Liu Yun tightened her grip on her wooden stick as she cautiously scanned the area. Just as she was beginning to think there was nothing there, a chill suddenly ran down her spine.

Before anyone could react, a black shadow shot out from the darkness, rushing toward them like an arrow.

Out of instinct, Liu Yun raised her wooden stick to block the incoming attack. However, before she could do anything, a deafening explosion rang out.

Hearing the squeaking sounds behind him, Gu Zhenwei couldn’t suppress his curiosity and looked back. The moment he saw what was chasing them, goosebumps spread across his skin.

What entered his sight wasn’t a single creature, but a black tide surging across the streets.

Gritting his teeth, he spat out a single word. "Run!"

At that moment, Ye Xuan made a decision. Turning around, he pulled Liu Yun into his arms and shouted, "Stop running! Form a circle!"

Although Qiu Sixun and the others were confused, they immediately obeyed Ye Xuan’s order.

The moment they stopped running, the mutant rat leading the swarm suddenly let out a shrill scream.

"Kii!!"

Instantly, the high-pitched sound spread outward. Wherever the sound waves passed, buildings collapsed, and the streets cracked apart.

Seeing this, Ye Xuan quickly instructed, "Cover your ears!"

Hearing him, Liu Yun immediately covered her ears. Even so, she still felt dizzy, and a sharp pain exploded inside her head.

When the pain subsided, Liu Yun slowly raised her head. The moment she saw the scene before her, goosebumps spread across her entire body.

Hundreds of thousands of mutant rats surged toward them like a towering tidal wave.

Looking into the countless crimson eyes, Liu Yun finally understood why people feared rats.

While she stood frozen in terror, the first wave of mutant rats reached them.

Before she could react, a series of explosions erupted, followed by the most horrifying fireworks she had ever witnessed in both her lifetimes.
