The scene shocked everyone, as suddenly Tang Yin threw her coat aside, the white fabric flying carried by the wind, a cry of fury rose from her mouth, dazzling light blue light enveloping her, and from her back spreading two enormous turquoise dragon wings. Beating, they catapulted her off the cliff, out of everyone's sight.
At that moment, nobody had much time to think of a reason why she did so. Tang San himself had not expected it to happen. He hadn't even known that his fifth spirit ability, alongside the blue silver domain, could bring forth such strength.
As Tang Yin was folding her wings, barreling downwards at full power like a flash, passing by the seventh elder.
The eight spider lances gathered in front of Tang San as he curled up, to defend, spotting his sister, knowing he had to buy these precious few seconds she needed to catch him. Blue silver grass formed a shield in front of him. He noted as Yin swung forward with a wing striking the hammer aimed at him, redirecting it slightly. While Tang San's spirit bone was that of a ten-thousand-year spirit beast, Tang Yin's was superior; the strike of her Wing was powerful, making the air Thunder.
She used the time bought and grabbed Tang San, her wings moving in a single upwards beat, showing air acrobatics few could pull off. As Tang San's hand grabbed her arm, the force of the movement pressed the two of them together, and her wings defended with their combined spirit power.
Meanwhile, the seventh elder saw what happened when Tang San's Blue Silver Overlord Spear arrived.
It was fast, impossibly so. He raised his hammers to defend against the attack, but was unable to dodge. Then he learned why the Spear was so terrifying, with the blue-silver domain to back it up. For just a second, the seventh elder felt cut off from his own spirit abilities, unable to fully use his spirit powers.
If this had been on level ground, it would have meant nothing but midair with the abyss below. He endured it with strength alone, falling towards the ground like a meteor.
At Cliff everyone saw first the twins, and now the seventh elder disappear in the clouds. As a silhouette moved, a shadow shot upwards among the clouds in a straight line.
Blue light illuminated the sky as Tang Yin unfolded her wings, hovering.
Tang Xiao, who had been about to throw himself off the cliff to save the siblings, stilled as he saw Tang San let go of Tang Yin's hand and slowly fly towards the cliff with Blue Silver Emperor's aide coming to a stop on the cliff, panting, a thin line of blood coming from his mouth and pale as a sheet.
Tang Yin, for a second, observed the stunned people before glancing downwards, waiting for the seventh elder, a sword appearing in her hand, blue silver grass glowing on her body as she used both her spirits simultaneously. "Yin!" Tang San shouted, feeling the fury coming from her.
"Tang san you..." Tang Xiao gazed at Tang San, who seemed to be ignoring him, far more worried about his sister. Then the red light that came from Yin stuck downwards. The seventh elder landed on a lower end cliff and was faced with a pressure unlike any he had felt before, as no one dared utter a single sound.
What surprised those who saw what happened even more, there was not a single spirit ring floating around her. Meaning either she had her spirit power so well controlled she could perfectly conceal her spirit rings it or she was using not using a spirit ring emitting such pressure.
"You broke your word." Tang Yin's voice cut through the air as she flew towards the cliff herself. Landing gently next to her brother, with no sound.
Tang Xiao could only watch, dumbstruck, being unable to help himself as he thought of their sight. Hao, you have truly raised two little monsters.
Tang Yin folded her wings before they vanished like a mirage, and there was no longer the small but imposing spirit master standing there, but just a one-armed little girl who looked younger than her years. Despite Yin's interference, there was no longer any doubt who had won this battle as they watched Tang San first calm his sister and then settle down with his legs crossed, starting to cultivate as if no one else was there, with his sister settling next to him.
One of the elders laughed out at that moment. "Old Seven lost." He said, looking towards the second elder. "Second brother, hold him back, please, don't let him be too impulsive."
He had not finished speaking when the seventh elder's silhouette appeared in everyone's line of sight. Even though he had fallen, his powers were still formidable. As soon as he had blocked the attack, he threw himself up the mountain again, swiftly climbing up.
He was panting, his face red. The second and third generations were disciplined and silent as cicadas in winter. At that moment, no one dared say anything to the seventh elder, fearing for a second his famous ill temper.
"Those kids, are they fine? Has someone gone down to help them?" He had not seen a trace of the siblings on his way up, only the vertiges of their defence and his attack in the mountains. Only that ominious energy strtiking. Only hoping someone had moved to help them, and he had not killed them as he saw them up already.
Tang Xiao shook his head. "They came up all on their own."
The seventh elder blanched before speaking. "Impossible. I used my full force spirit avatar, even if they defended together, they would have lost at least a layer of skin, much less come back up here on their own."
The second elder coughed twice, walking over to the seventh elder, grasping his shoulder. "Accept reality. We all saw them fly up from below...on their own. Tang Yin, it seems, has an external spirit bone much like her brother, which gives her the ability to fly."
"But..." The seventh elder seemed as if he wanted to object heavily to Tang Yin's interference.
"Shut up." The second elder quieted him, his expression solemn."You already violated the established rules in your contest against him. It was his sister's right to save him. This match is your loss."
The seventh elder stood there slightly shocked. "I don't believe it." He muttered as the second elder shot a look at the fifth elder, who quickly came forward and grasped his seventh brother's other shoulder. "Let's go, old seven. The result would have been the same no matter who had fought him. That kid is just too outstanding."
"No, I cannot leave." The seventh elder shook his head, his expression turning gloomy.
"Old seven, remember your position." The second elder shot a glare in his direction. "Second brother, if you make a bet and lose, you have to accept it."
The second elder sighed, then nodded and smiled wryly. He turned to Tang Xiao and Tang Yuehua. "Yuehua, please prepare the ceremony for them to accept their ancestors. I know they do not wish to enter the clan; nevertheless, I wish to convey that they will be welcome." Then he turned to the others. "Everyone else, scatter, go cultivate."
The ceremony only required a few elders and the sect master anyway. Moreover, he wanted to talk to Tang San. "You can leave as well, Tang Yin. I will see to it that nothing happens to your brother."
Tang Yin shook her head, refusing to follow his words. "No," she stated. "I see no reason to." His gaze wandered to the seventh elder, who was being slowly brought away by his fifth brother. "Someone also needs to apologise."
Tang Yuehua hastily bowed, redirecting the attention towards herself. "Many Thanks, Elder."
"Don't try to distract Aunt," Yin said, tilting her head upwards. There was fury still boiling inside her. If she had not been asked by her brother to hold back, she would not have let this hand go so easily; in fact, she still wanted something from these people. Her brother had risked his life for it, after all. "I look forward to their apology towards our mother."
The second elder nodded. "It will happen." Then he turned to Tang Xiao. "We have done nothing for him; he came this far on his own, both did. I have never seen a youngerster as outstanding as him...them. I only hope for them not to take the wrong road like their brother, and make better choices instead of throwing away their gifts."
Tang Yin settled next to her brother. In a position that clearly showed she was guarding him, she was listening as Tang Xiao spoke to the elders in a low voice.
"Elders, the School has been sealed for so many years. Isn't it time to lift the prohibition?"
The second elder shook. "Sect Master, what do you mean?"
Tang Xiaos' look turned distant. "Twenty years have passed; it may be time for Clear Sky to step into the spirit master world again. Have your elders not suggested to me many times that we should lift the ban? I think the time for it may have come."
Whenever an elder rose to the Title douluo Rank after many trials and hardships, Tang Xiao would receive a proposal to reopen Clear Sky. He had never agreed, thinking of the younger generations, their sects further. Now, after twenty years of patience, it seemed to Tang Xiao that their strength was now sufficient.
"No." The second Elder shook his head. "I disagree."
"Disagree, wasn't this what you always wanted, second uncle? What did you wish for more than anyone else?"
The second elder's gaze wandered to the siblings. "That was before. We old fellows always hoped to have an opportunity to do something for the calyn, you know. But now that it seems to be doing so, we have to wait a bit longer. Old boneheads like us can stay healthy for a few more years, which is maybe three or four years in comparison to the twenty that have already passed.
As he spoke, he looked straight into Tang Yin's clear, sky-blue eyes.
"Because of little San and little Yin?"
The second elder nodded. "Sect Master. Even though we have accomplished a lot, after 20 years, none of us has that drive we had back then. What the Clan needs is a dauntless pathfinder, someone who can lead the sect into a new age, forge ahead. We are old, ageing. But these children are different." He said.
Yin started laughing, throwing her head back in blatant disrespect. Still, she was listened to as she spoke, "We have no intention of becoming members of Clear Sky School, of Haotien Sect, we only wish to pray to our ancestors. One does not have to include the other. I know that may seem strange to you. But we have come where we are with our own to hand, we founded our own clan, lived all our lives without the backing of some great name." Her voice was clear, her words resonating inside all present, not an ounce of disrespect in it. "We have come this far not to become part of some great name, we did it to be happy, to live, to love and be free to be ourselves."
"I understand." The second elder said, and his gaze moved to Tang San. "Still, you two carry our name and our blood. You are close to the sixtieth rank, both of you; you only need a spirit ring to break through, as far as I understand, surpassing in that field even your brother. I don't know what your powers are, but I have seen his twin spirits, twin innate domains, and several spirit bones. You are gifted. I will not neglect you because we wish to shift the sect opening ahead. You need experience; nurturing, as we are hidden, we can cultivate and provide you with that better. I don't want to see what happened to Tang Hao back then."
Tang Xiao went silent for a moment before asking. “Do you still hold a grudge about what happened with Tang Hao?"
The second elder shook his head. "No. I do not. You remember those three conditions? They are tests for the children. If they can accomplish these three things, it does not matter." His gaze turned to Tang Yin. "You will be considered worthy successors. We old ones will support you, honour does not allow us to look back in. Therefore, I just hope you will agree to my proposal."
Tang Yin felt movement behind her as she saw Tang San's eyes opening. He had not recovered, but he had done some substantial first aid as he looked at the second elder and Tang Xiao before standing up and walking up to his sister, bowing down and placing his temple against hers.
"You fine, sis?" He asked, and she nodded.
"I am."
