Chapter 299: Chapter 299 - Dinner Scene
By the time Roxie got the food onto the table, Zac looked personally offended by the plate in front of him. He sat across from her, stared at dinner for a second, then looked back at her with the kind of disappointment that made her want to laugh before he even opened his mouth.
"You’re really making me eat."
"Yes."
"After all that?"
Roxie picked up her fork. "You mean after you made cooking impossible?"
"I helped."
"You kissed my neck while I was holding a knife."
"I was behind you," Zac said. "That’s safe."
"You were hard against my ass, Zac."
His mouth twitched. "Still behind you."
Roxie tried to glare, but the laugh slipped out anyway. She pointed at his plate with her fork. "Eat."
Zac leaned back in his chair, eyes dropping to her mouth like he was still considering ignoring the food completely. "The food can wait."
"The surprise can wait."
His eyes came back to hers. "That’s cruel."
"That’s dinner."
He groaned and picked up his fork like she had asked him to suffer. Roxie took a bite too, mostly because she was hungry, but also because watching Zac try to obey while looking that impatient made her stomach tighten in a way that had nothing to do with food. He took one bite, then looked at her. When she caught him, he looked back at his plate too late.
"You’re staring," she said.
"I’m eating."
"You’re staring and eating badly."
"I’m distracted."
"That sounds hard."
"It is."
Roxie’s laugh came out before she could stop it, and Zac’s eyes darkened at the sound. That look gave her the first small push of confidence. She stretched one leg under the table, slow enough that he would feel it coming before her bare foot brushed his shin.
Zac stopped chewing.
Roxie looked down at her plate like nothing had happened. For a second, he said nothing. Then he swallowed, his voice lower than before.
"Rox."
"Hm?"
"What are you doing?"
"Sitting."
"With your foot on me."
"My foot is allowed to exist."
"Not like that."
She dragged her toes lightly along the inside of his calf and watched his jaw tighten. It was small, barely anything, but the reaction went straight through her. She liked that one touch under the table could make him pause. She liked how hard he was trying to act normal and failing.
She liked what it did to her too, the way her nipples tightened against her shirt and the ache between her legs sharpened just from watching him struggle.
She let him take another bite before sliding her foot higher, slow and deliberate, until the arch of her foot pressed against the inside of his thigh. Zac’s fork stopped halfway to his mouth.
Roxie looked up. "Food okay?"
He lowered the fork. "Seriously?"
"What?"
"You know what you’re doing."
"I asked about the food."
"No, you didn’t."
She smiled and moved higher. The sole of her foot slid over the hard shape of him through his pants, and both their breaths caught. She felt him twitch under the pressure, thick and straining beneath the rough fabric, and the nervousness she had carried from the bedroom loosened a little more. He leaned back in his chair and stared at her while she kept eating, her foot moving in one slow stroke over him.
"Babe."
"Hm?"
"You told me to eat."
"I still want you to."
"You’re making that difficult."
"I cooked for you. I want you to finish."
His eyes narrowed. "Then maybe take your foot off my cock."
Roxie pretended to think about it. "No."
Zac laughed under his breath, rough and strained, but he forced himself to pick up his fork again, and that made her grin. He was actually trying. She waited until he took another bite before her toes curled over the thick ridge of him. She rubbed slowly, testing the motion, learning what made his jaw tighten and what made his hips shift before he caught himself.
The front of his pants was already damp where the head of him pressed hardest.
Roxie bit the inside of her cheek. She did that. She barely had to touch him, and he was already like this. Roxie smiled and moved her foot from base to tip. "Eat. Finish your meal if you want the surprise."
Zac went still, and a low groan slipped out before he could stop it. This time, Roxie could not hide the smile. He looked down beneath the table, then slowly back at her.
"Roxie."
"What?"
"You’re evil."
His hand disappeared beneath the table and closed around her ankle. He held on, thumb pressing into her skin, but he didn’t push her away. If anything, his grip kept her foot exactly where it was.
Roxie’s stomach tightened.
"Behave," he said.
Her eyebrows lifted. "You’re telling me to behave while I’m stroking your cock under the table?"
She tried pulling her ankle back, mostly to see what he would do. Zac kept hold of it, his thumb moving over her skin while her foot stayed pressed against him.
"Let go."
"Are you gonna stop?"
Roxie thought about lying. "No."
His mouth twitched. "Then no."
He looked down at his plate, and Roxie saw the idea hit him before he moved. Zac took another bite, fast enough that her eyes narrowed.
"Why are you rushing?"
He took another bite without answering, jaw tight as her foot kept working him. Roxie pressed higher, circling the leaking head of him through the fabric. A rough sound escaped him, but he kept chewing like he had decided surviving her was now a personal challenge.
Roxie stared at him. "Oh, fuck you."
Zac laughed, strained. "I’m eating."
"You’re inhaling."
"You told me to finish."
"I didn’t mean immediately."
He looked far too pleased with himself for someone whose cock was twitching hard against her sole. Roxie pressed harder, rubbing the full length of him in a slow rhythm, and Zac’s grip tightened around her ankle.
The fact that he could sit there eating dinner while holding her foot against him should have annoyed her. It did. It also made her wetter.
Zac took the last bite and chewed while staring right at her.
Roxie’s foot slowed.
He swallowed, set the fork down, and grinned.
"So now what?"
Roxie looked at his empty plate, then at her own half eaten food. To be honest, dinner did not look very interesting anymore.
Her heart started beating faster.
Zac’s grin softened a little when he saw her face change. He was still hard beneath her foot, still desperate, but the patience came back into his eyes.
"You okay?"
Roxie hated that he could make her nervous and safe at the same time.
"Yes."
"You sure?"
She nodded, then remembered he always needed words when it mattered. "Yes."
His thumb moved over her ankle once.
That helped more than she wanted to admit.
Roxie pulled her foot away and pushed her chair back. "Go sit on the couch."
Zac did not move for half a second. Then his face changed slowly, completely.
"The couch?"
"Yes."
His eyes moved over her. "What are you doing?"
She stood, smoothing her shorts even though her hands shook a little. "Your surprise."
Zac’s chair scraped back when he stood too fast.
Roxie pointed at him. "Sit down first."
He stopped.
The fact that he actually listened made her confidence flicker back to life. Zac stared at her, breathing hard, then walked to the couch and sat like someone trying very hard to behave.
Roxie stayed by the table for another second. She was still nervous. Terrified, maybe. But Zac was sitting there, hard and desperate, looking at her like she was the only thing in the room.
So she took a breath and followed him.
