Ryan’s POV
Ryan sometimes referred to himself as a free-flowing businessman. He saw himself as someone who just followed the money and saw where it led. Those who had never done business with him always assumed that being free-flowing meant that Ryan was just a lucky idiot who had the backing of an influential family. He always took great pleasure in watching them realize how wrong they were if they ever got the opportunity to meet him.
The truth was that Ryan’s own individual success was not something that he had come across simply due to luck and having the right last name. He had worked hard for everything that he had.
Patience, dedication and determination.
Those were the things that made sure that he was successful, over and over again. Few people could keep the momentum that he had going because they lacked the drive that he had.
If something was not being done correctly, then Ryan wanted no part of it. So he always went out of his way to ensure that whatever project he was pursuing, every small detail was being attended to.
Success, that was what Ryan thrived on and it was something that he always worked hard to ensure that he got. Now he had another project to focus his energies on. The project was definitely one of the most important ones that he had ever handled... his upcoming wedding day.
To make sure that it was a success, he was applying all of the practices that he normally reserved for his business ventures into the event. If anything, he was even worse than normal because his wedding was such a big deal to him. He had set very high standards and he wanted each and every one of them met.

To make sure that the wedding celebration was one of the grandest events to ever be held, Ryan was not intending to spare any expenses. That was the reason why he had hired the best wedding planner in the industry.
When he had called her personally, the woman had clearly been shocked. But once he had informed her of the reason for his call, she had readily agreed to work on his wedding. Now though, Ryan was pretty certain there was a part of her that was regretting it.
She had come to meet him and Vivian with plans for everything. Clearly her intent to get their opinion on a few things and then steer them in a certain direction. Obviously she had been operating under the assumption that he and Vivian were like the majority of her clients who did not wish to be too involved in their wedding preparations.
Too bad.
Ryan already had ideas of his own.
Food, the theme, the attire, the venue, the sitting arrangements, the decorations...he already had plans for all of that. He had gathered all of that information ever since asking Vivian to marry him.
Compared to all that he had, the woman’s many... many files were tiny in comparison. Having immediately noticed that, Ryan had moved to ensure that she followed his lead since he was clearly more prepared than her.
"Make sure to seat everybody in the order that I have selected. There are certain groups that just should not mix. Having politicians and diplomats too close together is never a good thing. Oh, and make sure that everyone is well aware of the colour scheme for the wedding and which designers they cannot touch, I will not have anyone upstaging my sweet Vivian," Vivian and the wedding planner shared a look at that, but Ryan barely paid them any mind. He was too busy thinking about how gorgeous Vivian would look in her wedding dress. In fact, even when it came to that, he already had a design in mind.
It was something that would really showcase just how beautiful she was. A form fitting creation that would cling to her curves, and tastefully expose that wonderful cleavage of hers.
He wanted all of the guests to be jealous. For the women to look at her and know that they would never even come close to his Vivian’s beauty, and he wanted the men to know that they had lost out, that they had all overlooked the pure diamond that was his Vivian. That they would never get a chance to be with a woman like her.
Just thinking of how amazing it would all be, almost made Ryan tear up.
The wedding planner clearing her throat brought him down to earth and he fixed the woman with a cool look,( he did not appreciate being interrupted while thinking of how good the woman next to him would look in her wedding dress).
"I take it from everything that I have just shared with you. You have a general idea of what I want, right?" The woman nodded, looking a bit dazed and Ryan hummed in disapproval. Why was she looking so overwhelmed, he had already done all of the heavy lifting, she just had to do the finishing touches. Deciding to trust the fact that she was the best in the business, he continued.
"Good. I will send you everything that I have compiled and you can work from that. We will be in touch," Quickly gathering up her things, the woman left, moving so fast it almost looked as though she were running away.
How weird.
Turning his attention back to Vivian, Ryan was surprised to find her not looking as satisfied as he felt. Was something wrong?
Had there been something that she wished to add to the conversation, she had been very quiet during the entire thing. Perhaps she had been too shy to talk to the other woman. That would not do, this was her wedding as well. So her input was very, very valuable.

"Are you all right? Should I call the wedding planner back so that you can add a few things of your own?" Instead of nodding her head and telling him that there were indeed a few things that she wished to share with the wedding planner, Vivian shook her head. Then she began fiddling with the engagement ring.
Suddenly uneasy, Ryan moved in a bit closer and put his hand over hers.
"Sweetheart. What is it? What is wrong? You have been far too quiet, and now you do not seem comfortable," Letting go of the ring. Vivian’s entire frame stiffened before she took a very deliberate deep breath and relaxed. Then she looked him right in the eyes and said words that left Ryan feeling like he had been punched in the solar plexus.
"Ryan, I do not think I can do this,"
