[Fu~ Fu~ Fu~]
’This fucking—’
[Oi, no cursing towards me. Now you know what I can do, right?]
There was a strange cheekiness and arrogance in Akasha’s voice now, almost as though she were deliberately rubbing it in his face.
Lucian’s brows twitched, and he could practically imagine the smug expression on her face... if she even had one.
Meanwhile—
"324 Mana Units."
The Director spoke as he stared at the number displayed upon the metallic pedestal, a faint trace of surprise appearing in his voice before his gaze shifted toward Seraphina once again.
"What does that mean?" she asked quietly, not understanding the implication of the number.
"It tells us the amount of mana contained within your body. We measure it numerically through Mana Units."
Cedric briefly gestured toward the displayed number.
"Generally, 300 MU is considered around the starting point for an E Rank Awakened."
"E Rank..." Seraphina quietly repeated, hearing these terms and MU for the first time.
"You are an F Ranker, correct?" Cedric asked.
Seraphina quietly nodded.
"Hm..."
Cedric stroked his bearded chin for a moment before a faint smile appeared on his face.
"You have more mana than most people of the same rank as you."
Seraphina nodded once again.
She understood what he meant.
She was mildly different from the average F Rank Awakened. More unique than many others... perhaps, since she wasn’t exactly sure.
Thinking about being unique—
Almost instinctively, her gaze shifted toward Lucian, who was standing a few steps behind her.
His expression was strangely blank, or rather... slightly twisted.
’What happened?’
Seraphina stared at him for a moment, slightly confused by his lack of reaction.
Shaking her head, she turned her attention forward once again, noticing that Cedric had already moved toward another artifact.
"This will be used to measure your bloodline and determine its rarity."
Before her was a circular silver disk, approximately 25 centimetres wide.
At its centre rested a small crimson gemstone, smooth and polished, with a thin golden needle extending from the middle of the gemstone.
Surrounding the gemstone were several concentric rings, each engraved with symbols representing different bloodline rarities.
[Bloodline Compass]
Rank: B Rank
Rarity: Uncommon
Description:
A mana artifact created by renowned mana scientists and the Witch of Curiosity. It identifies a person’s bloodline name and measures the rarity of their bloodline.
[Note: Despite being accurate when determining bloodline rarity, it is only capable of registering human bloodline names.]

[So it won’t be able to give away the name of your bloodline.] Akasha’s voice echoed inside his head the moment the screen panel appeared before him.
[That’s good, isn’t it?]
Lucian’s fingers twitched violently, and for a brief moment, he almost had the urge to reach inside his own mind and spank some sense into the woman.
[Why are you getting sooo mad? Is it because I can now control your strength...?]
’...’
His lack of response was answer enough, and Akasha knew it.
And Lucian knew that she knew it as well.
His main bloodlines were already too proud, too arrogant, and that had made him the same, causing him to feel repulsed by the feeling of being controlled...
By anyone.
No matter who they were.
Especially when it concerned something as important as his own strength.
Even though the skill was supposed to help him conceal his true strength, knowing that Akasha could interfere with it was enough to make him feel uncomfortable.
Not because she would actually use it against him... but because she could.
After a brief silence...
’Just... don’t use it without my permission.’
Lucian finally spoke.
Akasha was slightly surprised by his words, since she hadn’t expected him to accept it so easily, especially after the reaction he had shown.
[So you finally trus—]
’If you try anything funny, Akasha, I’m telling you... I swear I’ll pull you out of my body, brain, whatever and make sure you tremble before me.’
His voice suddenly grew cold, and his words barely contained the fury beneath them, sending a sudden chill through her.
For a moment, there was silence.
But then...
Akasha’s mind suddenly seemed to get stuck on something within his words.
[Make me tremble?]
She suddenly asked, and Lucian couldn’t help but feel something strange in her voice, a subtle shift in her tone.
[And just how are you planning to do that...?]
Her voice grew lower, more teasing... or perhaps... flirtatious?
Lucian’s heartbeat quickened slightly as her softly whispered voice rang inside his head, but before he could even try to make sense of the sudden change in her tone—
"Bloodline Name... Winter’s Grace, and rarity..."
Cedric’s voice suddenly brought his attention back.
Lucian’s eyes shifted toward him.
"...Rare."
Silence fell inside the chamber, and even Leonardo’s brows rose slightly upon hearing the result.
"Is that rare too?" Seraphina asked in confusion, but then, realising how her words sounded, she immediately corrected herself.
"I mean, is it unique?"
Cedric nodded.
"It is. Bloodlines are classified into rarities, going from Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic... and lastly, Legendary."
As he explained the classifications, Seraphina listened quietly.
"There isn’t anything above that?" Lucian asked, momentarily ignoring his banter with his system.
Cedric paused, seemingly thinking about the question.
To be honest, he had a hunch that there was more, since there was always something above what people usually thought...
However, he wasn’t exactly sure how to give a proper answer.
So, in the end, he simply shook his head without saying anything in return.
Moving onward—
"F Rank... Ice Affinity, something that is really rare among folks, and then..."
Cedric paused briefly.
"A Rank talent."
A faint smile appeared across his slightly wrinkled face.
"You are full of surprises, young lady."
Cedric spoke with genuine admiration, clearly impressed by the results.
This woman was weak for now, but with her talent, along with everything else he had gathered from the test, he was sure her name would become known very soon.
Yet instead of showing any enthusiasm or excitement over those words, Seraphina simply remained silent.
She gave a small nod before stepping back beside Lucian, as though she hadn’t done anything particularly special.
There was no pride in her expression, because... she didn’t particularly care much about them.
"Young people nowadays don’t know how precious they are," Cedric muttered to himself, shaking his head.
"Gra—Director, please don’t speak like that among the awakened," Leonardo said, seeing him talking like a neighbourhood uncle.
Cedric looked at his grandson—ahem, his assistant—before shaking his head again.
’Young people... sigh.’
