By now, the scene was familiar. Afterall, he sees it every night.

This night again, he was standing in the same spot he had always stood, eyes scanning the battlefield before him.

The creatures didn’t look like humans, not fully, but species that seem to inhabit this particular world.

He watched, just like every night as they were all slaughtered by a single woman. He squinted his eyes, his sympathy fading with time.

Instead he stared at the woman he had always stared at. Dressed in a black robe, and a veil. She used a sword too long to be real. Cutting a thousand before they had a chance to blink.

As every other night, Elias made the same conclusion. This woman gave off his mother’s aura.

He had long give up on asking. This was a playback and he couldn’t intervene.

"Why do I keep seeing this." He scratched his head.

Even with the repeated scene, one event still fascinated him. He looked up at the sky.

The wind around the purple sky cut.

It sliced across the battlefield below, tearing through dust and bodies. He held his breath as always, watching as the sky split.

What descended from the sky seem at first like a meteoroid, but as the object got larger, it was a hand.

A hand descended.

Too big. Joints like mountains. Nails like cliffs. The skin was pale and branded with lines of light that pulsed. The fighters lost their wills to fight.

One after the other, they scrambled back.

"It’s Omeo."

"He descended."

Elias eyes were fixed on the hand.

At this point, he knew he was about to wake up. He always did.

The space distort around him, and he found himself sitting on a tree, back in the coldness of the serpentile territory. He shifted slightly, eyes turning to met Quil staring at him.

The older male smiled.

"You were sleeping like a log of wood."

The memories came rushing back into Elias’s head. His lips quivered and he looked away.

"You could have been attacked," Quil poked him. "You didn’t even bulge when I tapped you. You slept for five hours. That was reckless!"

"It’s no big deal," he pulled up his knee. "The other me don’t sleep at the same time."

"The other me?"

He turned to him, shut his eyes for a second, and when he opened them again, Quil flinched. They were gray.

This was the same eyes he saw in the pit that morning. The same eyes that sent chills up his spine.

"Is this another personality?"

His eyes returned to normal, and he nodded.

"But why are you telling me this? Does it not bother you that I might use the information against you."

Elias almost scoffed. "The best thing that can happen to my enemies is provoking Mona.

Quil gulp down. "I don’t think that’s a best thing." He sighed afterwards. "I’m sorry for hitting you. I guess I let emotions cloud my judgement for a moment."

Elias didn’t respond. He just gave his usual hallow stare.

"You’re making me feel bad. Say something at least."

"Sure." He replied.

"What sort of reply is that?"

"You told me to say something."

Quil leaned closer to him. "Did you grow up with your family?"

"Till I was six."

"Then, have you been in a lab all this while?"

His eyes squinted.

"A lab?

"Lots of machines, straps, tubs, creatures..." He demonstrated.

The drastic change in Elias’s expression confirmed it.

"I see why you’re like this. You must have seen a lot of death."

"What is this? Pity?" He frowned.

"I’d be lying if I say it’s not."

"I don’t need your pity."

Quil chuckled.

"Alright, no pity. Then, would you like to be my friend?"

Elias brows shot up in suprise. The question had completely cut him off guard.

"Be your friend?"

"Yes."

"No! I have Yvonne." He stubbornly replied.

Quil poked his forehead. "it doesn’t hurt to have many friends."

He rubbed that spot, clearly pissed.

"How old are you?"

"Thirteen?"

Quil gasped. "Thirteen?!"

"Why?"

"Well...I thought you were too short for your age, I didn’t realise you were as short as your age,"

"Is that an insult?"

"It’s not! I’m fifteen."

"Don’t sweat it. You’re only two years older."

Quil chuckled softly. "Although you didn’t laugh, but you’re in a brighter mood. That’s a plus."

He hop down the tree.

"We should go get Natalie Naya. He deserves some beating."

"No." Elias hop down also. He tucked his hands in his pocket. "Natalie deserves a gift."

"A gift?"

"Yes. A gift." He began to walk.

Quil followed behind. He didn’t get it, but he knew he’d find out.

The walk back was a silent one. When they arrived, Laura and Lisa were sitting down.

They stood up and ran to him as soon as they saw him.

"Elias. Are you alright?" Lisa asked.

"I’m fine." He glanced around. "Where is Yvonne?"

"She went scouting." Laura replied.

"Scouting?" Quil frowned.

For a second, his eyes moved side and back to them.

’I guess the twin didn’t notice her behind the trees. But Elias should...right?’

Elias walk pass the girls and took a seat on one of the chunk of ice. The rest sat also.

"So what are we going to do?" Lisa asked. "Are we going after Natalie?"

"Not exactly. I’ll send him a gift instead."

"A gift?" Laura frowned. "He killed your friend!"

"Which is why I’ll spend him a gift."

"You keep saying gift," Quil stepped forward. "What is it?"

Elias tilted his head, like he was in thought for a moment. Then, he replied.

"His sister’s head."

"..."

"..."

"..."

They all exchanged glances. For a few seconds, even the air was still.

Then—

Laura bolted.

"Lisa run!"

Before she could move an inch, Elias eyes snapped to her. Numerous long sword formed in the air, stabbing the ground and caging it in.

When Laura glanced at her, she was trapped, panting heavily at the blades only a inch away from her neck.

"Shit!" Laura cursed. She continued running, desperate to escape, but in a blink, she saw the white hair girl before her.

Yvonne mouth opened, blasting a high frequency sound wave at her. She narrowly dodged it, but didn’t realise that the attack was aimed at Quil instead.

He compressed it into an arrow, ten times stronger, and shot it at her. The arrow pierced through her left leg, sending her stumbling and crashing into a chunk of ice.

Yvonne stepped out of the shadows into the faint moonlight. She wrapped her hand around Laura’s hair and pulled her back to Elias.

"Let go of me!" The girl thrashed around. "I’m not guilty of anything!"

"Oh really?" Yvonne raised a brow.

Laura glanced between them.

"I never told you guys that we’re Natalie’s sister, but that doesn’t change anything."

They glanced at Elias.

He stared at the ranting lady and then the one in the a prison of swords.

"Hmmm," he tilted his head.

"Whose head should I send to Natalie first."
