Taming the Tyrant Beast Women
Chapter 42: The Grim Reaper Beneath the MoonThe Grim Reaper Beneath the Moon
"All clear ahead," Leon called back to the two behind him.
He glanced at Selena.
His voice low.
"Careful, sweetheart. You’re making her jealous."
Selena’s smile widened.
"Good. She deserves to know what she’s up against."
Leon laughed.
"I love when you’re confident. It’s sexy."
"Darling... we’re in a dungeon."
"I know. But you’re still sexy."
Selena’s cheeks flushed.
"You’re impossible."
"You said that already."
"Because it’s true."
They shared a quiet laugh.
The sound felt strangely out of place in the dungeon.
The corridor around them was dark and damp. Cold air drifted through the narrow passage, carrying the faint smell of earth and blood. Somewhere farther ahead, water dripped steadily from the ceiling.
Yet Leon and Selena seemed almost oblivious to it.
For them, the dungeon had briefly become little more than a walk through the night.
Behind them, however, Levis was staring at the pair with an expression that bordered on disbelief.
He had expected danger.
He had expected tension.
He had even expected Leon and Selena to be confident.
What he had not expected was for them to joke around after what had just happened.
Levis swallowed.
"Evelyn... what do we do now?"
Evelyn did not answer immediately.
Her eyes remained fixed on the path ahead.
She was still processing what she had seen.
Levis was, too.
One strike, four wolves?
The thought kept repeating itself.
On Normal difficulty, Evelyn could do that too.
But this was Nightmare difficulty!
That was the part he couldn’t get past.
Those four grey wolves had not been weak creatures. They were monsters designed for a difficulty level where ordinary mistakes could cost someone their life.
And Selena had cut through them as if they were nothing.
Not after a long fight.
Not after exhausting herself.
One strike.
Four dead wolves.
Levis slowly rubbed the back of his neck.
"This is getting ridiculous."
Evelyn finally looked at him.
"Let’s follow for now. When we reach the boss, they’ll get what’s coming to them."
Her voice remained calm.
At least, she tried to make it sound calm.
Inside, however, she was far less composed.
She hadn’t expected him to be this strong!
Evelyn’s gaze shifted toward Selena.
Then toward Leon.
There was something different about the two of them.
They weren’t acting like people who were trapped inside a Nightmare-level dungeon.
They looked comfortable.
Almost too comfortable.
And that made Evelyn uneasy.
Leon noticed the change in her expression.
His brows lifted slightly.
What? Did Selena overdo it?
He glanced toward the corpses of the four wolves.
She just one-shot four mobs.
He considered it for a moment.
That’s not too extreme, is it?
Leon scratched his cheek.
He genuinely seemed confused.
From his perspective, Selena had simply dealt with a few monsters that had gotten in their way.
He hadn’t considered how shocking it looked from everyone else’s perspective.
Never mind. I’ll tone it down next time.
His attention returned to Selena.
He reached out and lightly touched her arm.
"Sweetheart, maybe hold back a little. We don’t want to scare our prey."
Selena looked at him.
For a moment, there was a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Then she nodded.
"Of course, darling. Whatever you need."
Leon smiled.
"That’s my girl."
They continued forward.
The dungeon seemed to grow quieter the deeper they went.
Their footsteps echoed against the stone floor.
One step.
Then another.
The faint light from the moon slipped through cracks in the ceiling above, painting broken patches of silver across the ground.
Levis stayed several steps behind.
He kept his eyes moving.
Left.
Right.
Ahead.
He had a bad feeling.
The kind that settled quietly in the stomach before anything actually happened.
Evelyn seemed to feel it too.
She slowed.
"Wait."
Leon stopped.
Selena immediately turned her head.
"What is it?"
Evelyn didn’t answer.
She listened.
For several seconds, there was nothing.
Then came a faint scraping sound.
Something moved in the darkness.
Levis tightened his grip on his weapon.
"There."
A pair of pale eyes appeared between the shadows.
Then another.
And another.
Five sets of eyes slowly emerged from the darkness.
Grey wolves stepped into the moonlight.
Their bodies were larger than ordinary wolves.
Their fur was rough and dirty.
Saliva hung from their jaws as they lowered their heads.
Five of them.
And this time, they didn’t attack immediately.
They spread out.
One moved left.
Another moved right.
Two circled behind them.
The last remained directly ahead.
They were surrounding the group.
Levis’s expression hardened.
"They’re trying to trap us."
Leon looked around.
Then he smiled faintly.
"Looks like they learned from their friends."
Selena rolled her shoulders.
"Should I—"
"No."
Leon gently stopped her.
"Let’s give someone else a turn."
His gaze shifted toward Evelyn.
Evelyn understood immediately.
Her eyes narrowed.
She stepped forward.
The wolves reacted.
Their muscles tightened.
A low growl rolled through the dungeon.
Evelyn breathed out slowly.
She could no longer afford to wait.
If she kept standing around, the wolves would attack first.
And she wasn’t about to let them tear apart the formation.
Her expression changed.
The softness disappeared from her face.
Her eyes became sharp.
Focused.
Cold.
Then she activated her beastification.
Her body began to tremble.
It started subtly.
A faint shiver ran through her shoulders.
Then the transformation accelerated.
Her small frame began to stretch.
Her body lengthened.
Her limbs became slender.
At the same time, they grew stronger.
There was a strange sound beneath her skin as her bones and muscles shifted into their new form.
Levis instinctively took a step back.
He had seen Evelyn transform before.
But watching it happen in the middle of a dungeon still made his stomach tighten.
Hard chitinous plates pushed through her skin.
One after another.
They caught the moonlight and gleamed with a cold, almost metallic sheen.
Her silhouette changed rapidly.
Her upper body retained the recognizable features of a beautiful adult woman.
Her delicate face remained intact.
But the expression on it had become completely different.
There was no hesitation now.
No uncertainty.
Only determination.
Eight long, spindly legs unfolded beneath her.
They touched the ground one after another.
Each movement was precise.
Controlled.
The limbs looked unnatural at first glance.
Yet the longer Leon watched, the more he understood how dangerous they were.
They weren’t clumsy.
They weren’t heavy.
They were built for speed.
Every leg moved with frightening precision.
Evelyn lowered her body.
The wolves growled.
For a brief moment, neither side moved.
Then Leon noticed the exposed portion of her abdomen.
It was usually hidden beneath her clothing.
Now, because of the transformation, that part of her body was uncovered.
Her skin looked pale beneath the moonlight.
Smooth.
Unblemished.
A small navel rested at the center of her abdomen.
Leon stared for half a second longer than he intended.
What a stunning transformation.
His thoughts became quieter.
Even knowing she’s a monster inside...
His eyes followed the movement of her body as she shifted her weight.
She’s beautiful.
A faint smile touched his lips.
And she’ll be mine soon.
One of the wolves suddenly lunged.
Evelyn moved first.
She didn’t retreat.
Instead, her body snapped sideways with incredible speed.
The wolf’s jaws closed on empty air.
Evelyn’s forelimb swept upward.
THWIP!
The sharp limb struck the wolf across the side.
The creature was thrown sideways.
It slammed into the stone wall.
Before the others could react, Evelyn was already moving again.
One leg pushed against the ground.
Her body twisted.
Another forelimb flashed through the darkness.
THWIP!
A second wolf recoiled.
The remaining three charged together.
Evelyn’s eyes narrowed.
She didn’t panic.
She simply moved.
Eight legs carried her body across the ground in a blur.
One wolf passed beneath her.
Another snapped at her from the side.
She avoided both.
Her movements were almost impossible to follow.
Fast.
Precise.
Efficient.
Levis stared.
He had thought Selena’s earlier display was shocking.
Now he wasn’t so sure which sight was more terrifying.
Evelyn struck again.
THWIP!
A wolf stumbled.
She immediately followed with another attack.
THWIP!
The creature collapsed.
The other wolves hesitated.
That hesitation lasted less than a second.
But Evelyn noticed it.
She always noticed weakness.
Her expression hardened.
She surged forward.
The battle exploded into motion.
Claws scraped against stone.
Fangs snapped shut.
Chitin struck fur.
The wolves tried to surround her.
Evelyn refused to let them.
She kept moving.
Always moving.
And beneath the cold moonlight, her transformed figure flashed through the darkness like something born specifically for the hunt.
THWIP THWIP—
The wolves staggered as the strikes pierced them.
Evelyn barely dodged a counterattack.
Then drove in a few more piercing blows.
Before they finally collapsed.
Under the moonlight, Evelyn danced like the Grim Reaper.
Her blade-like forelimbs reaping lives with deadly grace.
Selena carefully controlled her strength.
Matching Evelyn’s kill rate.
Soon, both teams arrived at a clearing.
In the distance, a white wolf as tall as a two-story building had already spotted them.
Its head tilted back.
Emitting a long, piercing howl.
Ready to attack.
Evelyn knew this was her last chance.
*This Selena woman was no easy opponent.*
*But the boss...*
*The boss would be different.*
*She would make sure they suffered.*
*[Ding! Target: Evelyn Blackheart. Tyranny Value increased by 14%.]*
*Excellent—69%!*
Leon’s grin widened.
In this world, forming a soul contract required building affection.
*Fuck that.*
*System-mandated forced binding—learn about it.*
*No matter what kind of "goddess" you think you are—kneel.*
He looked at Selena.
"Sweetheart. Are you ready?"
Selena’s golden eyes gleamed.
"For you, darling? Always."
*I love her,* Leon thought.
*I love the way she trusts me.*
*The way she looks at me.*
*The way she fights for me.*
*She’s not just my beast-girl.*
*She’s my partner.*
*My companion.*
*My everything.*
*And soon...*
*She’ll have a sister.*
*Evelyn will join us.*
*Whether she likes it or not.*
The white wolf charged.
Its massive body shaking the ground.
Evelyn’s eyes gleamed with anticipation.
*Die.*
*Both of you.*
*Die.*
But Leon just smiled.
