Chapter 766: The Shadow of IntimidationChapter 766: Chapter 766: The Shadow of Intimidation
"Enough!" King Alaric barked, but the tension had already surpassed the point of no return.
Ethan smoothly released Isabella’s waist and, in the blink of an eye, launched himself into the air. The prince’s guard who had begun drawing his blade unleashed a horizontal slash imbued with silver spiritual energy, but Ethan casually deflected the impact with the flat side of his black blade, using the momentum to position himself directly above them.
In mid-air, the air surrounding Ethan turned bone-chillingly dense. His Sword Dao Heart overexerted to its absolute threshold activating the newly forged comprehension he had attained during his recent closed-door cultivation he saturated his technique with the force of his void bloodline.
A violet and pitch-black aura, distorted by microscopic spatial fissures, enveloped the blade of his sword.
[Void Twilight]
The descending strike tore down like a meteor of pure darkness. The Spiritual Transcendence Realm elder standing as a shield before Julian reacted on pure instinct, raising his treasure-grade sword to block the incoming attack while deploying the full extent of his spatial domain.
CLANG!
The sound of shattering metal echoed across the entire plain. The elder’s treasure-grade sword was severed cleanly in two as if it were rotted wood. The spatial void energy did not halt there—it sheared through his runic defenses and tore across his chest in a flawless diagonal trajectory, leaving his torso nearly split in two before the sheer force slammed him, spraying blood onto the golden grass.
The silence that followed was absolute and deafening.
The remaining protector elder recoiled shielding Prince Julian behind a trembling barrier of energy. Julian stood petrified, his face pale as chalk and his eyes bulging in horror as he stared down at the mangled body of his strongest guardian.
Ethan landed gracefully on his feet just a few meters away, flicking the blood off his black blade with a sharp motion before slowly sheathing it.
"Still a bit too slow..." Ethan muttered nonchalantly, casting a sideways glance at Julian. "Who’s next?"
The second protector elder, blinded by rage and panic at the sight of his companion bleeding out onto the grass, roared with savagery. He unleashed the full extent of his Spiritual Transcendence Realm power, condensing a silver aura around his fists as he lunged furiously toward Ethan.
"You damned brat, die!" the elder bellowed, aiming to crush Ethan’s head before the youth could react.
Ethan didn’t budge. He simply rested his hand on the pommel of his sword, ready to unsheathe once more.
However, before the elder’s attack could advance another inch further, the temperature across the plain plummeted drastically. The air surrounding the protector turned so dense it felt as though it had transformed into blocks of invisible steel.
The elder’s body froze completely mid-air, trapped half a meter away from Ethan. The expression of rage petrified on his face while his eyes bulged in shock, unable to move a muscle or channel a thread of spiritual energy.
Great General Vaelen took a step forward with terrifying composure, casually holding a hand raised.
"Enough," Vaelen’s voice declared, echoing with an authority that made the ground tremble. "Take another step, and not even your ashes will remain."
With a subtle flick of his fingers, Vaelen dispelled the spatial compression, sending the elder tumbling backward onto the grass, coughing desperately as he fought to catch his breath.
Julian stumbled backward unable to process the overwhelming display of power he had just witnessed. Not only had the Deputy General left one of his most experienced guards nearly split in two with a single strike, but the legendary Great General of the Soaring Dragon Kingdom was fully prepared to crush them on their own soil.
"You..." Julian stammered, his face twisted in horror and his voice trembling. "This is an act of war!"
"No, little prince," King Alaric intervened, stepping forward with his head held high and a gaze oozing absolute disdain. "This is a lesson in manners for those who don’t know how to weigh their words. Now, remove your troops from our sight before my patience runs out completely."
Julian clenched his teeth in helpless fury. He glared at Ethan, who offered him an icy smirk from a distance, and then looked at the defeated bodies of his protectors. He knew that if he pushed any further, he wouldn’t leave that plain alive.
"We will meet in the Imperial City..." Julian spat with pure hatred before ordering the immediate retreat of his delegation.
Ethan watched as the Silver Dragon cruiser and its fleet hastily boarded and beat a full retreat into the sky. Sheathing his black sword, he turned toward the royal delegation and offered a brief nod.
"Thank you, Great General," Ethan said, addressing Vaelen before glancing at Alaric. "And Your Majesty, my apologies for stepping ahead and causing this kind of trouble on foreign soil."
King Alaric let out a huff and crossed his arms over his chest, looking at him with a mix of exasperation and resignation.
"Brat..." Alaric said, shaking his head. "I don’t believe for a second that you don’t know what you’re doing. But at the end of the day, this is exactly what’s going to happen when you break her formal engagement with Isabella. It will be an all-out war between our kingdoms regardless, so there’s no need to fake politeness with that scum anymore."
Isabella looked at Ethan with an expression brimming with mixed emotions, gently squeezing his hand as the roar of the White-Sea Dragon’s engines echoed behind them, signaling that the core system repairs were finally complete.
"Let’s go," King Alaric ordered in a firm voice, turning back toward the ramp.
With the path cleared and the vessel ready, the delegation boarded the battleship once more to resume their course toward the Imperial City, knowing full well that the political storm and incoming bloodshed were now completely inevitable.
The White-Sea Dragon roared fiercely, soaring rapidly into the skies before distorting reality around itself and instantly vanishing into warp, leaving only a trail of violet light fading in the atmosphere.
