Chapter 721: The Four-Faction AllianceChapter 721: Chapter 721: The Four-Faction Alliance
Ethan stepped onto the command deck, where the morning light filtered through the reinforced glass, illuminating tactical maps suspended in mid-air. Annie stood by the central console, her intense, split-pupil gaze softening into a warm, inviting expression as she noticed his arrival.
"Sit, Ethan," Annie said, her voice carrying a rare, gentle tone as she gestured toward a seat beside her. "You have been through a harrowing ordeal, yet your first instinct was to save General Boros. The entire Heavenly Sword Pavilion owes you a massive debt."
"I merely executed my duty as a medic, Sect Leader," Ethan replied, offering a perfectly timed, humble bow.
"It is far more than that," Annie said, leaning forward with a persuasive, bright smile. "The Ancestors have thoroughly analyzed the samples and the data you retrieved. They have concluded that this subterranean tomb is far too monumental for our Pavilion to monopolize safely. To ensure our absolute victory, we have officially contacted the Black Mountain Sect, the Thunder Dragon Sect, and the Evergreen Sect."
She paused, allowing the gravity of the political shift to sink in. "A grand alliance has just been signed. Together, the four major factions will completely blockade and exclude the Crimson Sect from this territory. Right now, their combined armies are mobilizing to launch a total, overwhelming assault on the valley."
Ethan feigned a look of pleasant surprise. "A multi-sect mobilization? The scale must be unprecedented."
"It is," Annie agreed softly, her eyes locked onto his, projecting absolute sincerity and warmth. "And you are the core catalyst of this entire operation. The alliance’s primary objective is to breach the tomb and securely fortify a extraction zone specifically for you. We want you to safely harvest the Water of the Dead and refine the divine medicine on a massive scale. If everything proceeds according to this layout, the high command has already decreed your reward."
She stood up, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Your contributions are so massive that the promotion order has already been drafted. You are to be elevated to the rank of Grand Elder. You will answer only to me and the supreme Ancestor. The moment we return to the main sect headquarters, the ceremony will be made official before the entire realm. We value you, Ethan. Your future with us is limitless."
Annie leaned in closer, the scent of fresh lotus radiating from her. Her voice dropped to a sultry, intimate whisper. "In fact, Ethan... a talent like yours shouldn’t just be a Grand Elder. If you want true roots within the Heavenly Sword Pavilion, my hand in marriage is entirely open to you. Together, we could inherit the supreme authority of the Pavilion."
She shifted slightly, her modest, youthful figure pressing subtly against his arm. Her unique, split-pupil eyes locked onto his, flashing with a dangerous charm as she openly used her alluring presence to bind him to her.
Deep within his mind, Crul’s voice echoed with intense, cold urgency. [Whatever you do, Master, do not touch her yet. Her current cultivation level vastly outstrips yours, and those dual pupils are incredibly perilous. If she detects a single discrepancy in your spiritual fluctuations, she will not hesitate to execute you regardless of the potion. We are too close to the layout’s completion; do not compromise it.]
Ethan maintained absolute decorum. He smiled warmly, gently stepping back just enough to politely break the contact while bowing respectfully.
"Sect Leader, your grace and favor overwhelm this humble medic," Ethan said, his voice smooth and entirely composed as he skillfully deflected the seduction. "To receive such high praise and the rank of Grand Elder is already beyond my wildest dreams. I dare not dream of accompanying the supreme star of our Pavilion until I have truly proven my worth by securing the resources below."
Annie looked at him, a faint, intrigued smile playing on her lips as she noted his restraint. "Very well, Ethan. I like a man who focuses on results. Prepare yourself; the allied armies will arrive within days."
As Ethan left the command deck, the heavy steel doors slid shut behind him. The Vice Sect Leader stepped out from the adjacent shadow room, walking over to stand beside Annie.
"Annie," the Vice Sect Leader said, looking toward the closed doors. "Why did you let young Ethan leave so easily? I thought your intention was to permanently bind him to our ship."
"I know, Uncle," Annie said, her expression instantly turning icy as her dual pupils narrowed. "But I feel something incredibly strange about him. For a split second, I had the distinct sensation that he is far more dangerous than he appears, as if he is hiding something massive from us."
"I thoroughly investigated his background," the Vice Sect Leader replied, shaking his head. "The boy’s records are completely clean."
"I know, Uncle," Annie murmured, staring at the floor. "But there are details about this that I simply do not understand."
"Tell me," the Vice Sect Leader said. "Perhaps speaking it aloud will help clarify your doubts."
"What intrigues me the most is his survival," Annie said, turning to face him. "He escaped that subterranean abyss entirely too easily. Perhaps too easily. Even if Heidy possessed immense power, I cannot believe she detained those high-tier monsters with such effortless efficiency."
"Now that you mention it, that is true," the Vice Sect Leader said, his eyes widening slightly as the realization hit him. "Three massive entities at the peak of the Spirit Sea realm were unable to stop Heidy and a kid who hasn’t even formed a Golden Core? That is almost laughable. The more I reflect on it, the less I can believe that boy managed to escape that slaughterhouse completely unscathed."
