The Broken System Chose the Antagonist
Chapter 79: Reunion Between Groups [1] {Bonus}BANG. BANG. BANG.
The noise echoing from the doors naturally put everyone on edge. Those who were originally sitting close to the doors immediately distanced themselves from them, due to startlement.
"What’s that sound?"
"I don’t know..."
"Do you think something’s knocking from outside?"
Curious and frantic murmurs scattered amongst the people. And as the banging grew louder, so did the murmuring. Everyone in the group knew the correct way to unlock the doors to enter, so the fact that whoever was knocking outside hadn’t entered yet was obviously not a part of their group.
Could it be a Predicament?
BANG. BANG. BANG.
"HILDA, GET OUT HERE!" Everyone immediately flinched at the muffled feminine voice. It was clear that whoever was knocking on their doors wasn’t very happy.
’Hilda?!’ Nadia’s eyes immediately widened at the yelled-out name. Although she was curious and, at the same time, concerned as to why Hilda was being called out, that wasn’t important at the moment.
What was important was the person calling out for her. And why did they sound so familiar, as though she had only heard their voice just recently?
Elias, who was the first responder to these types of situations, carried a handful of rusty chains to the doors and tied their handles tightly together.
When he finished securing the chains, certain that no one could possibly bust through the doors, he shouted in a manner befitting someone who managed to achieve nothing today:
"WHAT’D YOU WANT!? STOP SHOUTING LIKE SOME CRAZY LUNATIC—"
"{POWER WALL}!"
Before Elias could even react, the chains he had secured the doors with snapped crisply as the doors suddenly flew open. His shocked expression was then flattened against a translucent yellow wall that charged into him, sending him flying back.
"PUAGHK—!"
After Elias hit the ground, clutching his face with a muffled groan of pain, he was then lifted into the air by the collar by a tall, muscular woman with a lion’s mane of wild orange hair. She had a seething look on her face.
It was Roxy.
As the people from her group quickly stormed into the warehouse to back her up, Roxy tightened her grip on Elias’ collar before growling.
"Where is she, you rat?! You’re the one who put her up to it, weren’t you!?"
"Ugh—!" Elias let out a deep groan. "Where’s who and put who up to what, you damn brute!? I have no idea who you’re talking about!"
Roxy’s eyes flashed with rage.
With an uncontrollable look in her eyes, she raised her fist. "If you’re not going to tell me where she is, I’ll just beat the answers out of you—!"
"Stop."
Before things could escalate any further, a wave of glossy blonde hair fluttered by, followed by a slender hand that suddenly reached out to grab Roxy’s wrist. Causing the woman’s fist to stop in place mid-swing, unable to budge an inch.
Everyone who witnessed this happen widened their eyes in shock, especially Seraphine, who had to do a double-take at what she was seeing. ’N-Nadia!?’
The Heroine had somehow manoeuvred her way through the crowd of people without drawing a single bit of attention to herself. And with astonishing speed, too, to be able to intercept Roxy’s punch.
Nadia glared at Roxy warningly as she silently recalled who she was, albeit vaguely. ’This woman... wasn’t she the one we encountered yesterday?’
If she remembered correctly, if not for Elias stealing their eyes, she seemed like a calm and chillax person. The sort of friendly and comforting aura some extroverts would have. But at this moment, Nadia felt none of that, especially when she was this up close to the woman.
Watching as the woman glared back at her with unbridled anger, Nadia couldn’t help but curse Hilda silently. What had that convoluted German done to cause such a virulent reaction from this muscular woman?
’Judging by how this woman seemingly brought her entire group, perhaps it wasn’t just an attack on her...’ Nadia let out a shallow sigh at this, feeling slightly irritated.
She then quickly retrieved Roxy’s name from memory.
"... Roxy... Rutherford. I have no idea as to what Hilda has done to you or your group... but let’s be civil about this and talk this through—"
"Oh~... Now, I know who you are..."
Nadia was suddenly taken aback by what she had heard. She knew who she was...? How could that be?
Unless she was remembering incorrectly, she hadn’t spoken loudly enough for the woman to hear her back when their group encountered theirs. She should’ve been as ignorable as the background!
She soon awakened from her stupor and asked awkwardly:
"You... do?"
"Yeah... that slimy woman just so happened to passionately describe you to me." Roxy gritted her teeth. "And I wonder if that was some part of her plan..."
Nadia watched as Roxy released Elias before taking a subconscious step back, her expression darkening slightly at what she heard.
"... Passionately?" She repeated.
Although it was a bit surprising that Hilda had spoken about her in secret, she wasn’t overly surprised about it. After all, she didn’t really care in the slightest if Hilda spoke about her to others.
What she really cared about was what came out of the woman’s mouth! Because from what she had gathered over the last two days, it was apparently likely that people could get the wrong idea about their relationship!
"I... I really hope she didn’t say anything weird..." Nadia muttered, visibly disconcerted. "And just to let you know beforehand, I have absolutely no involvement in whatever she did or planned to do.
"So, if you find her, you can do whatever you want with her, but leave me out of it. I’m completely innocent."
"Is that so?" Roxy scratched the side of her head. She did it in an odd manner that made one think she was deeply aggravated, struggling to keep herself in check. "... Unfortunately, I can’t do that... because the way she put it, I’m going to have to involve you, if I want her to show herself."
"What do you mea—"
Before Nadia could have a chance to finish her question, Roxy had suddenly lunged at her.
