Chapter 730: Chapter 730: The Feast
The colossal Bone Dragon plummeted from the sky, its hollow jaws ablaze with spectral flames. It snatched the Great Ancestor of the Black Mountain Sect straight out of the air. The massive, bone-chiseled mandibles slammed shut with brutal force, chewing the powerful cultivator’s body like a mere scrap of raw meat.
"Ahhhhh!" screamed the Black Mountain patriarch, his bones shattering into splinters and his blood raining over the dense fog before he was swallowed whole.
Hearing those agony-laced screams, the remaining Great Ancestors and Gusher shrieked in absolute terror, running desperately to escape. However, the massive Pillars of Despair completely sealed every exit route, and the heavy Cursed Mist completely destroyed their sense of direction, leaving them running in pathetic circles.
"Stupid mortals, your punishment will not be so merciful!" said the Lich.
The Lich’s clone extended his withered hands and unleashed surges of dark, necrotic energy. Instead of killing them outright, the dark magic sliced through the air like invisible saws.
"My legs!" screamed the Great Ancestor of the Heavenly Sword Pavilion.
"My arms, ahhh!" screamed Gusher.
The Lich tore off their arms and legs in a single brutal sweep, instantly cauterizing the stumps with green spectral fire to prevent them from bleeding out too quickly. Using thick chains of calcified bone, he dragged their limbless torsos through the mud, bringing them right back to where Ethan stood. The clone dumped them onto the dirt like butcher scraps, then knelt down respectfully.
"Master, I have brought those who have offended you," said Vel’Kha’Lems.
Gusher, squirming in his own blood and reduced to a limbless human torso, stared up at Ethan with eyes injected with pure panic. His imperial arrogance had evaporated completely.
"Who are you?!" shouted Gusher. "What kind of monster did we bring into the Soaring Dragon Kingdom?!"
Ethan ignored the envoy’s frantic wailing entirely, turning his gaze toward his undead servant.
"If we kill them and you absorb their energy, will that break the seals and free you?" asked Ethan.
"No, Master. These cultivators are far too weak for me to even take them seriously in my ritual," said the Lich.
"Then, can I devour them myself?" asked Ethan.
"Of course, Master. They are all yours," said Vel’Kha’Lems.
"Wipe out everyone else in the valley, except for the women inside that ship," said Ethan, pointing toward the wreckage of the Impenetrable-class flagship.
"Of course, the Master’s women will be treated with absolute respect," said Vel’Kha’Lems.
The Lich raised his hand, and a massive new horde of skeletons erupted from the earth, restarting the grand-scale slaughter. The tide of undead marched directly toward the crashed flagship.
"Hold the line! Protect the core and the quarters of Grand Medic Ethan! Protect his family with your lives!" screamed an elder disciple from the upper deck, his ancestral blade dripping with black blood and his face contorted in absolute panic.
The soldiers and disciples of the allied sects were completely ignorant of the chilling truth. They had no idea that Ethan was the mastermind behind this nightmare, let alone that the man they were desperately trying to save was the sole architect of their annihilation. To them, fighting to their last breath to protect the medic’s family was their final, sacred act of military honor.
But their bravery quickly dissolved into a bloody tragedy. Without the Great Ancestors to hold back the tide, the endless horde of the undead slammed into the Impenetrable-class flagship like a tidal wave of bone and rusted iron. Thousands of skeletons and Nightmare Knights scaled the outer hull, tearing through the reinforced blast doors with brute, communal force. The enchanted steel plates buckled and shattered with deafening crunches before the relentless plague.
The grand interior of the flagship transformed into a dead-end slaughterhouse. The undead flooded the corridors in a frantic surge of pure violence. The disciples’ swords shattered against the heavy armor of the Nightmare Knights, while grotesque skeletons ripped off limbs with their bare hands and decapitated defenders, painting the metallic walls with gushing streams of warm blood. Screams of agony, the sickening crunch of crushed bone, and the overwhelming stench of copper filled every single corridor. Soldiers fell one after another, trampled and torn apart in heart-wrenching despair.
The undead systematically butchered every single male on board, carving through the ship with terrifying, military precision. However, the moment they reached the heavy blast doors of Ethan’s private quarters, the tide of violent destruction halted instantly. The monsters did not force the lock. Instead, covered in the fresh blood of the slaughtered guards, the undead turned around and formed an impenetrable wall of rusted steel and bone shields directly in front of the entrance—protecting the women inside with absolute devotion.
The doors to the quarters opened. Mary, Louisa, and the other women looked outside, pale and terrified.
"Please, don’t hurt us!" Mary said, putting Louisa behind her.
Upon hearing the door and her voice, the mass of monsters froze completely. Dozens of skeletons and zombies dropped to their knees, parting to create a clear walkway through the bodies.
A massive Nightmare Knight rode forward on his spectral steed, dismounted, and dropped to one knee.
"Khar’zuk thol’gor," said the knight in the tongue of the dead.
"We... we don’t understand what you’re saying," Louisa said, her voice trembling.
The knight showed no impatience. Keeping his head bowed, he extended his iron gauntlet toward the hallway, pointing toward the exit like a noble showing the way to a lady.
"Do they... do they want us to follow them?" one of the maidservants said.
"It seems they are protecting us. Come on, quickly," Mary said, taking Louisa’s hand.
The women walked through the horde in an unreal silence. As they passed, the few dying soldiers lying on the floor stared at them with wide eyes.
"Why... why aren’t they killing them...?" a dying soldier said from the ground, spitting blood before losing consciousness.
Without answering him, the women continued their march escorted by the undead, completely bewildered as the relentless demons of the tomb turned into their honor guard.
