Swordsmanship Coach: Kill with One Slash
Chapter 296 - 193: Someone Under the Bed (Part 2)Chapter 296: Chapter 193: Someone Under the Bed (Part 2)
"Something must have happened. Su Yu, you stay here with your brother. The rest of us will go up and see what’s going on."
"Okay."
The group exchanged glances, nodded, and headed straight up. Su Yu had reached the Tier Four Peak long ago, making him the strongest among them. Leaving him here would also ensure the safety of the main door.
As for Su Xing, they probably feared that if he joined the investigation, he might run into danger. Coincidentally, Su Yu, being Su Xing’s younger brother, could protect him.
After they left,
Su Yu turned his gaze to Su Xing.
But Su Xing said nothing, as he had also noticed Lu Anning trembling. He comforted her in a gentle tone,
"It’s alright."
"That might not be your friend."
"..."
Lu Anning fell silent. At first, she’d just thought her friend’s personality had inexplicably changed, but the more she looked into it, the more complicated the situation became. Now, Zhao Xue appeared to be at the very center of it all, and Lu Anning was extremely troubled by it.
"What do you mean?"
Su Yu looked at the two of them, a bit confused. He realized that his older brother and Lu Anning already knew who was in trouble upstairs without even going up. Curious, he asked,
"Zhao Xue?"
He recalled his older brother had indeed looked for a girl by that name. He had observed this group of ordinary people before but hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
"Mm."
But just as he said that,
Zhao Xue came running down from upstairs in a panic. Judging by the sound of her feet slapping against the floor, she obviously wasn’t wearing shoes. Her small, fair feet were covered in dust, making them look dark and grimy.
As it happened,
she ran right into the members of the special organization who were on their way up.
Such an encounter would naturally cause a bit of a commotion.
But no one dared to open their door to watch. After all, anyone who would carelessly open their door to gawk in a place like this couldn’t possibly have survived this long.
"Were you the one screaming?"
"What happened upstairs?!"
The members of the special organization asked almost in unison. One of the women immediately went behind Zhao Xue, gently patting her shoulder to try and calm her agitated state.
After a long while, Zhao Xue finally suppressed her bewildered panic. She took several deep breaths, then slowly said,
"Under... under the bed. There’s someone there."
Even as she tried to control herself,
her voice still trembled uncontrollably as she spoke, making the terror she felt in her heart palpable.
"A person?"
The members exchanged a look. "Are you sure it was a person?"
’He knew that asking something like this would only increase her fear, but some questions had to be asked to properly investigate.’
Sure enough,
Zhao Xue’s reaction was extreme.
Her voice was audibly agitated as she yelled, loud and strained,
"It was a person!"
"I’m sure it was a person!"
"It had long hair. It was too dark, so I didn’t dare look closely, but I think it was a woman!"
"Okay, okay, calm down."
The woman behind Zhao Xue gently soothed her while leading her to an open space to the side.
The three remaining male teammates looked at each other.
"Shall we go up and take a look?"
one of them immediately suggested.
The other two nodded without a word.
Although Zhao Xue’s story was bizarre, as members of the special organization, they wouldn’t be so easily frightened. Moreover, they were keenly aware of their responsibilities—a duty that shone all the brighter in times of crisis.
As for Zhao Xue,
she was too scared to go back upstairs at first.
But after an internal struggle, she insisted on going up with them.
Soon,
the five of them arrived at Zhao Xue’s room.
Two of them exchanged a glance, bent down together, and looked under the bed. The moment they saw what was there, their hearts skipped a beat—there really was a person there.
However,
it was too dark to make out her features clearly.
They could only tell it was probably a woman from the vague shape of her body and the long hair splayed across the floor.
The woman remained motionless under the bed, her eyes locked with the two members of the special organization who were peering in at her.
"Hm?"
’Why isn’t she moving?’
one of them wondered.
The other one said aloud,
"Something’s... something’s not right with her. Is it possible she’s... dead?"
"Yeah, it’s weird."
Hearing his partner, he snapped out of it, quickly pulling his phone from his pocket. He turned on the flashlight and aimed it under the bed.
The white light cut through the darkness,
and the two of them finally got a clear look.
The woman under the bed wasn’t a living person at all. She was a corpse, and from the advanced signs of decay, she’d been dead for a long time.
Fortunately,
despite the decay,
her features were still mostly recognizable.
She was young, with the unmistakable air of a student. But the sight of the corpse’s face made the two men’s blood run cold.
"..."
"Grab her!!!"
the two men roared.
They were referring to the Zhao Xue standing behind them.
Because...
the corpse they saw under the bed...
was the very same Zhao Xue who had run to them screaming just moments before.
Which raised the question:
Who was the Zhao Xue standing behind them?
"Huh?"
The team members who hadn’t looked under the bed had no idea what the other two had seen. They were completely baffled by the sudden command to "Grab her!" and didn’t know what to do.
Of course, they were quick to react.
After a moment’s hesitation, they realized something was wrong with Zhao Xue. But just as they moved to act, she vanished into thin air.
Simultaneously,
the moment Zhao Xue vanished, the door slammed shut.
An intense, bone-chilling cold instantly filled the room.
"!!!"
At this point, they needed no further reminder. They understood what they had encountered.
The two members who had been on the floor immediately scrambled to their feet. But as soon as they were up, they saw Zhao Xue—the one who had just been lying under the bed.
Now,
she stood icily behind them,
staring intently at the four of them through her rotted eye sockets, which were nothing but two pitch-black holes.
They didn’t even have to look back to feel the spine-chilling horror behind them.
"Stop her!"
"We need to break down the door!!!"
One of them, the quickest to react, instantly determined that they had no chance of defeating her. Their only hope was to escape the room.
The agents in this room
had been through countless missions.
With their combat experience, no one needed to be told what to do—they all knew the correct course of action. The two stronger members immediately condensed their Sequence energy and blasted it backward!
The other two rushed the door, smashing at the seemingly fragile wood with all their might. However, the wooden door felt as if it were an iron gate forged from the hardest alloy.
IT DIDN’T BUDGE AN INCH!
This turn of events was completely beyond their expectations. The full-power strike of two Tier Three Peak Extraordinary Beings couldn’t even break through the door. It wasn’t just the two Tier Three Peaks who felt a sense of despair; the two Tier Four Sequencers holding back Zhao Xue were overcome by a sense of helplessness as well.
HAH!
Zhao Xue let out a sharp cry. Her seemingly pale and frail arms suddenly mutated, as bone spurs erupted through her skin.
Then,
she lunged at them!
Though it was just a lunge, all four of them were Extraordinary Beings. They knew exactly how much terrifying power was packed into that simple movement.
The two Tier Fours were closest, and they felt it most acutely. Their expressions changed in an instant as they immediately dodged to the side.
And at that very moment,
BOOM!
The indestructible door suddenly exploded inward!
