The Blade-Wielding Legend

Chapter 1757 - 885: The Turning Point Has Arrived (Part 2)

The scout team had already drawn their bows, the cold arrowheads shimmering in the snowstorm, aimed at Li Yan.

Li Yan stopped in his tracks, took a deep breath, and said loudly, "Great Xuan, Li Yan! Requesting reinforcement from White Tiger Gully!"

Though his voice was somewhat hoarse due to injuries and the cold, it was clearly transmitted.

"Li Yan?" The scout captain had obviously heard of this name, his tone slightly less wary, but he remained on guard. He rode forward a few steps, scrutinizing carefully under the snow’s light.

Upon seeing Li Yan clearly and confirming his identity, the captain suddenly waved his hand, "It’s Mr. Li!"

"Quick! Quickly mount the horse!"

The scouts moved swiftly, with two of them quickly dismounting to give their horses to Li Yan.

The captain hastily handed over some warm wine, "Mr. Li, the main camp is just ahead! The Marshal and the lords are almost going mad waiting for news!"

Li Yan mounted a warhorse, riding with a scout, protected at the center of the team.

The horse’s hooves kicked up a cloud of snow dust, racing swiftly towards the direction of the main camp.

The wind and snow were left behind, and in the distance, the vast encampment, with lights ablaze, loomed into view like a giant beast hibernating on the snowy plain.

The scout captain held the order flag, passing unimpeded through several layers of post gates.

The sound of horse hooves stopped in front of the barrack gate, where a military officer, informed of the urgent report, was waiting outside the Marshal’s tent.

"Young Hero Li! Quickly! The Marshal requests your presence!" exclaimed a burly man in advanced officer armor, quickly scanning Li Yan from head to toe. Seeing him disheveled and weak but still sharp-eyed, he was somewhat relieved.

Li Yan nodded, took a deep breath, straightened his back, and strode into the warm yet tense atmosphere of the Marshal’s tent.

Inside the Marshal’s tent, lights were blazing and the brazier was burning fiercely.

At the center seat, an old man in a purple robe and jade belt, his visage steadfast and imposing without anger, sat solemnly; he was the Grand Marshal of Anti-Japanese sent by the court this time.

On either side of him stood several generals with condensed auras and remarkable armor, each with a face full of anxiety.

However, when Li Yan’s eyes swept past the Marshal’s side, a spark of joy erupted in his weary eyes.

A Daoist in a simple gray robe, with his hair tied up with a single wooden pin, was sitting quietly there. His face was lean, eyes half-open, and his aura was as deep and tranquil as an ancient well. He was perfectly harmonious with the tense and murderous military air in the tent, yet seemed like the Sea Stabilizing Needle of the entire space.

Wudang Sect Leader, Yu Chan-Zi!

Unexpectedly, he too had come.

His mastery of Daoist skills, combined with his pinnacle Wudang Internal Boxing and Sword, made his combat power formidable, no less than the "Ten Grandmasters"; perhaps even stronger with various spells!

His presence undoubtedly injected a shot of irreplaceable adrenaline into the desperate front lines!

"Greetings to the Marshal! Greetings to Senior Yu Chan!" Li Yan held back his excitement and saluted with cupped fists.

"No need for formalities! Quickly tell me, how are General Gao and the soldiers?" The Marshal’s voice was urgent, his body slightly leaning forward.

Li Yan steadied himself, concisely recounting the bloody battle at White Tiger Gully, the setting of the Fu Xi Eight Diagrams Formation, his own breakthrough for help, and the vital situation of being pursued and attacked by the incarnation of the Plague God during the journey.

The tent fell silent, save for the crackling of the brazier.

The faces of the Marshal and the generals turned ashen. Though mentally prepared for the difficulties on the front lines, hearing such a dire predicament still weighed heavily on their hearts.

When Li Yan finished speaking, all gazes involuntarily turned to Yu Chan-Zi.

Yu Chan-Zi slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze was not sharp but profoundly penetrative, as if it could pierce through the heart.

He looked at Li Yan, nodded slightly, then spoke, "The power of the Evil God, relying on earth veins’ grievances and life soul blood meals, gathers and forms, its ferocity is beyond mortal opposition."

His voice was calm and soothing, yet had an unusual penetrating power that instantly calmed the anxious atmosphere in the tent.

Looking at everyone, he continued, "However, with the Heavenly Dao’s cycle, Yin and Yang counteract each other. Since they are not rootless trees, there is a method to follow and a gap to exploit."

These words uplifted not only the Marshal and others but also left Li Yan attentive.

This Taoist authority’s insights often hit the core.

Yu Chan-Zi stood up and said to the Marshal, "Marshal, time is of the essence, please come with me."

The Marshal immediately got up, "True Man, please!"

The group left the Marshal’s tent, under Yu Chan-Zi’s guidance, not heading towards the area storing military supplies or the magic platform of the Mystic Sect, but rather a site heavily guarded by troops and tightly covered with a large oilcloth behind the barracks.

Around the site, complex vermillion runes faintly flickered on the ground, indicating the presence of a powerful restriction in place.

The guarding soldiers saluted solemnly and swiftly uncovered a corner of the oilcloth.

As the oilcloth slowly fell away, an immense Divine Statue appeared!

The statue was nearly three zhang tall, not designed in the traditional Taoist or Buddhist styles of compassion or majesty.

It was clad in bizarre armor seemingly made of countless intricate gears and rivets, holding a giant "firearm" of peculiar design in its left hand, with its right hand holding a slowly rotating, steam-emitting complex metal wheel.

Its visage was steadfast, its gaze piercing, staring straight ahead, exuding a unique divine aura.

More astonishing was the statue being surrounded by a vast aura of Incense Fire Wish Power!

"Sui Lun True Monarch!" Li Yan exclaimed, his eyes filled with disbelief.

This was the Mortal God of the Great Xuan Dynasty, consecrated by the court amidst the "Great Transformation" wave, representing the era of firearms and steam power!

Its Divine Temples were already spread across all provinces, with incense flourishing.

But never did they expect that the court would transport this golden statue of the deity representing the new order, thousands of miles to the front lines of Goryeo!

Moreover, in this foreign battlefield far from the Divine State, the statue could gather such rich Incense Fire Divine Power?

Even other marshals and generals were quite surprised.

They knew of its transportation from the Capital, but only now did they know what it was.

Yu Chan-Zi stood beneath the enormous statue, gazing up at the steam-emitting metal wheel, his face showing a trace of complex sigh:

"Young friend Li Yan, you must know, outside the Divine State, especially in Goryeo enveloped by the ’Yin Yang Inversion Array’, the power of our True Gods of the Divine State, isolated by the laws of heaven and foreign beliefs, is hard to reach. Mystic Sect techniques here are like rootless duckweed, greatly reduced in power."

"However, Sui Lun True Monarch is different."

Yu Chan-Zi’s gaze deepened, "He is born of the times, not an Ancient God, but a ’New God’ forged by the shared beliefs of the people and the will of the court during this era of great change."

"The power of ’firearms’ and ’steam’ he represents is no longer confined to a part of the Divine State."

He raised his hand towards the statue, "Such artifacts, their designs, their principles, even their very creation, have long seeped into Japan, the South Seas, and even further Western Barbarian lands through merchants, envoys, and battlefield captures, like water."

"Wherever people use it, belief is born. Those who know of it, use it, fear it, or aspire to it, wherever they are, their thoughts provide incense to this Divine!"

Yu Chan-Zi turned his head, his gaze blazing as he looked at Li Yan, "He is the ’Destroyer’ of traditional Divine Path rules, as well as the ’Reshaper’ of new rules!"

"This, is the ’method’ and ’instrument’ to break the predicament of the Evil God!"

Li Yan felt like he was struck by lightning, suddenly enlightened!

The fog of the past was completely dispelled.

No wonder, when Sui Lun True Monarch was first born, it sparked intense debate within the Mystic Sect, and attracted the covetousness of various hidden forces such as "Jianmu" by any means necessary!

The power it represents breaks the shackles of traditional Divine Path on territory and established beliefs, anchoring the foundation of divine authority unprecedentedly on "change" and "dissemination"!

In this Goryeo, far from the Chinese motherland and shrouded in Evil Technique, this New God had become the greatest reliance of the Great Xuan Army against foreign evil spirits!

"Hahaha..."

Marshal Bai Hu immediately stroked his beard and laughed heartily, "No wonder, His Majesty wanted this old man to make a military pledge. With this thing assisting us, why fear those evil spirits, let’s set off!"

"No rush."

Yu Chan-Zi’s face remained calm as he looked at everyone.

"This thing is not prepared for those people..."
