The Boys: Viltrumite Bloodline Panel

Chapter 112: Emperor Armor, Emperor Viltrumite

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.

The next day.

Soldier Boy’s entire demeanor and spirit felt completely different to people.

He put on the new battle suit prepared by Ashley and actively cooperated with the public relations work.

The old popsicle had strong professional competence; after all, he was a veteran artist who had filmed many commercials, promotional videos, and movies in the past, except his old habits were still a bit heavy.

He loved to nitpick the script.

When he got anxious, he would still huff and puff a couple of times.

The only thing that was still a bit awkward was his relationship with Homelander.

Clara could no longer act as a lubricant; this woman was facing trial in court, and if things went poorly, she might even end up in prison.

In the past, she could pull strings and grease palms to escape the judgment of the law.

But now, she could only choose to go to Vought’s private prison, or take a trip to the Sun, and it was anyone’s guess whether she could come back.

Still, at least she was alive.

The easing of the relationship between Homelander and Soldier Boy appeared on a certain morning.

On this day, Homelander stepped into the elevator right on time. Just as the elevator doors were about to close, a hand reached in and pushed the doors back open.

It was Soldier Boy.

The two of them stood, one on the left and one on the right, with an invisible 38th parallel separating them in the middle.

Neither looked at the other.

The elevator was so quiet that they could hear each other’s breathing.

Both were Supes, and their five senses were extremely sharp.

Homelander calculated in his heart how to break the stalemate.

His underlying code was a lack of love in his heart; no matter how he was treated, Soldier Boy was still his father.

That point definitely could not be changed.

But when the words reached his lips, he felt it was too deliberate, fearing he would be suppressed by the old father’s thunderous language again.

"Flyers like you actually take the elevator obediently?" Soldier Boy suddenly spoke up, actively breaking the stalemate.

He stared at the floor numbers on the elevator, his tone very casual, just like idle chatting.

Homelander was stunned.

Soldier Boy took the initiative to talk to him?

Homelander trembled with excitement, his mouth quivering, as an indescribable excitement exploded in his chest.

He put his hands behind his back, forcibly suppressing the excitement in his mind. "Under non-ordinary circumstances, I won’t use my superpowers."

"Just like The Guardian, who usually doesn’t step out of the door, and only displays thunderous methods at critical moments!"

Soldier Boy glanced at him and nodded.

"Mn! If you learn from The Guardian, at least you won’t turn out too badly."

This was the first time Soldier Boy showed approval.

"Although The Guardian’s mouth is also quite foul, I have to say, he is a very thoughtful person."

Ding...

The elevator arrived.

Soldier Boy strode out, his back view dashing, without a shred of reluctance.

Homelander stood in place, watching the elevator doors slowly close.

He held onto the elevator handrail and let out a long breath.

Excitement leaked from those eyes.

He originally thought that that life-or-death brawl would make Soldier Boy even less accepting of him as a son.

After all, no father would like his son to rebel against him.

But he never expected that Soldier Boy would actually take the initiative to speak to him!!

Why was this?

Amidst the excitement, Homelander was also full of confusion.

He didn’t understand at all what Soldier Boy actually liked; he was like a child wanting to please his father, at a complete loss for a moment.

"I have to go look it up!" Homelander muttered to himself.

...

On the other side.

Hillel’s office.

Soldier Boy pushed the door open and came in. Hillel was still watching SpongeBob SquarePants; this yellow sponge had quite a lot of episodes.

He wouldn’t be able to finish watching them anytime soon.

Soldier Boy was somewhat dumbfounded. The dignified Guardian actually liked watching this kind of stuff?

The yellow sponge was holding a spatula and arguing with a damned octopus, what the hell was this?

"You... are watching cartoons?"

"Mn."

"Isn’t this stuff childish?"

"Are you kidding me, these are the Three Great Pillars of Bikini Bottom!!"

Hillel said seriously.

Soldier Boy: "..."

Fine.

This could also be considered a weird quirk.

"Did you come to consult me about psychological problems again this time? Do you want to register for an appointment, charged by the hour, ten million bucks!"

"There’s no need, I can’t afford it." Soldier Boy was now penniless and broke.

"I want to tell you something! I want to participate in some operations, just like the ones on Little St. James Island!"

"Well, that’s truly gone. That thing is a time-limited event and cannot return."

"Something similar will do. I’ve killed quite a few enemies, and punishing the wicked and promoting good... nobody would refuse."

Deep down in the old timer’s bones, he still wanted to be a hero after all!

Hillel pondered for a moment. "Recently Epstein was arrested; go pry something out."

"And there is Alastair Adana locked up at Tech Knight’s place, who is the leader of the Church of the Collective. His grandfather seems to have been Vought himself, and all these people have been to the island!"

"They have a long list in their hands. What you need to do is bring those things to me before anyone else kills them."

After listening, Soldier Boy felt that Hillel truly understood him.

This job was right up his alley.

"Deal!"

With this matter settled, Hillel should also busy himself with official business.

There was less than a month and a half left until the next battle. The system said there was no penalty mechanism this time, but judging from the last experience, it probably wouldn’t be too easy.

He should undergo some training.

On Earth, that definitely wouldn’t do.

The growth of a Viltrumite did not rely solely on time. Bloodline was just the foundation; his potential still required him to use battles that pushed him to the limit again and again, as well as tempering, to solidify his state.

Therefore, the first stop was a star dozens of times larger than the Sun.

...

Far outside the solar system.

Hillel plunged headfirst into the chromosphere of this star. There was a high temperature of thirty thousand degrees here, which still posed a certain threat to a planetary-level Hillel.

He opened his arms, facing the churning plasma storm, and punched out with one fist.

The wind of his punch tore apart the matter on the surface of the massive Sun, stirring up a prominence tens of kilometers high.

But that reaction force slammed fiercely onto his fist, causing his arm to shatter inch by inch.

Super-speed Healing, Super-speed Healing!

Hillel recovered to his prime almost instantly.

Good!

This was the feeling!

On Earth, nothing could make him go all out. His strength had been in a frozen state for a long time, and over time, his physical body would slack off and stop progressing.

But it was different here.

The gravity of the massive star, the impact of the stellar storms, the extreme high temperature and pressure—every punch thrown would feed back a portion of star-level power onto his body.

Blazing flames of the despicable... Ah, no, that’s not right...

This was called flame body-tempering.

Viltrum parry, kid!!

In the flames of the Sun, he threw punch after punch.

For a full week, Hillel did not leave this massive star. Like an untiring god of war, in that sea of fire sufficient to vaporize everything, he repeatedly tempered every inch of his muscle, every bone, and even every drop of blood.

"It seems my bloodline has indeed mutated a lot; there aren’t just smart atoms in my body, but many other things as well!"

Hillel was completely naked, with flames wrapping around his body surface.

If it were Viltrum’s Grand Regent Thragg, after falling into the Sun, he wouldn’t be able to last seven days at all, not even for an hour.

This was the miraculous Viltrumite.

Able to escape a black hole’s event horizon and engage in ultra-long-distance interstellar travel, yet after falling into the Sun, their smart atoms would be suppressed, and they would be burned to charcoal.

Hillel was not stronger than Thragg, but aside from his inner ear structure being overly complex and sensitive, he had almost no weaknesses.

Speaking of bloodlines, it was still his Emperor Viltrumite self who looked more like an emperor than Argall, and was more durable than Thragg.

Emperor Armor... Emperor Viltrumite—Combine!!
