System Mission: Seduce the Final Boss [BL]

Chapter 179: New things to my advantage, finally!

Myles looked at Blake without the slightest change in expression.

"No."

"Huh, why?"

"I won’t allow it."

Blake wrapped his arms around Myles just a little tighter.

"Of course I have to do this, I want to."

Myles’ gaze remained unwavering.

"Why?"

Blake looked toward the ceiling for a moment before answering.

"Well, I don’t want to be on bad terms with your friends."

"They aren’t my friends."

"They are."

Myles’ eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

"They aren’t."

Blake folded his arms.

"You’re doing all of this together, they have stayed together all these years. You’re even planning to die together... if that’s not friendship, then what is?"

"It doesn’t matter what you call it, I won’t let you act recklessly."

Blake scoffed.

"You seriously underestimate me. I can handle myself much better than you think, especially in these circumstances."

"Explain."

Blake tilted his head.

"Hm?"

"Explain your plan. If it’s reasonable, I’ll even consider it."

Blake immediately shook his head.

"Nope. I’m only explaining it if everyone is present and on board with it. I don’t want to repeat myself five different times."

A tiny vein became visible on Myles’ forehead.

His expression never changed, he still looked as calm as ever.

Yet somehow, Blake could tell he’d successfully irritated him.

’Oops.’

He suppressed a smile.

Before either of them spoke again—

"Cough..."

Blake suddenly bent forward, another cough escaping.

"...Kh..."

He covered his mouth, his chest tightened sharply.

’Heh, you hate when I’m sick, don’t try to act like that, if you can’t live up to it properly!’

It had happened several times while he was being held captive.

Back then, he’d barely noticed.

He had spent so much time drifting in and out of consciousness that everything blurred together.

Now, fully awake, the discomfort felt much more obvious.

Myles moved instantly, one hand gently cupping Blake’s cheek.

His eyes searched Blake’s face.

"What’s wrong?"

Blake slowly exhaled.

"I... hk, I need my incentive spirometer."

He rubbed his side.

"My ribs definitely got worse. As you know, some of those hits probably irritated them again. I should restart the breathing exercises."

Myles stood immediately.

"I’ll get it."

Blake blinked.

"...From my apartment?"

"Yes."

"You can’t exactly do that, you don’t have my keys."

Without saying a word, Myles reached into one pocket.

A familiar keychain dangled between his fingers.

Blake stared.

"How?"

"The others recovered your backpack from the ruins."

"Oh..."

Blake visibly relaxed.

"Wait, what about my phone, is it okay?"

"No, it’s broken."

Blake sighed deeply.

’What a mess.’

Myles quietly walked toward the door.

Before opening it, he turned back, his dark eyes settling on Blake.

"Stay put and don’t engaged with anyone, even if they speak first."

Those pitch-black eyes somehow made the simple sentence sound less like a request and more like an absolute law.

Blake instinctively straightened.

"I will, I will..."

He nodded several times.

The door clicked shut, and silence filled the room.

Blake waited a few more seconds.

’He’s gone, I think.’

He slowly rolled onto his side. His ribs protested immediately.

"...Ow..."

Not the best idea.

He settled for turning his face into the pillow instead.

He wasn’t sure if there were hidden cameras in the dark room but now, nobody could tell if he moved his mouth to speak.

There was something he’d wanted to check for a while.

He couldn’t walk anywhere anyway, so he might as well use the opportunity.

He quietly mouthed,

"Spoon, check favorability."

A familiar translucent screen appeared above him.

[ Yes, Dear Host. ]

[ Favorability check cost: 50 Coins. ]

"Yeah."

Another screen appeared over his head, although he couldn’t see it.

[ ... ]

[ ... ]

Blake rolled carefully back onto his back.

A final notification flashed.

[ Favorability Level: 13 → 79 ]

Blake froze.

’What?’

His eyes widened so much they almost hurt.

’Seventy-nine?’

His breathing caught, his hands slowly rising to cover his mouth, vision blurring.

’That idiot...’

His eyes watered.

’He likes me way more than he lets on!’

He laughed quietly despite the tears threatening to fall.

’Not a hundred but it’s pretty close...’

His chest felt strangely warm.

All this time, even while suspecting him, even while questioning him.

Even after discovering Blake had been hiding things from him...

Myles still loved him that much.

Before Blake could process it, half a dozen new windows burst into existence.

’Whoa, they’re multiplying!’

One after another.

[ Unlocked: Advanced Skill Slot ]

[ Unlocked: Advanced Status ]

[ Unlocked: Independence Level 1 ]

[ Favorability rewards ]

[ Favorability 20 → +100 Coins ]

[ Favorability 30 → +500 Coins ]

[ Favorability 40 → +1000 Coins ]

[ Favorability 50 → +1300 Coins ]

[ Favorability 60 → +1800 Coins ]

[ Favorability 70 → +2000 Coins ]

[ Total Reward: 6700 Coins ]

His jaw slowly dropped.

’Never thought I would see this day... I’m rich!?’

He stared at the number in disbelief.

’I can basically buy anything I want now...’

He yawned into one hand.

"What’s advanced Slot?"

[ Dear Host, your Skill Capacity has increased. ]

[ Previous Maximum: 3 Skills ]

[ New Maximum: 15 Skills ]

’Fifteen?!’

He didn’t have to agonize over replacing one skill with another anymore.

He could actually build combinations and store useful abilities.

He crossed his arms and sneakily pointed toward the remaining windows, silently asking to explain everything else.

[ Advanced Status provides a more detailed analysis of the Target’s feelings toward the Host. ]

A new interface unfolded.

[ Trust: 23 → Target does not consistently believe the Host’s statements and remains uncertain whether the Host will always stay. ]

’Ah, okay...? What!! That’s hella low!!!’

Still, after everything, he couldn’t blame Myles.

[ Respect: 80→ Target admires the Host’s character and abilities. ]

’I guess that’s not unexpected? Still, eighty surely exceeds my expectations.’

Blake blinked twice.

[ Attachment: 82→ Being separated from the Host is difficult for the Target. ]

Blake’s lips slowly parted.

’Woah... is he that attached to me? I guess well, he could be called clingy with how he behaves, sometimes?’

[ As previously established, Dear Host, each individual statistic and the general Favorability Level require separate purchases when viewed in the future. ]

Blake smirked to himself.

’With this many coins, I think I’ll survive as much.’

The final series of windows appeared.

[ Independence Level becomes available after Favorability reaches Level 70. ]

[ Independence Level 2 unlocks at Favorability 80. ]

[ Further levels unlock progressively until Level 4. ]

’Okay, this sounds useful.’

[ Independence Level 1 Benefits ]

[ 1. Reject three non-essential missions per month. We will explicitly inform the Host whether a mission is mandatory or optional. ]

[ 2. The Host may now speak more freely without automatic restrictions, provided the topic is unrelated to the System itself or mandatory missions. ]

[ 3. Three penalties may be ignored, including penalties from mandatory missions. ]

Blake slowly lowered his head.

’Wow.’

That was far more generous than he had expected.

The ability to reject missions alone would’ve been invaluable a few weeks ago.

Being able to avoid penalties?

Speak more freely?

He’d spent so long terrified of saying the wrong thing that the freedom almost felt unreal.

If he hadn’t unlocked this favorability level now, he would’ve continued stumbling through every conversation blind.

’Not bad but.... it’s not fair that even the privileges that come with the favorability are under a paywall!!!’
