Chapter 144: Chapter 121: Prisoner 2
A massive current of electricity and multicolored sequence energy surged along the Black Sword toward Su Xing. For a moment, these energies coursed over the surface of his body, making him look like a terrifying, lightning-wreathed monster.
However,
it had no effect on his body whatsoever.
The lightning and sequence energy were completely unable to penetrate the crimson energy protecting him. After just a moment, it all vanished without a trace, and the surface of his body returned to its calm, normal state.
Su Xing’s gaze passed through the large hole in the iron gate, settling on the white factory building ahead.
’Fluttering Snow!’
He stepped through the iron gate, and his form instantly blurred.
Su Xing shot into the white building at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye. The countless Spiritualist Followers hiding inside had no time to react before a massive shockwave slammed them against the walls!
Many of the Spiritualist Followers were killed on impact. The survivors were all grievously wounded.
Some had gaping holes torn through them, intestines and all hanging out. Others were covered in blood, their bodies smashed into a pulpy mess.
It was an incredibly gruesome sight.
But Su Xing didn’t spare them a single glance.
He knew that Tier One and Tier Two Sequencers like them would almost all die instantly from such an impact.
The few who were lucky enough to survive wouldn’t last more than a few minutes before bleeding out. They weren’t worth his attention.
His gaze fell upon a pale purple door leading to a tunnel. He thought to himself,
’This must be the way to the research institute.’
At the tunnel’s entrance stood a pale purple door, formed entirely from condensed sequence energy. The door had no lock and no handle; it was utterly featureless, yet sealed tight.
This made Su Xing realize the door must have a unique opening mechanism, one likely known only to members of the Spiritual Sect.
Su Xing didn’t know their unique method, but... he had his own.
He tightened his grip on the Black Sword.
Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he brought it down on the tunnel door before him!
In the next instant,
the Black Sword, filled with Su Xing’s savage power, slammed down heavily. The tremendous impact instantly blasted clean through the entire tunnel entrance!
Amidst a deafening roar,
the white factory building suddenly collapsed, and countless Spiritualist Followers, already on the brink of death, were crushed alive by falling rubble.
The pale purple door to the tunnel shattered instantly. Without hesitation, Su Xing leaped down, landing smoothly and getting his first look at what lay below.
Below the tunnel entrance was a very long passage that stretched straight into the darkness ahead. Su Xing narrowed his eyes, finding it difficult to see clearly.
Just then,
a large group of heavily-armed Spiritualist Followers rushed forward, trapping Su Xing. Their leader, a man, roared,
"Who are you?!"
"Why have you forced your way in here?!"
Su Xing glanced at him.
The man felt the hairs on his neck stand up, as if that single glance had seen right through him, down to his very bones. He gritted his teeth and roared again,
"Leave now, and we might spare your life! Otherwise, when our superiors get here, you’re dead for sure!!!"
"Then let them come."
Su Xing said coolly,
his gaze sweeping over them one by one. Every person his eyes fell upon felt the same chill, the hairs on their bodies standing on end.
’Most of them are Tier Three, so their strength is nothing special. But they’re loaded with all sorts of tools and weapons. Some of these I’ve seen the Space High Priest use, but some are new to me. A little interesting.’
"You audacious bastard, how dare you...!"
The leader, trying to mask his fear, was mustering the courage to say more when Su Xing struck first.
He stomped his right foot, and power exploded from beneath it!
BOOM!
The underground passage, already damaged by his earlier attack, suffered another heavy blow. With a tremendous roar, the entire floor sank, and shrapnel from the shattered ground shot into the air.
Su Xing’s powerful form shot forward, becoming an uncatchable black afterimage.
In the blink of an eye, Su Xing crossed the distance between them, carving a straight line through the tunnel. He slammed into the crowd of men still preparing their threats, bringing a terrifying shockwave with him.
It was like a wolf among sheep. The instant Su Xing crashed into them, countless heads of the Spiritualist Followers were sent flying!
The gap in their strength was too vast.
Not a single one of them could withstand him for even a moment!
Any Spiritualist Follower Su Xing got near was either left with a sword-sized hole through their heart or, at worst, utterly obliterated into a shower of blood and gore.
Forget everything else—the sheer force of his initial charge sent more than half of them flying like cannonballs, knocking them unconscious as they slammed into the walls!
VMM!
Su Xing held the sword in his right hand.
He swept the Black Sword out in a horizontal arc before him!
CRACK!
A chorus of cracking sounds echoed as heads detached from their bodies. The Spiritualist Followers didn’t even have a chance to use their equipment; in Su Xing’s hands, they were lambs to the slaughter.
In a matter of moments,
this entire squad of Spiritualist Followers had been completely wiped out!
"Hah."
Su Xing let out a breath. He had walked for less than half a minute before another squad of Spiritualist Followers blocked his path in the tunnel.
This was starting to annoy Su Xing.
He had come here to kill, it was true, but even stepping on ants gets tiresome after a while. He hadn’t expected the Spiritual Sect to have so many followers.
In contrast to Su Xing’s irritation,
this new squad looked exceptionally grim.
Their leader saw Su Xing and, without a single word, charged straight at him. Black sequence energy flickered in his hands as he roared,
"Kill him!!!"
"Kill me?"
Facing the Spiritualist Follower who didn’t know what he was getting into, Su Xing sneered internally,
’You’re the one who’s going to die!’
Su Xing didn’t even bother to dodge, letting the man’s blast of black sequence energy slam into him. The attack failed to even cause a ripple in the energy protecting his body.
At the same time, Su Xing’s left hand shot out, fingers spread, and he grabbed the man’s head!
POP!
Under Su Xing’s absurd strength, the man’s head was more fragile than an eggshell. The moment he grabbed it, it exploded, spattering blood and gore all over him.
Su Xing grabbed the headless corpse, lifted it high as if it were a dumbbell, and hurled it straight at the crowd!
WHOOSH—
The headless corpse carved a long arc through the air, tearing through the atmosphere with a pale white shockwave and a tremendous whistling sound before descending upon the remaining Spiritualist Followers.
The Spiritualist Followers,
watched this happen, looks of utter despair dawning in their eyes.
They had no time to react
before their leader’s corpse crashed down and crushed them to death!
BOOM!
A fountain of blood and flesh erupted on impact, and the headless corpse itself was pulverized into a mangled heap.
"Th-th-th-this..."
"Are they just sending us here to die?!"
More than one person had the same thought. They looked at the few colleagues left standing around them, their legs gave out, and they collapsed to the ground.
Trembling,
they waited as Su Xing walked toward them, step by step.
THUD, THUD, THUD,
Each footstep sounded like a death knell from Hell itself.
...
While Su Xing was carrying out his one-sided slaughter, far from the battlefield, a scene unfolded inside a cage—or rather, "living quarters for research materials."
CLANK—
The metal door swung open.
Six pairs of listless eyes stared out from within, followed by the slow, scraping sound of iron chains dragging across the floor.
Inside the cage stood six people, men and women of varied dispositions. Both their auras and their builds were extraordinary. The only things they had in common were their identical prison uniforms and the cold expressions on their faces. One of them suddenly spoke,
"It’s been a long time... since I’ve smelled blood."
