level of battle is this?" he said, bewildered.
"What in the world is happening over there?!"
Sprawled on the ground, Bailan had no time to check the scrape on her knee. She immediately looked toward the source of the tremor and activated her Sequence.
Pale blue panels began to flash frantically from her eyes at an unprecedented speed.
Then, as if her eyes were suddenly on fire, a wisp of white smoke rose from them. Bailan cried out in pain and clutched her face.
Seeing this, there was no need for Bailan to say what happened.
Li Yu understood perfectly.
Bailan’s Sequence was unable to see what was happening. This was the first time that had ever occurred, and Li Yu’s expression soured.
Elder Lu, who was standing nearby, remarked nonchalantly,
"Ah, it seems the real show is starting."
...
「Half a minute earlier.」
While Li Yu was still making his plans, the Tier Five had already snuck into a hidden corner of the building.
Clearly, the attacks from the other Tier Four Sequencers were just a feint, meant to draw attention and firepower.
The Tier Five’s actions were the real core of the Spiritual Sect’s plan.
Currently, the Tier Five was drawing something on the ground. It looked like some sort of map, but it was completely incomprehensible.
His pupils were an uncanny shade of purple, as if they held the strange power that allowed him to reach the realm of Tier Five.
After spending a good while smearing and drawing on the ground, he finally finished. He casually tossed aside the branch he’d been using as a brush and turned toward the stairwell, preparing to leave.
However, the very instant he turned, a deafening CRACK echoed through the air.
He felt as if he’d been hit by a freight train. He was sent flying, smashing into a wall before he finally came to a stop.
An ice-cold voice, like a death knell from Hell itself, rang out in the secluded corner.
"You know, there’s a fine for littering."
