Ethan closed the chamber door with a dull thud, securing the latch before turning toward her. The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, illuminating Isabella’s silhouette as she watched him with a mixture of curiosity and expectation.

"Decisive, I would say...", answered Ethan the young man with a crooked smirk, closing the distance between them to gently take her by the waist.

"You saved it well," said Isabella the young lady with a sly smirk, resting a finger against Ethan’s chest. "If you had called me a whore, I would have killed you."

Ethan let out a long sigh of relief as he wrapped his arms around her.

What a mess I’ve just gotten myself into, thought Ethan the young man to himself, looking into the unyielding gaze of the woman he had just recruited as his cultivation companion.
