Synthetic Wizard

Chapter 522 - 299: Divine Spirit War (Part 2)

Behind her, the Wizard from the Star Spirit Bell Tower had vanished without a trace.

In the distance, a dark mass of shadows suddenly appeared on the horizon.

Upon closer inspection, it became clear that this was actually tens of thousands of spiders.

They varied in size and form, waving their eight long limbs, surging forward like waves, as if to submerge the ancient tree.

The attack of the Spider Goddess Queen had begun!

As soon as the spiders touched down on the plains, the ground beneath them suddenly cracked open, countless vines erupted from the earth, rapidly growing, slicing through the air with shimmering vigor, lashing at the spiders like cruel whips.

An incessant cracking sound echoed in the air as the first wave of spiders exploded and shattered into pieces.

But more spiders followed, pouring in endlessly.

Some spiders began to transform mid-run, morphing into fearsome demon forms—Wax Melting Demons, Balrog Fire Demons, Deceit Demons, and various other bizarre demon shapes.

They wielded massive swords to hack at vines, spewed fire to scorch them, or unfurled wings to bypass them, rushing forward at great speed.

Soon, these demons reached the area cloaked by the ancient tree.

The supplicants, long poised to strike, advanced with blank expressions, charging towards the demons.

They wore no armor, only a thin robe draped over them, yet moonlight spontaneously materialized, shrouding their bodies, fending off the demons’ attacks.

Furthermore, their swordsmanship was exceptionally fierce.

Despite being vastly outnumbered by the invaders, the supplicants held their ground without faltering.

Ilya paid no heed to the battle below, her gaze fixed solemnly on the distance.

In the vast attacking force, a spider climbed straight upward, as if ascending an invisible thread. When it nearly touched the sky, violet demon fire suddenly ignited around it, swirling like a phoenix.

When the flames extinguished, the spider had transformed into a beautiful woman, her exquisite figure cloaked in robes and capes woven from transparent silk threads, playfully juggling a green spider dagger between her hands, one moment in the left, then in the right, and suddenly vanishing altogether.

She was none other than Rose, the Spider Goddess Queen, feared across the multiverse as the Queen of the Deep Pit Magic Net!

She tilted her face upward, gazing at Ilya on the ancient tree, pulling her full lips into a slightly mocking smile, yet her violet eyes remained expressionless.

"Long time no see, Ilya."

Ilya pressed her lips tight, saying nothing, pulling out the New Moon Sword with a reverse grip, its tip vibrating in the air with a crisp sound.

She raised the moon blade, pointing it at the Spider Goddess Queen.

The two goddesses locked eyes for a moment, then their forms flickered simultaneously, darting towards each other for a fierce kill.

The moon blade in Ilya’s grasp vibrated rapidly, a full moon rising from behind her, casting light across the night sky, momentarily driving back the oppressive blood-red, then lunged forward with a strike at Rose.

Rose floated back, with Ilya in pursuit, and the two goddesses commenced a life-and-death duel in the air.

Ilya’s movements were light and graceful, every gesture imbued with a delicate elegance, though she fought for her life, it seemed almost like a dance of swordplay.

In comparison, Rose appeared far more strange.

She was like a spider suspended on silk threads, her webs filling the sky, advancing and retreating swiftly as wind, seemingly rigid without finesse, yet every motion resulted from precise calculations to determine the most efficient paths and attack methods, without any ornamental flourish.

Despite engaging in direct combat, her every attack felt like an ambush, a classic assassin’s style.

Clang!

The New Moon Blade and spider dagger clashed, erupting into brilliant light, mixing the sound of clarity and murkiness.

The two participants seemed unaware, but invisible ripples spread out, tearing apart the surrounding void, leaving everything within reduced to dust, then reassembling in an instant, again and again.

Crimson blood-red clouds rolled in like storm clouds, an overwhelming pressure surged forth, nearly rendering consciousness insensible, only when Ilya’s moon blade swung, reflecting the bright full moon behind, scattering specks of light in all directions to slightly repel the darkness.

"This is the true power of the gods."

The Wizard hidden away from the Star Spirit Bell Tower watched this scene, revealing a look of admiration.

The exploitation of magic came with endless techniques and tricks, yet these were meaningless in the face of a Divine Spirit, even strong Tier Seven or Eight Magic would struggle to harm a Divine Spirit.

Only the highest Tier Nine Magic posed a slight threat to a Divine Spirit.

But only slight at best.

When True Spirit Wizards faced Divine Spirits, they rarely used the resource-draining Tier Nine Magic, preferring to employ the Power of Law equating to Divine Power and authority.

Only the Power of Law could truly threaten a Divine Spirit!

Whether it was Divine Spirit versus Divine Spirit, or Divine Spirit versus True Spirit Wizard, their battles were essentially clashes of Power of Law.

The competition boiled down to whose grasp on the Power of Law was stronger, whose understanding and mastery of it explored deeper.

The slaughter in the distance continued.

Ilya steadily resisted Rose’s repeated attacks, but her every counterattack was deftly dodged or blocked.

The disparity in power between the two was evident, were it not for the suppression effect of the New Moon Blade, held by the New Moon Goddess against Rose, she might have already fallen under Rose’s spider dagger.

Yet the Wizard understood this stalemate was temporary.

In face of such an overwhelming power gap, the ultimate outcome would remain unchanged.

This was precisely why they conveyed this intelligence to Ilya, hoping she would adequately prepare not to be defeated too miserably, at least inflicting significant damage on Rose.

Only then could their subsequent plans proceed!

As the two Divine Spirits clashed, blood-red clouds and bright moonlight filled the sky, interwoven, churning like stormy ocean waves.

Gradually, the figures of the two Divine Spirits became indistinct, only two colliding masses of blood-red and silver light remained visible!

After an indeterminate time, a thunderous roar suddenly erupted from above.

Then a great chasm ripped open in the mingled blood-red and silver cloud.

The figures of the two Divine Spirits reappeared.

Ilya retreated backward in disarray, her weapon flying from her grip, shattering into dozens of fragments in mid-air, scattering widely.

"Farewell, Ilya."

Rose declared coldly, a gigantic web descended from above, cocooning Ilya within, enveloping her heavily like a chrysalis, pulling her into the black hole in the sky to disappear.

"Ah!"

The supplicants on the ground let out a mournful roar, wanting to aid their faith, but as Ilya succumbed, the moonlight on them faded, quickly overwhelmed by the endless spiders and demons.

Witnessing this, Rose let out a low chuckle, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth, casting a deep glance towards the Wizard’s direction, then turned to take a step, vanishing abruptly into the void.

"Discovered?"

In the distance, the Wizard furrowed his brow slightly, but soon regained composure.

Being discovered mattered not.

The Spider Goddess Queen had long coveted the authority of the New Moon Goddess, the temptation before her was so immense, even if she knew it was a poisonous lure, she would surely take the bait.

This was a public strategy!

The situation now unfolded just as they planned, the bait had been swallowed, even if the Spider Goddess Queen realized they had facilitated this, it was too late.

The war on the plains had ended, without the New Moon Goddess’s protection, the supplicants had perished entirely.

The countless spiders dispersed widely, rejoicing, hissing triumphantly.

The crimson blood-red spread in all directions, deepening in hue.

The Deep Pit Magic Net was rapidly consuming this Divine Kingdom.

Soon, this place would become part of the Spider Goddess Queen’s domain.

The Wizard withdrew his gaze, tearing open a dimensional rift, stepping into it and disappearing.
