After a one-minute apology, when someone coldly changed tables, the person in charge of the garden department looked embarrassed.
Who knew it would be such a coincidence.
Thinking about the email content made the garden department head feel a headache coming on.
He also knew about those trees; they weren’t actually broken by snow but were accidentally knocked down by him while clearing snow from the branches.
Heaven and earth as witness, he really knocked them down by accident.
It was discovered he knocked a few down improperly, so he stopped; otherwise, why were the broken branches all in one place?
"Sigh, next time, better use your mouth instead of doing it yourself."
Elsewhere, Candy, having arrived at school, sat on a chair and took off her shoes, pulled out the furry shoe insoles, and replaced them with warmers that Xiang’Er gave her.
It took quite an effort to perfectly replace the insoles.
After putting her shoes back on, Candy stood up and stepped around.
"So, what do you think?"
Candy jumped up and down again, raised an eyebrow, and said, "A bit hard, not as comfortable as the original insoles."
"Obviously, one is fur, and the other is warmers."
"Try wearing them for one class; you’ll find they’re really warm."
"Okay!" Candy nodded.
The first class was a homeroom session where the teacher repeatedly reminded everyone not to have snowball fights on the playground to avoid unnecessary conflicts with the older students.
The homeroom session was all about not slipping and staying warm.
Candy only took away one point: they couldn’t beat the older students.
Nearing the end of class, with the air conditioning blowing and warmers at her feet, Candy felt so hot she took off her down jacket.
Qu Weijun on the podium glanced and said, "Don’t take off your clothes carelessly, this is the season for colds."
Candy, almost called out, quietly put her jacket back on but didn’t zip it up.
That was her final act of defiance.
Finally, when the class was over and the homeroom teacher had left, Candy, looking downcast, told her deskmate Xiang’Er, "I’m so hot, it feels like my feet are soaking in water."
Xiang’Er laughed and said, "I told you, the warmers are really warm."
Candy nodded approvingly, "I’ll have my brother buy me some tonight."
Just then, Xiang’Er looked out the window.
"The sun’s come out."
Candy turned to look and said in surprise, "It really did."
"It’s probably going to be really cold tomorrow morning."
"Why? Isn’t it sunny now?" Xiang’Er asked, puzzled.
"Hehe, you don’t understand, do you? I heard it from Zero, Zero told me before, it’s colder when the snow melts than when it falls. Something about absorbing and releasing heat, I didn’t really get it either."
"Zero said it? Then it must be right."
Xiang’Er’s response caught Candy off guard, what does that mean, just because Zero said it’s definitely right?
But Candy clearly remembers that Zero is a trickster who can mess up fairy tales.
The girl selling matches and the girl selling nukes could get mixed up.
She wanted to complain a bit but thought better, keeping family matters private, better not to say anything.
Sigh, for this happy family, she has it tough.
No one in the family isn’t tricking her.
The next morning, just stepping out of the house, Candy shivered and tucked in her neck.
She could see her breath, it was freezing.
"Brother, it’s so cold today."
With hands in his pockets, Mo Jingchun smiled and said, "Do like me, with your hands in pockets, it’s not that cold."
"Don’t go out of the classroom unnecessarily when you’re at school, wait till the sun is up, it’ll warm up."
Just then, a cold wind blew, and Mo Jingchun and the others held their breath simultaneously.
"Get in the car quick, it’s too cold and windy, how can anyone survive like this."
Watching the older ones run to the car, Zero, coming last, proudly took off his down jacket and carried it over his shoulder.
After shutting the car door, Zero looked at the foot-stomping Candy with a laugh and said, "Cold? I’m not cold at all."
Candy grinned, refusing to back down, "Can we be the same?"
"You dress to look good, not to keep warm."
............
In the blink of an eye, it was the end of December, and the weather in the south was erratic, last time it snowed, it was minus seven or eight degrees, and in recent days, it had warmed back up to twenty-one degrees.
The temperature change like riding a train has made southerners struggle with what to wear every day.
Cold in the morning and evening, but hot during the day, especially for outdoor workers, after the sun is up, wearing cotton clothes becomes unbearable.
On December 31st, it coincided with the New Year holiday for primary and secondary schools.
Early in the morning, as soon as Mo Jingchun got up, Candy enthusiastically climbed out of bed too.
Today’s the day for the rocket launch; whenever she thought about that huge thing flying to the sky, Candy couldn’t help being full of anticipation.
And Zero said, not too long now, people could be taken to the sky.
Thud, thud, thud~
"Sister, are you up? Get up fast, we’re going to see the rocket launch today."
A sleepy Zhou Yaling yawned and said helplessly, "I know, I’ll get up in a while."
Seeing the alarm clock still had half an hour to go, Zhou Yaling numbly turned it off.
Laughably, the alarm wasn’t needed at all.
When Mo Jingchun returned from running, he glanced at Candy on the sofa, not in the least surprised.
Just now, Zero had told him, as soon as he went out running, Candy had gotten out of bed by herself.
The enthusiasm for getting up rivaled when she used to go to kindergarten.
"Brother, sister hasn’t gotten up yet."
Zhou Yaling, coming out of the elevator combing her hair, refuted:
"Who says?"
"I... oh, sister, you’re up."
Zhou Yaling rolled her eyes, "You woke me up, how could I not get up."
"You guys keep bickering, I’m going upstairs for a bath."
Saying that, Mo Jingchun left directly, leaving the two sisters eyeing each other in the living room.
Since the rocket launch was scheduled for three in the afternoon, Mo Jingchun wasn’t in a hurry to head to Anyang Base.
Going too early wouldn’t accomplish anything.
The prep work had special personnel, the whole launch process was under Zero’s command, his visit was more for the fun, and to help Candy broaden her horizons.
After breakfast, under Candy’s repeated urging, they finally closed the door and headed towards Anyang County.
On the way, Candy once again transformed into a chatterbox, bombarding Zero with all sorts of strange questions.
Why can rockets fly, now that’s a good question.
Fortunately, Zero was an encyclopedia, could professionally answer Candy’s questions and curiosities.
After Zero’s lengthy explanation, Candy finally said, "Zero, you’ve been muttering for ages, and I didn’t understand a word."
