Ebony’s POV

"Hey, My Love," Keith said as he walked into our room. He walked over to me, wrapped his arms around me, and pulled me to him.

"So what happened?" I asked

"King Jacob came to because he heard about you almost being kidnapped. He also said he wanted to apologize to you personally for the way she talked to you back at the palace," Keith said

"How did he find out about me almost being kidnapped?’ I asked

"He had some of his warriors come here to keep an eye on you. He said he was worried that you could be in danger for being his daughter and also because of when that man tried to shoot you back at the palace," Keith said. I was shocked that he would do that. I thought he didn’t care about me or want me around.

’Do you think I should talk to him?" I asked

"I don’t want to tell you what to do, My Love. I want you to make your own decision," Keith said

"What would you do if you were in my shoes?" I asked

"Honestly, I might hear him out," Keith said

’I don’t know what I should do, Keith. I want to talk to him, but I am afraid I am not going to like what he says," I said

"The only way to find out is to hear what he has to say. I am worried that if you don’t, you will regret it later," Keith replied

One Day Later

"Thank you for meeting with me, Ebony," Jacob said. I decided to listen to Nancy and Keith and meet with Jacob. He came to the Packhouse, and we talked in the backyard. Keith made sure that none of the Pack Members would be present while I talked to him.

"Keith told me you wanted to talk to me," I said

"Yes, I wanted to apologize to you, Ebony. I am sorry for saying those things to you. I hope you can forgive me, and we can start over," Jacob said

"Why do you want to start over? So that I can take my place as Queen," I asked

"No. I want to start over because you are my daughter Ebony. Not because of some position," Jacob said

"Well, I don’t know how we can start over. Whenever I am around, your Mate is talking about my mom. I don’t have time to put up with that," I said

"I know that, Ebony. But, like I already told you, I am sorry for how Alice and I treated you. I also want to say that you still shouldn’t have left the way you did," Jaco scolded.

"I wasn’t going to sit around and keep being disrespected. That is why I left," I said.

"Yeah, but you didn’t have to destroy everything on your floor and hit Alice," Jacob said

"What are you talking about? I didn’t destroy the room or hit Alice," I said, confused.

"You don’t have to deny it, Ebony. Alice told me everything about how you were upset and destroyed your room. Then, when she tried to apologize and convince you to stay, you hit her in the face,"

"That is not true. I didn’t mess up the room or hit Alice in the face. Keith and I didn’t even see Alice after the two of you left the dining room that night. We went straight to the room and packed all our stuff before leaving," I said, and he looked at me for a moment.

"I think you, me, and Alice need to sit down and talk. Get to the bottom of everything," Jacob said

"I don’t think that is a good idea. I can tell she doesn’t like me that much," I said

"Well, will you and Keith at least have dinner with Alice, Alissa, and me," Jacob asked

"I will talk to Keith about it, but I am sure that will be fine. But I really don’t want to argue with anyone," I said.

"I promise there will be no arguing. Thank you for meeting with me," Jacob said. Jacob left, and I went up to Keith and my floor. I couldn’t help thinking about Alice and how she lied to Jacob. I was going to tell Keith everything that Jacob said Alice told him. I knew I needed to figure out why she would do that.

Jacob’s POV

After meeting with Ebony, I returned to the room Alpha Edward provided for me in the Packhouse. Alice was sitting on the couch reading a book when I walked inside.

"Where is Alissa?" I asked

"She decided to look for you and Ebony. How did your talk go?" Alice said as she walked over to me. I placed my arms around her and pulled her body to mine.

"It was interesting," I replied

"How so?"

"She told me she was not the one who destroyed her room. She also said she didn’t hit you or see you after dinner," I said, and Alice began to laugh.

"Of course, she wouldn’t tell you that, Jacob. She is young and doesn’t want you to be ashamed or mad at her. I understand where she is coming from, and I don’t hold any of this against her. I won’t even call her out about any of it or bring it up again," Alice said

"You are amazing," I said and kissed her passionately. I know I had hurt her terribly by having a baby with another she-wolf. No, I didn’t know my Mate back then, but it still hurt her. I am grateful she accepted me and is trying to be a good stepmother to Ebony. I know Ebony’s mother was not a good one, and it makes me feel bad for not being there for her when she was younger.

"I told Ebony that I wanted us to have dinner with her and Keith tonight," I said

"Do you think she would want me there? I don’t want to ruin anything," Alice said

"Of course, you are going to be there. You are my Mate and Queen. But I don’t want any arguing tonight. I don’t want to push Ebony away, and please don’t bring up her mother, Okay?" I said

"I know, and I promise I won’t bring her mother up again," Alice said, and I hugged her close to me.

"Thank you, Alice. You are perfect," I said

"I am going to see if I can find Alissa. We need to get ready for dinner," Alice said and walked away.

Ebony’s POV

"Hey, Love. How did your talk go with your father?" Keith asked

"He apologized and asked me if I wanted to start over," I said. Keith approached me and pulled my body to his, hugging me close.

"And what did you say?" Keith asked

"I told him that I didn’t know how that would work after everything they said to me," I replied

"I know you want to get to know your father, Ebony," Keith said

"Yeah, I do, and Alissa, but I don’t think Alice would like that. Especially after what Jacob told me she said to him about me,"

"What did she say?" Keith asked, looking at me. We walked over to the couch and sat down before I responded.

"She told Jacob that I destroyed everything in the room we were staying in at the Palace," I said

"what? That is ridiculous," Keith replied

"I know, and there is more. She said that I hit her in the face,"

"This makes no sense. Why would she tell him all of those lies?" Keith asked

"I don’t know, but I think it is because she doesn’t want me around. Maybe she is mad that he had a child with another she-wolf. I mean, I would be mad, too, if you did that, but she is taking it overboard. Jacob said that she had a bruise on her face, and when they went up to our floor, everything was destroyed," I said.

"This is crazy. Does Jacob believe her? I will tell him we didn’t see her when we left," Keith asked.

"I already told him that none of what she said was true and that the last time we saw her was at dinner that night. I told him that we packed our bags and left for the private jet to go home," I said

"What did he say after you told him that?" Keith asked

"That he would talk to Alice. I am sure she is going to lie to him, though. He wants all of us to have dinner tonight, but I don’t know if that is a good idea," I said, and Keith took my arms and gestured for me to sit on his lap, which I did without hesitation.

"Don’t worry about anything, My Love. I think we should go to dinner with them," Keith said

"I don’t know, Keith. I don’t feel like arguing with them tonight,"

"I am not going to let you let Alice win. You want to be around King Jacob and Alissa, and I know they want to be around you too. That is why he came here to check on you after he heard about you almost being kidnapped. I will be there with you the whole time," Keith said

"Okay, I guess you’re right," I said

"Good, and we can tell them about our Alpha and Luna Celebration. I am sure they would want to be there when you become Luna," Keith said

"Yeah, that would be nice," I replied, and Keith kissed me softly. Then, a knock on the door caused me to get off Keith’s lap.

"You have a guest, Love," Keith said

"Hey, Ebony," Alissa said

"Hey," I replied

"I thought you might want to hand out for a while. It has been a while since we have," Alissa said

"Sure, that sounds good," I replied

"I have to go talk to my father. The two of you have fun hanging out," Keith said and kissed the top of my head before walking out of the room.
