The Art of Chaotic Divinity

Chapter 1764: The Might of the Ancestor-Dragon

The dragon's might descend like an overwhelming tide. Before the rise of humanity, during the even more ancient Age of Dragons, the dragon clan had ruled the world.

Cold sweat instantly poured from Ling Feng's forehead, soaking his robes in moments. He clenched his teeth tightly. No matter what, he could not give up on these final nine steps.

No wonder the Great Desolation Sword Saint had said that inheriting his legacy would not be easy. No wonder no one had succeeded in obtaining it over the past tens of thousands of years.

This was the might of a dragon. Not just any dragon, but one from the ancient dragon clan. How could an ordinary mortal possibly withstand such power? Even the so-called divine race might not be able to resist it.

Yet Ling Feng was an exception. The Child of the Heavenly Dao belonged to a race that had risen after the Age of Dragons, becoming the supreme rulers of the Immortal Domain in a new era. It was a race of beings powerful enough to stand alongside the Ancestor-Dragons themselves.

Although Ling Feng's Emperor's bloodline was still far from reaching its full potential, the Ancestor-Dragon bloodline inherited by the Great Desolation Sword Saint had also been exceedingly diluted. At most, the two were evenly matched.

"So what if it's the might of an ancient dragon?" Ling Feng said.

A brilliant light burst from Ling Feng's eyes and the Eye of the Emperor activated on its own. Divine inscriptions emerged within his pupils.

An indescribably terrifying aura erupted from his body, making him seem like a supreme ruler standing above all creation.

Boom!

His left foot landed heavily. At last, he crossed the ninety-first step. Then the ninety-second. Then the ninety-third.

He continued climbing, one step after another. With every step, lifting his foot became slower. Placing it down became even harder.

By the time he reached the ninety-sixth step, it took him dozens of breaths just to raise one foot and setting it down required even longer. Whenever his foot landed, it left behind a faint crimson footprint upon the golden stair.

It was sweat mixed with blood.

Under the terrifying pressure of the ancient dragon's might, even his sweat had become stained with blood.

Even so, Ling Feng's back remained perfectly straight from beginning to end. Not even the might of a dragon could force the Heavenly Dao Clan to bow its proud spine.

Ninety-five.

***

Ninety-nine.

Ling Feng's body swayed violently as he barely managed to steady himself upon the final step of the Ascending Dragon Stairway. The relentless dragon's might had drained him completely. His strength had been squeezed dry. His body felt strangely weightless.

For a fleeting moment, it was as though his soul had separated from his body. He could no longer even feel his own flesh.

Ling Feng knew this was precisely when he had to remain steady. If he faltered now, all his efforts would be wasted.

Xiao Juanyun could not help shivering as he muttered, "That monster..."

On his very first attempt, Ling Feng had reached the ninety-ninth step and accomplished what no one else had managed in tens of thousands of years.

"He's already at the ninety-ninth step. Just one more and he'll reach the summit."

Luo Hanzhou's eyes blazed with excitement.

Just as I expected from the man I admire.

Once they left the Sunset Ancient City, he would head straight for the Dongling Region without stopping.

As Xiao Juanyun and the others watched from below, an enormous figure appeared within Ling Feng's spiritual world.

Its colossal body stretched across the heavens.

Unlike ordinary dragons, it possessed only a single enormous vertical eye upon its forehead. That lone eye radiated an indescribable divine light.

It seemed capable of seeing through the entire universe. Nothing beneath heaven and earth could escape its gaze.

It was the Great Desolation Domain Dragon!

Ling Feng was overwhelmed with shock.

The dragon's phantom coiling above his sea of mind was none other than one of the legendary Ten Great Ancestor-Dragons.

This was the Great Desolation Domain Dragon. Its dragon's might poured down like a torrential storm, nearly shattering Ling Feng's entire spiritual world. The pressure from the previous nine steps had been nothing more than a trace of an Ancestor-Dragon's aura.

He felt as though he was facing a true Ancestor-Dragon in person.

The colossal dragon filled every corner of Ling Feng's spiritual world and said in a calm voice, "Insignificant human insect. Do you truly believe someone like you can withstand my supreme dragon's might?"

Its voice was calm, but the instant it spoke, Ling Feng's entire sea of mind nearly exploded. Blood burst from all seven of Ling Feng's facial orifices.

Golden light flickered wildly across his body, growing bright one moment and dim the next, as though he were on the verge of exploding.

The voice continued, "You may have ruled the world once, but don't forget that the era of the dragon clan ended long ago!"

Within his spiritual world, Ling Feng's soul incarnation glared fiercely at the colossal dragon. His voice rang out like thunder. "Slash!"

Boom!

His entire spiritual world shook violently. A longsword identical to the Eradicator of Realms appeared in his hand. Without any sword technique or fancy movement, he simply swung it down with absolute resolve.

Who cares if you are a primordial divine beast? Who cares if you are one of the Ten Great Ancestor-Dragons? You died long ago. This is my spiritual world. What gives you the right to act so arrogant here?

In an instant, the sword light erupted with dazzling brilliance. Like a bolt of lightning splitting the heavens, it slashed toward the Great Desolation Domain Dragon.

Boom!

The Shadow of the Great Desolation Domain Dragon vanished from his mind.

At the same moment, Ling Feng finally took the last step. Below the staircase, Xiao Juanyun, Luo Hanzhou, and Yi Ming all stared with wide eyes. No matter how unwilling Yi Ming was to accept it, he had no choice but to admit defeat.

***

Ling Feng drew a deep breath and stood firmly in place.

He swallowed several medicinal pills to restore his strength.

Within the span of ten breaths, he had already adjusted himself back to peak condition.
