"He’s the reason we’re in this mess yes, but he’s also the reason we’re still standing as an empire."

Zeal walked to the middle of the room. "With that being said, I need to confirm something."

"What is it?" Rowen raised a brow.

"Watch." Zeal glanced at the kitchen direction. "Elias!"

"..."

Rowen raised a brow. "Why are you calling him?"

Elias stepped out of the kitchen, talking casual steps to them.

"I want to test out something." Zeal told him. "Is that allowed?"

"What are you talking about?"

"It’s just an harmless test."

At the sound of an harmless test, Elias completely eased out. "Then..."

As soon as he shut his eyes and opened them again, his eyes only reflected the man’s fingers a inch away, and he didn’t have the nerve to react.

Zeal drove his fingers into Elias’s eyes.

Pain instantly exploded behind his eyes, sending shock waves to his brain. He staggered back and let out a loud scream.

Rowen stumbled like he had shoved back, eyes widened so large, it’s also unnatural.

"Zeal!"

"My eyes! My eyes!" Elias burse into tears, reaching for anything. Blood was now flooding his face.

Keen stumbled out of the kitchen, gazing around in panic. "What happened?"

"Why did you do that?" Rowen gasped.

Zeal simply turned his expressionless face to his brother. "Take the kid and get out."

"What?" Rowen frowned. "What are you —"

"Aaarrrggghhh!!"

They all flinched.

Elias stumbled backwards and crashed into table.

"Take the kid and leave!" Zeal took a stance.

"Why?"

"My eyes!" Two different voices boomed across the room.

"What was that?" Keen was already grabbing Rowen’s trouser. "Is that Elias?!"

They watch him claw at the bleeding eyes, and suddenly he was clawing at his neck.

His mouth opened, and dark mist poured out from his mouth. Thick and cold. It hit the tile and spread like spilled ink. It climbed the walls. Swallowed the light.

"Is he conscious?!" Rowen held the kid and stepped back.

Zeal didn’t move.

"Is he conscious Zeal?!"

"No! He’s unconscious."

"Something is climbing the walls!" Keen cried.

The mist curled around Elias, cradling him, like it knew him. The air behind Elias suddenly split, like it was torn apart.

Fingertips punched through from the other side. Too many knuckles. They dug into the edges of reality and pulled.

"Something is coming out!" The kid was losing it.

Rowen picked him up, while watching the hands forcing the tear open. One of the hands, too large to be normal curled around the twitching Elias, cradling him.

"Can you fix it?"

"Yes." Zeal replied.

They didn’t exchange another word. Rowen dashed out.

He didn’t look back. In a minute, he had exited Cody. He dropped Keen by the street.

"Go to your other siblings."

A sudden explosion startled them. They glanced back at the direction of the house.

"This is serious." Rowen turn to go back, but before he could move, Keen grasp his hand.

"Father wait!"

"What is it?"

"That explosion would notify the authorities, and help will come. If you return there, the leading families might see you and Zeal together."

"So?" Rowen narrowed his eyes.

"Are you not trying to hide Elias?"

Rowen’s brain clicked.

Although Rowen and Zeal are twins, not many people know that they are two of them. They often got misunderstood for each other.

If a member of the authority finds Zeal with Elias, they’d definitely dismiss him as Rowen and Elias as one of the adopted children.

"Why didn’t I think of this?" He pat Keen’s head.

"That’s because your prefrontal cortex went offline."

Rowen frowned. "How can you say that to your father?"

"Suck it up, old man." Keen took off his glasses and handed it to Rowen. "Hold it."

The man instantly took it.

Keen used his left hand to brush his hair behind and stretched his right palm out.

"Ability activate."

His eyes glowed blue immediately.

"Foresight."

With his ability, he could read the possible futuristic event. So far, he could read what will happen in a week time.

"We won’t have a problem. He’ll definitely be mistaken as you, although Zeal might cause a rift between you and Lady Hinger."

"Why is that?"

"Forget it."

Rowen seem to calm down after that. He handed the glasses back to the kid rubbing his eyes, and scooped him up.

"Then we’ll live this to Zeal."

"No." Keen resisted. "I’ll go back."

"Why?"

"If I don’t, Lady Hinger will die."

___

When the authority got notification about the explosion that had happened in the town of Cody, they immediately dispatched raiders to take care of it, dismissing it as a normal portal outbreak.

However, the fifth leading family, lady Hinger Harmony proposed to go with them. Her schedule had been cleared out for the weekend.

They quickly used a teleportation tool to arrive at the scene in a second.

When they had arrived, the pinpointed place that had taken the hit in their report, it was no where to be found. It has been leveled into ruins. Rowen home was gone.

It was replaced by ruined foundation, a man covered in blood who they had instantly mistaken as Rowen, carrying a boy who they had assumed to be one of his child.

Elias had gone silent a while back, and was currently sleeping silently in Zeal’s hand, face hidden under the man’s neck.

Zeal observed the visitors as they approached him, without much of a difference.

"Mr Rowen," Lady Hinger spoke. "What are you up at this time?"

He narrowed his eyes.

This woman is the leader of the fifth leading family, rumoured to be in her forties, but for some reason she looked like a teenager.

He rolled his eyes. "Hag."

His one word struck fear in the heart of the hunters that had come to resolve the matter. They flinched visibly, and glanced at the lady who hasn’t moved an inch. Then they moved back.

"H...h...ag?" Lady Hinger stepped forward. Her face was now red in embarrassment. "Do you have a death wish?"

He raised his brow with a nonchalant reaction. "Do you want to kill me? Hag?"

She lost it. Lady Hinger dashed forward, hand reaching behind. A small portal opened behind her, and she pulled out a sword.

"I’ll crave out your tongue!"

Zeal just watched her till she was few inches away from him. Then, he stretched his hand and opened his mouth.

"For—"

"Dad!"

They both froze. Sword aimed at him, and his hand at her. They both looked to the side.

"Let’s relocate. Again."

Keen stood by the side, expression bored.

The two looked at the boy for a moment longer, before Zeal moved first. He adjusted Elias in his arm and walked to Keen.

Lady Hinger watched them leave completely, before frowning.

"For..."

She tilted her head.

"Speech type ability? Doesn’t he uses teleportation?"
