The Anomaly Beyond The System

Chapter 205: Are you from the Association?

Lucian asked Seraphina whether she truly wanted to hide her face, since even though he understood her concerns... he didn’t want her to live in fear simply because of the possibility of Damien finding out about her.

However...

For some reason, Seraphina remained surprisingly adamant about hiding her face, and hearing the certainty in her voice, Lucian could only let out a small sigh before finally relenting.

And he couldn’t even deny the fact that she looked genuinely cool and beautiful.

The black outfit, the hooded cloak, and the faceless mask somehow suited her astonishingly well.

Perhaps she even looked cooler than him, since he was simply wearing a white shirt and black trousers, with a neatly fitted black blazer over them—though the quality of the fabric naturally gave him a noble appearance.

Still...

There was one obvious flaw in Seraphina’s plan.

She had already shown her face to a few people when they had entered the Association building, especially the receptionist.

Seraphina already knew that, and a faint trace of worry slowly appeared on her face.

"...Right." She quietly lowered her gaze.

The uneasiness she had only just managed to suppress resurfaced.

But seeing her expression, Lucian gently smiled.

"Don’t worry. If you really want to keep your identity hidden... I’ll take care of it."

Seraphina didn’t really understand how he planned to solve the problem, but having complete faith in her son, she simply nodded.

But then, she looked directly into his eyes, and a faint smile appeared on her lips.

"Just don’t kill them."

Lucian’s lips twitched, wanting to complain that he wasn’t some monster who would simply kill people without any reason.

Just what kind of image did she have of him?

And by the way...

He hadn’t even killed a single person yet!

Of course, Seraphina was only half-serious, though there was still a part of her that was genuinely worried that her son might no longer care about human lives after turning into a fully-fledged noble vampire.

Although, looking at him now...

She hoped she was simply worrying too much.

Lucian let out a helpless sigh, slowly shaking his head in exasperation.

As soon as he heard that Seraphina intended to keep her identity hidden... a plan gradually began taking shape inside Lucian’s mind, and he even felt that it was a good thing she wasn’t revealing herself.

Because if his plan succeeded, then...

’Hehe... my dear father... I sincerely hope you welcome us with open arms.’ A wicked smile slowly crept onto his face before instantly disappearing.

Some time later, after making sure everything was ready, Lucian and Seraphina finally stepped out of the hotel together.

The receptionist was slightly surprised by the unknown masked woman, but after seeing her standing beside Lucian... he quickly guessed who she was.

Of course...

How could he forget their faces?

There were barely any people as attractive as them who came to this hotel, and they certainly weren’t someone he could forget so easily.

Although he couldn’t understand why the woman was suddenly wearing such unusual clothing...

He wisely chose not to ask, since something inside him told him that they weren’t people he should get involved with.

Passing through the lobby, they silently stepped outside.

The warm morning sunlight immediately greeted them, the gentle breeze carrying the fresh scent of the city along with the faint dust that had settled due to the apocalypse.

After briefly looking around, both of them began walking through the morning streets.

It had been a long while since they had simply walked through the streets together like this.

Especially... after everything that had happened.

Since there was still plenty of time before the Association’s vehicle arrived, Lucian decided not to laze around inside his room, and instead...

He quietly walked beside Seraphina.

There wasn’t really any particular destination, and they simply wandered through the morning streets together.

Lucian clearly remembered how they had barely been able to leave the house together in the past, and as they strolled side by side... he found himself wanting to cherish even this simple moment.

Seraphina naturally had no idea what was going through his mind, though she felt a little happy as she walked beside him, the gentle morning sunlight bathing over them while their footsteps softly and rhythmically echoed against the solid road.

Her lips curled into a faint smile beneath her mask.

Though...

The curious stares from the people around them quickly became noticeable to both Lucian and Seraphina.

Her masked appearance naturally drew attention, yet... no one dared approach, seemingly mistaking her for someone important and powerful.

Lucian quietly observed the surroundings from behind his dark sunglasses, taking in the tall buildings before his gaze gradually drifted toward Seraphina.

A soft smile slowly appeared on his face.

Despite not being able to see her face, he could somehow tell that she was happy, making him glad that he had decided to come out.

Little did he know...

Seraphina wasn’t really enjoying the walk because of the streets, but because she was walking alongside her son.

After wandering around for quite some time... the two of them eventually made their way back toward the hotel, and the moment they arrived...

Lucian’s attention shifted toward the long white luxury car parked directly outside the hotel entrance.

Several uniformed guards stood nearby.

Alongside them...

A man dressed neatly in a white suit quietly waited beside the vehicle.

Many civilians glanced at the vehicle, curious about who could be important enough to have these people waiting outside like this—especially considering the emblem on the front of the car, unmistakably belonging to the Awakened Association.

"Who’s arriving?"

"Must be some celebrity?"

"Perhaps a high-ranker?"

Their voices gradually grew more curious, anticipation filling the air—especially at the thought of seeing a high-ranker in person.

The moment Lucian and Seraphina stepped into view...

The man in the white suit immediately shifted his gaze toward them.

His eyes lingered briefly on the masked woman before settling on Lucian.

The two of them walked directly toward him.

"Are you from the Association?" Lucian asked directly.

The man politely inclined his head.

"And you are...?"

"Lucian, the one who came to register yesterday."

Hearing the reply, a look of recognition appeared on the man’s face, and his eyes faintly lit up.

"Ah... yes. We’ve come to escort you."

He respectfully gestured toward the white vehicle waiting behind him, before one of the guards stepped forward and opened the rear door, prompting them to enter.

The man in the white suit entered first.

Lucian observed the guards, then the vehicle, then the man once again.

Although the luxurious treatment wasn’t unpleasant, something about it felt strange... almost too grand for someone ordinary like him.

There wasn’t even anything especially remarkable about him... riiiight? So why were they making such a fuss?

He didn’t understand.

He briefly glanced toward Seraphina, and after giving her a small nod...

Lucian finally stepped into the vehicle, while Seraphina silently followed close behind him.
