The Old Gang Leader stood up, looked at Chu Ge with confusion, and asked, "What’s happening to me? Why does my body feel so heavy?"
It’s as if I’ve been in a fight with someone.
Chu Ge coughed lightly and said, "Do you remember what you just said?"
The Old Gang Leader wondered, "What did I say? Weren’t we just looking for the volcano?"
He glanced around; it was now mid-afternoon, around three or four o’clock. Although the sun was still up, the temperature was much better than it was at noon.
He raised his hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead, "Ah, I’m really getting old. We’ve only been walking for a bit, and I’m already exhausted."
Chu Ge saw that the Old Gang Leader didn’t remember what he said earlier, and pondered for a moment, "Old Gang Leader, you think the discomfort isn’t due to exhaustion."
"Ah? It’s not from being tired?" Then what is it?
"Do you remember your ear being burned by a fireball?" Chu Ge told him, "It should be that Wei Yongxiang tampered with the convex lens, causing you to lose your mind."
The Old Gang Leader quickly covered his mouth, nervously looking at Chu Ge. He whispered, scared, "I lost my mind?"
Chu Ge nodded.
"I didn’t say anything I shouldn’t have, did I?" The Old Gang Leader seemed to know what losing one’s mind would be like; he nervously asked Chu Ge.
Chu Ge gently shook his head, "You didn’t say anything particularly inappropriate."
The Old Gang Leader let out a sigh of relief, "That’s good, that’s good. As you said, I now remember seeing Wei Yongxiang use such a shady technique on someone else ten years ago. That person lost his mind and revealed his worst side, saying many disrespectful things, and ultimately died due to his foolish recklessness!"
He patted his chest and sighed deeply, "Chu Ge, thank you. If you hadn’t saved me in time, I might have..."
He didn’t finish his sentence, but as he hadn’t said anything inappropriate, he felt relieved.
Chu Ge coughed again, holding back a laugh, and said lightly, "Indeed, you didn’t say anything overly inappropriate; you just said a few things about not caring for the Emperor, and even cursed out the Prince."
The Old Gang Leader’s expression changed immediately, from white to black, then from black to green, and finally looked at Chu Ge with fear, whispering, "Did I really say that?"
Chu Ge nodded, "It’s a pity that the technology here is too backward, otherwise I could have recorded it for you all to hear."
"Recorded it?" The Old Gang Leader didn’t understand, but it wasn’t the time to nitpick. He calmed himself, stood up, and brushed the dust off his body, "It seems Wei Yongxiang had some hidden tricks."
"We need to handle things carefully moving forward," Chu Ge agreed and nodded, "Who knows what awaits us ahead."
"Let’s keep going up the mountain, otherwise it’ll be dark by the time we return. I’m really worried that Miss Feng Luo won’t hold on."
The military camp was as usual, except for Feng Luo’s tent.
She sat at the table, bored, resting her chin on her hand, looking at the sky outside, her gaze penetrating.
Chu Ge and the Old Gang Leader had been out all day. Before they left, they told her to cover for them. Even though the day was uneventful, she was curious about where they went and what they were doing.
She rested her chin on her hand, feeling irritable. She had a strong Eight Diagrams curiosity, and it was maddening not to know what they were up to or where they went.
"Chu Ge, Old Gang Leader, if you don’t tell me where you went when you return, I’ll surely have your skins!"
Feng Luo angrily slammed the table, standing up with indignation.
"Whose skin are you going to have?"
Suddenly, a deep voice came from outside.
Feng Luo’s heart skipped a beat, what she feared had arrived.
Prince He Shuo walked in wearing armor, looking at Feng Luo with a smile, yet his eyes didn’t show any warmth.
Feng Luo touched her nose, smiled awkwardly, "Oh, nothing, I was just practicing opera!"
"Practicing opera?" Prince He Shuo raised his eyebrows, showing slight surprise, "You know how to sing opera?"
Prince He Shuo’s eyes showed obvious disbelief.
Feng Luo pursed her lips; even she didn’t believe her own words! "Yes, the military camp is too boring, so I have to find something fun to do."
She spoke casually, but her gaze occasionally drifted outside.
Muttering in her heart, if they don’t come back soon, the cover would be blown.
"Why haven’t I seen the Old Gang Leader and Chu Ge?" Prince He Shuo scanned the tent and then asked.
Feng Luo snorted, deliberately not looking at him, "How would I know what happened to them? Why are you here looking for them?"
"I went to their tent, didn’t see them, so I came here to check. Do you really not know where they went?" Prince He Shuo’s gaze fixed on Feng Luo.
Feng Luo shook her head, "I don’t know, probably went to gather herbs. I see your Imperial Physicians aren’t very effective, even the medicinal materials are running low, and they haven’t stocked up. What if there’s a battle?"
Prince He Shuo’s face darkened, "Are you intentionally changing the subject?"
"What’s intentionally changing the subject? I’m stating facts; they likely went to gather herbs."
"Likely?" Prince He Shuo raised his eyebrows, "Are you certain?"
Feng Luo felt the Prince was acting strangely today, somewhat helplessly said, "I honestly don’t know where they went, I’m waiting for them too. I just guessed they went to gather herbs, heard them mention this morning the herb supply was low, needed stocking."
Prince He Shuo sat at the table, placing one hand on it to support himself, the other resting on his thigh, "If that’s the case, I’ll sit here and wait with you then."
"What!" Feng Luo was shocked; she’d rather wait alone than with him! Bored by herself, but even more so with the Prince!
Prince He Shuo’s face showed displeasure, "What, you don’t want to?"
Of course not!
But Feng Luo dared not say those words aloud; she smiled awkwardly, "Prince, you’re so busy with everything, why not go ahead, when the Old Gang Leader and Chu Ge return, I’ll tell them to pay their respects to you."
"No need, Miss Feng Luo said she was bored, and I feel a bit weary myself; companionship would be good."
Feng Luo’s lips twitched; if anyone else said this, she might believe it, but Prince He Shuo? Only a ghost would."
