Chapter 185: Chapter 139: Who are you?
Elsewhere in the organization’s building.
Su Yu had unexpectedly run into a petite young girl.
The girl was short, with the appearance of a teenager, but she was rumored to be in her sixties or seventies—one of the four Tier Five Sequencers Li Yu had dispatched to Southern Cang City.
"Hey, little bro. My code name is Rotten Girl. What about you?" The girl had a forward, familiar way about her, chattering away next to Su Yu. "What’s your name?"
"Su Yu."
The young man was a little flustered. He walked on with one hand in his pocket and said, "We don’t really do code names anymore."
Her code name, Rotten Girl, much like Li Longxuan’s—Blade—symbolized a Sequence and combat style that were uniquely hers.
In the previous generation, almost every well-known Sequencer had their own code name.
But in the new generation, no one gave themselves code names like they used to. Perhaps it was because there weren’t many Extraordinary Beings, or maybe because they were all still too young and not powerful enough yet.
"Oh, is that so..."
"Then I’ll just call you Yu."
Rotten Girl said nonchalantly. She looked at Su Yu with curiosity and asked in a low voice,
"What’s your Sequence? I heard that kid from the Li Family say you’re one of the most promising Sequencers of your generation."
"It’s not often you hear him praise someone like that."
Rotten Girl had a very girlish air about her, making it impossible to tell she was a middle-aged woman in her sixties or seventies. She seemed more like a young girl, which made Su Yu a little uncomfortable.
"My Sequence is ’Judgment.’ It’s said to be the first of its kind. As for its potential... that’s hard to say."
Su Yu said after a moment of thought.
"Judgment?"
"What kind of Sequence is that?"
She had only just come out of seclusion and didn’t know much about Su Yu, other than that he was at the Tier Three Peak and had an older brother who was an ordinary person.
So when she heard Su Yu mention a Sequence she’d never heard of before, she froze on the spot. A thought surfaced in her mind:
’A brand-new Sequence.’
Their special organization had compiled and cross-referenced every Sequence that had ever appeared in ancient texts with every known Sequencer in the modern world, ultimately creating an exhaustively detailed list of Sequences.
The list contained, if not thousands, then at least hundreds of different Sequences. It could truly be described as incredibly thorough.
Judgment.
A Sequence that wasn’t on the list.
While that didn’t mean it had never appeared in ancient times, the lack of any record in the old texts proved it was, at the very least, exceptionally rare.
Combined with the fact that he was the first person in the modern era to possess the Judgment Sequence, he could certainly be considered uniquely gifted, even if she had no idea what it did.
After all, a Sequencer’s fundamental strength was always determined by the rarity and effects of their Sequence.
Not everyone was a ridiculous monster like Li Longxuan, who had reached his current, terrifying level of power with two Sequences that were neither particularly strong nor especially rare.
At the thought of Li Longxuan, an image involuntarily surfaced in her mind—the scene from decades ago of him, under the name Blade, locked in a bloody struggle with those Martial Madmen. And the battle from just a few days ago, where an aged Li Longxuan still managed to fight a Tier Eight Spirit Lord from the Spirit Realm to a standstill. He was truly a Sword God.
Although Rotten Girl had never fought a Spirit Lord herself, she had engaged in frenzied battles with that same group of Martial Madmen decades ago. The sheer brutality and power of those Martial Artists were deeply seared into her memory.
From this, she could infer that the Spirit Lord from the Spirit Realm was no simple foe. He was likely even stronger than the most powerful Martial Madman from back then. An opponent who could absolutely not be underestimated!
Rotten Girl pulled her thoughts back to the present, her gaze refocusing on Su Yu beside her. A smile touched the corners of her lips as she asked,
"Can I see it?"
"I want to feel your Sequence."
As a genius of the new generation, the future would likely fall into the hands of people like Su Yu once old-timers like her withered away. This was another reason Rotten Girl was curious about his Sequence.
"See it? How...? There’s a price for releasing my Sequence."
"Mm, I know."
"A lot of Sequences have a price. Minor ones give you a splitting headache; major ones can kill you. But if you don’t actually release it, then nothing will happen."
Rotten Girl said calmly.
Su Yu immediately understood what she meant.
’Right. She’s a Tier Five Sequencer, after all. It should be easy for her to sense my power.’
So, Su Yu didn’t hesitate any longer. He stopped walking, extended his right hand toward Rotten Girl, and clenched his fist. Golden particles instantly radiated outward as his eyes flashed crimson-gold, like a deity descending upon the mortal world.
Rotten Girl had been nonchalant, but the instant Su Yu closed his fist, her pupils contracted sharply.
It was as if in the next moment, her heart would be crushed, her life extinguished, and her existence utterly wiped from the world.
The killing intent was so intense, so brutally and unreasonably forcing its way into her mind, that she almost slapped Su Yu to death on instinct. But she suppressed the impulse and couldn’t help but exclaim in astonishment,
"..."
"What is this power?!"
Su Yu had only made a preparatory gesture; he had no intention of killing the senior before him, so the sense of crisis quickly dissipated.
Rotten Girl looked at Su Yu, sighing to herself.
’This little guy is only at the Tier Three Peak. To me, he’s no different than a slightly larger ant.’
