Vivian’s POV

If anyone were to ask, the reason that Vivian was meeting up with her best friend was so that the two of them could have some coffee together.

But from the moment that she had sat down at the little cafe that they were in, coffee had been the furthest thing from both of their minds.

"Show me again, show me again!" Amy said excitedly as she jumped up and down in her seat. Had the two of them not chosen as a secluded booth, Vivian was certain that the staff would have already asked them to leave because they were bothering other patrons, but since they were on their own, she did not have to worry about that. All that she did was pull her hand up from under the table and thrust it into Amy’s face, her friend squealing, and acting like she was about to faint as she once again got a look at the ring.

"Viv, this is amazing! Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!" Fanning herself with her hand, Amy stared at the ring some more.

"He seriously had the jewelry store come to you guys and then let you pick this monster?" Vivian’s friend asked, her eyes are light with pure joy.

Nodding, Vivian brought her hand closer to herself. "Yep, he really did that. I’m certain that if it were up to him, he would have had the jewelry store become a permanent fixture in the penthouse. The man is seriously in love with bling. Ever since I’ve put this on he has been-" Realizing that she was about to overshare Vivian cut herself off. But it was too late, Amy was already squealing.

"Oooooh, even your sex life has gone to astronomical levels of awesomeness. Girl, I am so happy for you, you deserve it," Letting the clearly genuine praise warm her, Vivian smiled at her friend and picked up her coffee, taking a sip, before returning her focus to her friend.

As lovely as it was to talk about her engagement and also have her friend gushing over her ring. Vivian had something else that was on her mind, and that something happened to concern her best friend so she came right out and asked the other woman.

"With everything that has been going on these past few weeks, I have been very preoccupied," Amy nodded at that and Vivian continued.

"But just because I have been busy, it does not mean that my ability to notice things has been dormant," As she watched her friend, Vivian saw Amy’s eyes suddenly looking everywhere but at her, and she knew that her friend was well aware of where the conversation was going.

"I could not help but notice while looking at you that you seemed to be rather close with a certain banker. Is there anything you would like to fill me in on?" In a burst of motion that was very suspicious, Amy grabbed her coffee, gulped it down, then shook her head way too fast.

"What, me and Mark, Mark and me, Mark and I... close? Ha! There is no such thing. I was there, he was there. We just happened to be in the same general area, sometimes standing together, sometimes sitting near each other," Watching her friend have a mini panic attack over her stating a simple observation had a big smile breaking over Vivian’s face.

"So there really is something going on between the two of you. I was not too sure, but your reaction just now has given the game away,"

"What, no!" Amy said a little too loudly, then all of the fight went out of her and she slumped in her seat.

"All right, all right, there is something between Mark and I, but it is nothing serious. We are just letting off steam. In case you haven’t noticed, supporting you and Ryan is very stressful,"

Now it was Vivian’s turn to squeal doing a little dance where she sat. She laughed freely before turning her attention back to Amy.

"Good for the two of you, but if you feel things getting more serious, here is my advice, do not fight it. Life is too short to be wasting especially when it comes to finding somebody you are compatible with. So if it does become more, just know that you guys have my blessing,"

Her face pink, Amy did not say anything more, she simply nodded and went back to her coffee. Vivian, realizing that her normally very outspoken friend was having an unexpected bout of shyness, nodded and went back to her own drink as well. The two of them not saying anything more on the matter.

Their coffee date done, the two of them walked hand in hand, pausing every once in a while to window shop. They talked about their jobs, they talked about the weather, the latest fashion trends that were epic fails in their eyes. All manner of things really. Just as Vivian thought that they would end their time together talking only about safe topics, Amy brought up Mark again.

"What if I tell him that I would like us to be something more, and he turns me down?" Vivian’s friend asked, a vulnerability in her voice that Vivian was not used to hearing.

Bumping their shoulders together, she smiled at the other woman.

"If he were to tell you that, then he would definitely not be as smart as I thought he was. But you would keep going and thrive without him. I doubt that he will say no though. So if that is what you are thinking of doing, go ahead, take that risk, you will never know unless you try," Amy did not say anything to that. She just briefly came in for a hug and then stepped back and resumed walking. Vivian did not let her friend’s abrupt dropping of the topic bug her. She already knew that Amy had taken her words to heart and would probably be taking action soon.
