At night, Candy had already gone upstairs to sleep, and tomorrow she would be off to school.

The eight-day holiday seemed to have passed in the blink of an eye.

Downstairs, Zhou Yaling saw her brother getting up to go to bed, so she simply turned off the TV.

"Hey, bro, I’ve been thinking all night, and the more I think about it, the more I feel something was off this afternoon. Candy didn’t seem scared at all, where would you find someone who acts normal just after a fright?"

"She’s still a child!"

Mo Jingchun’s mouth twitched. Zhou Yaling only just realized that it’s probably because she got startled by Candy’s fake crying.

"Don’t overthink it, it’s all over now."

"Go upstairs and sleep early. We have to get up early tomorrow."

"Oh, by the way, don’t forget to set the alarm."

Zhou Yaling absentmindedly waved her hand, "I know, I never turn off the alarm; it’s set to skip national holidays."

"That’s good." With that, Mo Jingchun couldn’t help but quicken his pace to head back to his room first.

"So weird." After muttering to herself, Zhou Yaling shook her head and continued climbing to the third floor.

Tomorrow she would face her father’s soul-searching questions, which made her head hurt at the thought.

"Forget it. Early to bed, early to rise. No escaping anyway."

.........

Early the next morning, as dawn broke in the east, Mo Jingchun, with his bodyguards, resumed his daily jogging routine around the villas.

Possibly motivated by them, Mo Jingchun noticed more and more people in the neighborhood started jogging in the morning, mostly old men, almost no young people in sight.

After more than half an hour, Mo Jingchun returned home, dripping with sweat. He glanced at the kitchen, noticing Zhou Yaling hadn’t come down yet; he wasn’t sure if she was awake.

Shaking his head, Mo Jingchun went straight back to his room to take a hot shower.

When Mo Jingchun finished drying his hair and went to call Candy up, Zhou Yaling’s room door was already open.

He glanced in but saw no one.

The next moment, Mo Jingchun pushed open Candy’s bedroom door and found her lying in bed, staring wide-eyed at him.

"Already awake, huh."

"Yeah, have been for a while now."

"Then get up and brush your teeth and wash your face, don’t forget to pack your textbooks and homework into the school bag later."

"I won’t forget."

"Okay, hurry up and get up. I’m going downstairs first."

After Mo Jingchun left, Candy reached into the bed and dragged out the chubby Bun.

"Go play somewhere else; I still need to make the bed."

"Meow~" Bun complained about Candy’s roughness today.

Hearing the sizzling sound from the kitchen, Mo Jingchun walked over to take a look. Seeing what Zhou Yaling was wearing today, he said in surprise, "You went out to play and bought clothes too, eh? I haven’t seen you wear this outfit before."

At his words, Zhou Yaling twirled around with the spatula, smiling, "Looks good, right? I spent over a thousand, felt the pinch for quite a while."

Mo Jingchun reevaluated the outfit worth over a thousand. Initially, he wanted to say it was worth more, but thought better of it.

"It’s alright."

Zhou Yaling didn’t bother to argue, knowing her brother always judged people rather than clothes; otherwise, why would he keep wearing clothes that cost only a few dozen yuan from online shops?

In contrast, all of Candy’s clothes were top-quality goods.

The price of just one of Candy’s shirts was enough for Zhou Yaling to buy a whole new outfit.

"What’s for dinner today?"

"Yangchun noodles."

"Help me crush the garlic."

Hugging her backpack, Candy bounced out of the elevator.

"Zero, good morning."

A bit bored, Zero, who was teasing the fish, turned his head, "Good morning."

After speaking, Zero’s attention returned to the red koi, and as for Little Grey, Zero wanted to tease the dog but Little Grey was too timid; if Zero even got close, Little Grey would shrink back with ears down as if silently complaining about being bullied.

Setting down her backpack, Candy followed the aroma from the kitchen with bounces.

"Sister, I smell Yangchun noodles."

Brushing Candy’s nose, Zhou Yaling smiled, "You’ve got a sharp nose."

At this, Candy raised her eyebrows and blinked, "Sister, it’s Little Grey who’s got the sharp nose."

The bickering began, and Mo Jingchun silently stepped back two paces to give Candy and Zhou Yaling room to spar.

Unexpectedly, the next second Zhou Yaling directly changed the topic.

Just like before, Zhou Yaling twirled around, smiling as she looked at Candy, and asked, "How does sister’s outfit look today?"

Candy lifted her head, scrutinized it from top to bottom, thought for a moment to organize her words, then said cheerfully:

"Hmm... if full marks are ten, I’d give it 8.8."

An 8.8, a solid high score. Zhou Yaling was very satisfied; Candy had good taste.

But Zhou Yaling was curious about what was lacking, so she asked:

"Why only 8.8? Where are the other 1.2 points?"

Candy paused, looked at her sister oddly, swallowed, and then said:

"Sister, didn’t you just say there’s ’a little bit’ missing?"

Zhou Yaling was stunned for several seconds before she realized, and Mo Jingchun had already retreated outside the kitchen, silently closing the sliding kitchen door.

When Candy tried to run, seeing the shut sliding door, she was dumbfounded. Her first reaction was—her brother set her up again.

Surprisingly, Zhou Yaling didn’t scold Candy; instead, she lowered her head to carefully examine her outfit, over and over.

"Ahem, sister, I was just kidding. The outfit looks pretty."

"Really?"

"Yeah." Candy nodded vigorously, propelled by a strong survival instinct. Honestly, the outfit wasn’t that ugly. Besides, her sister didn’t have a boyfriend anyway.

The only regretful thing was that with this outfit, it would be even harder for her sister to find a boyfriend.

Clearly, Zhou Yaling wasn’t giving up; having spent over a thousand on this outfit, it couldn’t be that ugly. After all, when buying it, everyone else thought it looked good.

"Hmph~ Sis is a queen; I’ll wear what I like, regardless of what others think."

Candy’s eyes widened as if meeting her proud sister for the first time.

While Candy was in a daze, a bowl of Yangchun noodles appeared in her hand.

"Help yourself if it’s not enough."

Looking at the full bowl of Yangchun noodles, Candy quickly nodded, saying, "It’s enough, it’s enough."

............

The car had just entered the technology park and hadn’t stopped yet. Zhou Yaling saw the old man come out of the security monitoring room, obviously heading straight for her.

Sitting on the other side, Mo Jingchun also saw his uncle coming out, and couldn’t help but let a slight smile curl at the corner of his mouth.
